Summary Sunflower lines breeding true for very high oleic acid content in their oil (average levels higher than 85%) were crossed with standard sunflower lines with mean oleic acid levels of 30%. Analysis of the oil of F1 seeds indicated dominance for high oleic levels and control of the genotype of the embryo. Segregating generations were obtained selfing heterozygous high oleic BCnF1 plants from several generations of a backcrossing program to incorporate the high oleic character to standard inbred lines and testcrossing these plants to low oleic material. Analysis of F2 and testcrossed seeds showed three kind of segregations, in both F2 and testcrossed populations, with different proportions of low, intermediate and high oleic types. Genetic analysis of these data supported the hypothesis, that the high oleic character is controlled by three dominant complementary genes OL1, OL2 and OL3. Additional data showing F1 seeds with intermediate oleic content and segregations for high oleic in progenies of intermediate types, suggest the presence of major factors modifying high oleic acid content.  相似文献

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) possesses the highest amount of linoleic acid among the 10 major vegetable oil crops of the world. Very high linoleic acid content is controlled by recessive alleles at a single locus Li. However, deviated segregations from the expected monogenic inheritance have been observed in crosses involving nuclear male‐sterile (NMS) lines. The present research was undertaken to study the inheritance of very high linoleic acid content in safflower and its relationship with nuclear male sterility. F1, F2, F3, BC1F1 and BC1F2 seed generations were evaluated in a cross between CR‐142 (a line with very high linoleic acid content, 88%) and CL1 (an NMS line with wild‐type linoleic acid content, 74%). The genetics of linoleic acid content in male‐sterile plants was determined by testcrossing with CR‐142. The results confirmed monogenic inheritance. The analysis of the F3 and BC1F2 to CL1 seed generations demonstrated a repulsion‐phase linkage between Li and Ms loci, the latter conferring the NMS trait. The recombination rate between Li and Ms was estimated to be 0.09.  相似文献

Summary The fatty acid composition of seed-oil of breeding lines and F1 hybrids of Matthiola incana was analyzed, using direct esterification and gas chromatography. The breeding lines tested differed significantly with respect to the levels of palmitic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids. Embryonic-stage heterosis in linolenic acid concentration was demonstrated by F1 hybrid seeds, derived from mating horticulturally different lines of M. incana. Linolenic acid content was negatively correlated with both oleic acid content (r=–0.85) and linoleic acid content (r=–0.66). None of the breeding lines or the F1 hybrids significantly passed the limit of 67% linolenic acid. Possible genetic and biochemical explanations for the above phenotypic data are discussed.  相似文献

Summary Two crosses between Glycine max (L.) Merr. and G. soja Sieb. & Zucc. parents were used to study the association between isozyme marker loci and agronomic and seed composition traits in soybean. The parents possessed different alleles at six isozyme loci for Cross 1 (A80-244036 × PI 326581) and at eight isozyme loci for Cross 2 (A81-157007 × PI 342618A). A total of 480 BC2F4:6 lines from the two crosses was evaluated for 13 traits in two environments. Lines were grouped in locus classes from 0 to 5 according to the number of loci homozygous for the G. soja alleles that they possessed. Within each locus class, each isozyme genotype was represented by five random lines.Selection for G. max alleles at the isozyme loci was not effective in recovering the recurrent parent phenotype in either cross. In cross 1, however, BC2F4-derived lines in the 0- or 1- locus class more closely resembled the G. max parent than lines in the 4- or 5- locus classes for most of the agronomic and seed composition traits evaluated. Significant associations were found between particular isozyme genotypes and every trait analyzed. The estimated effect of genes linked to the Pgm1 locus was a delay in maturity of 6.0±3.4 days. In cross 1, the Idh2 locus was associated with a significant effect on linolenic acid content. The percentage of variation accounted for by the models of estimation varied according to the heritability of the trait. The R2 was high (up to 78%) for maturity, lodging, and vining, and low (up to 21%) for seed yield. Most of the variation was associated with the BC2F1 family from which the lines were derived. There was little evidence that digenic epistasis was an important source of variation.Journal Paper No. J-13505 of the Iowa Agric. Home Econ. Exp. Stn., Ames, IA, Project 2475.  相似文献

One thousand four hundred and seven spring wheat germplasm lines belonging to Indian and CIMMYT wheat programs were evaluated for stay green (SG) trait and resistance to spot blotch caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana during three consecutive crop seasons, 1999–2000, 2000–2001 and 2001–2002. Disease severity was recorded at six different growth stages beginning from tillering to late milk stage. SG trait was measured by following two approaches: difference for 0–9 scoring of green coloration (chlorophyll) of flag leaf and spike at the late dough stage (GS 87) and a new approach of leaf area under greenness (LAUG). Germplasm lines showed a wide range (7–89) for LAUG and were grouped into four viz., SG, moderately stay green, moderately non-stay green and non-stay green (NSG). However, very few (2.2%) lines showed high expression of SG trait, i.e., LAUG >60. LAUG appeared to be a better measure of SG trait than a 0–9 scale. Mean spot blotch ratings of SG genotypes were significantly lower than those of NSG genotypes at all growth stages. Two spot blotch resistant genotypes (Chirya 3 and Chirya 7) having strong expressions of SG trait were crossed with NSG, spot blotch susceptible cv. Sonalika. Individually threshed F2 plants were used to advance the generations. SG trait and spot blotch severity were recorded in the parents and F1, F3, F4, F5, F6 and F6–7 generations under disease-protected and inoculated conditions. SG trait in the F1 generation was intermediate and showed absence of dominance. Evaluation of progenies (202–207) in the segregating generations revealed that SG trait was under the control of around four additive genes. Lines homozygous for SG trait in F4, F5, F6 and F6–7 generations showed significantly lower mean area under disease progress curve (AUDPC) for spot blotch than those with NSG expression. A positive correlation (0.73) between SG trait and AUDPC further indicated a positive influence of SG on severity of spot blotch. The study established that variation for SG trait exists in spring wheat; around four additive genes control its inheritance in the crosses studied and there is positive association between SG trait and resistance to spot blotch.  相似文献

Typical soybean oil is composed of palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids. High oleic acid content in soybean seed is a key compositional trait that improves oxidative stability and increases oil functionality and shelf life. Using a marker‐assisted selection method, near‐isogenic lines (NILs) of G00‐3213 for the high oleic trait were developed and yield tested. These NILs have various combinations of FAD2‐1A and FAD2‐1B alleles that were derived from the same backcrossing populations. The results indicated that G00‐3213 NILs with both homozygous mutant FAD2‐1A and FAD2‐1B alleles produced an average of 788 g/kg oleic acid content. The results also demonstrated that possessing these mutant alleles did not cause a yield reduction. Furthermore, seed germination tests across 12 temperatures (12.8–32.0°C) showed that modified seed composition for oleic acid in general did not have a major impact on seed germination. However, there was a possible reduction in seed germination vigour when high oleic seeds are planted in cold soil. The mutant FAD2‐1A and FAD2‐1B alleles did not hinder either seed or plant development.  相似文献

CAS‐12 is a sunflower mutant with increased levels of palmitic (C16: 0 = 30%) and oleic (C18: 1 = 55%) acids in its seed oil, hence it has a reduced linoleic acid content (C18: 2 < 5%). This study was conducted to determine the inheritance of high C16: 0 content and its relationship with high C18: 1 content in CAS‐12. Reciprocal crosses involving CAS‐12, CAS‐5 (high C16: 0 content), HAOL‐9 (high C18: 1 content) and HA‐89 (standard fatty acid profile) were made. The F1, F2 and BC1F1 generations were obtained. The genetic control of the high C16: 0 trait in CAS‐12 was partially recessive and gametophytic. In all cases, this character segregated in the ratio 19: 38: 7 (low: intermediate: high C16: 0 content) in the F2 generation. These results, together with the lack of segregation for C16: 0 content in crosses between CAS‐12 and CAS‐5, indicated that the genetic control of the high C16: 0 trait in CAS‐12 was similar to that in CAS‐5 in being controlled by partially recessive alleles (p1, p2, and p3) at three loci. Crosses between HA‐89 and CAS‐12, and HAOL‐9 and CAS‐5 (segregating for C16: 0 and C18: 1) demonstrated that the high C16: 0 and the high C18: 1 traits were independently inherited. However, C18: 1 segregation in these crosses exhibited reversal of dominance. Apparently, the low C18: 1 parental lines carried modifier genes causing the deviation.  相似文献

The presence of high levels of sinigrin in the seeds represents a serious constraint for the commercial utilisation of Ethiopian mustard (Brassica carinata A. Braun) meal. The objective of this research was the introgression of genes for low glucosinolate content from B. juncea into B. carinata. BC1F1 seed from crosses between double zero B. juncea line Heera and B. carinata line N2-142 was produced. Simultaneous selection for B. carinata phenotype and low glucosinolate content was conducted from BC1F2 to BC1F4 plant generations. Forty-three BC1F4 derived lines were selected and subject to a detailed phenotypic and molecular evaluation to identify lines with low glucosinolate content and genetic proximity to B. carinata. Sixteen phenotypic traits and 80 SSR markers were used. Eight BC1F4 derived lines were very close to N2-142 both at the phenotypic and molecular level. Three of them, with average glucosinolate contents from 52 to 61 micromoles g−1, compared to 35 micromoles g−1 for Heera and 86 micromoles g−1 for N2-142, were selected and evaluated in two additional environments, resulting in average glucosinolate contents from 43 to 56 micromoles g−1, compared to 29 micromoles g−1 for Heera and 84 micromoles g−1 for N2-142. The best line (BCH-1773), with a glucosinolate profile made up of sinigrin (>95%) and a chromosome number of 2n = 34, was further evaluated in two environments (field and pots in open-air conditions). Average glucosinolate contents over the four environments included in this research were 42, 31 and 74 micromoles g−1 for BCH-1773, Heera and N2-142, respectively. These are the lowest stable levels of glucosinolates reported so far in B. carinata.  相似文献

White mold (WM), caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary, is a widespread disease of dry and green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in North America. Gamete selection (GS) was effective to combine and pyramide resistant genes and quantitative trait loci (QTL) for common bacterial blight. Our objective was to determine the effectiveness of GS to introgress physiological resistance to white mold. Two inter-gene-pool double-cross populations were developed. Selection for WM resistance was practiced from F1 to F4. Thirteen selected F1:5 breeding lines of each population and their four parents were evaluated. Two separate inoculations were made on each plant 1 week apart using a cut-stem method. The WM reaction was scored at 16, 23, and 33 days post inoculation (DPI) using a scale from 1 (no disease) to 9 (severely diseased or dead). In F1, 52% of Pop I (USPT-WM-1/CORN 601//USPT-CBB-1/92BG-7) and 67% of Pop II (Chase/I9365-25//ABL 15/A 195) susceptible plants were discarded. In F4, only 1.2% of families from Pop I, and 0.9% for Pop II, survived the selection process. An average of 20.5% gain in WM resistance was obtained for both populations in F4. Four breeding lines of Pop I had significantly (P = 0.05) lower WM score (4.1–4.6) and four were equal (4.7–4.9) to the best WM-resistant parent 92BG-7 (4.9), while ten breeding lines of Pop II were equal (4.5–4.8) to the best WM-resistant parent A 195 (4.6). Thus, GS was effective for improving WM resistance in common bean.  相似文献

Genetic variation for number of flowers per axis in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) includes single-flower, double-flower, triple-flower and multi-flower traits. A double-flowered (DF) line ICC 4929, a triple-flowered (TF) line IPC 99-18 and a multi-flowered (MF) line JGM 7 were intercrossed in all possible combinations and flowering behavior of parents, F1s and F2s was studied to establish allelic relationships, penetrance and expressivity of genes controlling number of flowers per axis in chickpea. The F1 from ICC 4929 (DF) × IPC 99-18 (TF) cross were double-flowered, whereas F1 from ICC 4929 (DF) × JGM 7 (MF) and IPC 99-18 (TF) × JGM 7 (MF) crosses were single-flowered. The F2 from ICC 4929 (DF) × IPC 99-18 (TF) cross gave a good fit to a 3:1 ratio for double-flowered and triple-flowered plants. The F2 from ICC 4929 (DF) × JGM 7 (MF) cross segregated in a ratio of 9:3:3:1 for single-flowered, double-flowered, multi-flowered and double-multi-flowered plants. The F2 from IPC 99-18 (TF) × JGM 7 (MF) cross segregated in a ratio of 9:3:4 for single-flowered, triple-flowered and multi-flowered plants. The results clearly established that two loci control number of flowers per axis in chickpea. The double-flower and triple-flower traits are controlled by a single-locus (Sfl) and the allele for double-flowered trait (sfl d ) is dominant over the allele for triple-flower trait (sfl t ). The three alleles at the Sfl locus has the dominance relationship Sfl > sfl d > sfl t . The multi-flower trait is controlled by a different gene (cym). Single-flowered plants have dominant alleles at both the loci (Sfl_ Cym_). The double-flower, the triple-flower and the multi-flower traits showed complete penetrance, but variable expressivity. The expressivity was 96.3% for double-flower and 76.4% for double-pod in ICC 4929, 81.2% for triple-flower and 0.0% for triple-pod in IPC 99-18, and 51.3% for multi-flower and 24.7% for multi-pod in JGM 7. Average number of flowers per axis and average number of pods per axis were higher in JGM 7 than double-flowered line ICC 4929 and triple-flowered line IPC 99-18. The results of this study will help in development of breeding strategies for exploitation of these flowering and podding traits in chickpea improvement.  相似文献

Summary The positions of quantitative trait loci (QTL) for yield and yield components were estimated using a 85-point linkage map and phenotype data from a F1-derived doubled haploid (DH) population of barley. Yield and its components were recorded in two growing seasons. Highly significant QTL effects were found for all traits at several sites in the genome. A major portion of the QTL was found on chromosome 2. The effect of the alleles in locus v on thousand grain weight and kernels per ear explained 70–80% of the genetic variation in the traits. QTL × year interaction was found for grain yield. Several different QTL were found within the two-rowed DH lines compared to those found in the six-rowed DH lines. Epistasis between locus v and several loci for yield and yield components indicates that genes are expressed differently in the two ear types. This may explain the difficulties of selecting high yielding lines from crosses between two-rowed and six-rowed barley.Abbreviations DH doubled haploid - QTL quantitative trait locus/loci - RAPD random amplified polymorphic DNA - RFLP restriction fragment length polymorphism - T. Understanding the genetic basis of tolerance to high temperature is important for improving the productivity of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in regions where the stress occurs. The objective of this study was to estimate inheritance of heat tolerance and the minimum number of genes for the trait in bread wheat by combining quantitative genetic estimates and molecular marker analyses. Two cultivars, Ventnor (heat-tolerant) and Karl92 (heat-susceptible), were crossed to produce F1, F2, and F3populations, and their grain-filling duration (GFD) at 30/25 °C 16/8 h day/night was determined as a measure of heat tolerance. Distribution of GFD in the F1 and F2 populations followed the normal model (χ2, p > 0.10). A minimum of 1.4 genes with both additive and dominance effects, broad-sense heritability of 80%, and realized heritability of 96%for GFD were determined from F2 and F3 populations. Products from 59primer pairs among 232 simple sequence repeat (SSR) pairs were polymorphic between the parents. Two markers, Xgwm11 andXgwm293, were linked to GFD by quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis of the F2 population. The Xgwm11-linked QTL had only additive gene action and contributed 11% to the total phenotypic variation in GFD in the F2population, whereas the Xgwm293-linked QTL had both additive and dominance action and contributed 12% to the total variation in GFD. The results demonstrated that heat tolerance of common wheat is controlled by multiple genes and suggested that marker-assisted selection with microsatellite primers might be useful for developing improved cultivars. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Frost tolerance is a main component of winter-hardiness and improving it would promote faba bean (Vicia faba L.) cropping in cool-temperate regions. In many species, leaf fatty acid composition was found to be related to frost tolerance. The objective of this study was to determine, in a representative sample of genotypes, the effect of hardening on leaf and stem (1) frost tolerance and (2) fatty acid composition, and to seek correlations between them. First leaf, second leaf and stem of 31 faba bean genotypes were analyzed after hardening and without hardening. High frost tolerance of known winter genotypes and several experimental lines was shown. Hardening had a significant, positive effect on frost tolerance of all three organs. Stems were on average more frost tolerant than leaves. Hardening induced significant changes in the fatty acid composition: oleic acid decreased significantly in leaves by 3.24% and in stems by 1.77%, whereas linolenic acid increased in leaves by 6.28% and in stems by 9.06%. In stems, correlations between frost tolerance and fatty acid composition were not significant. Correlation coefficients strongly indicated that non-hardened oleic acid content, changes in oleic acid and in linoleic plus linolenic acid content in leaves partly explained their frost tolerance; 0.347 (P < 0.1) < |r| < 0.543 (P < 0.01). The results corroborate the importance of using genetic differences in the fatty acid metabolism in breeding grain legumes for frost tolerance.  相似文献

Increasing the amount of oleic acid in soybean oil would reduce the need for hydrogenation, a process that creates unhealthy trans fatty acids. A previous study mapped six oleic acid quantitative trait loci (QTLs) from N00-3350 (~550 g kg−1 oleic acid) on soybean chromosomes (Gm) 5, 17, 18, and 19, which corresponds to linkage groups (LG) A1, D2, G, and L, respectively. The objectives of this study were to develop high throughput assays to detect single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers associated with these oleic acid QTLs. Several candidate genes that are putatively responsible for the oleic acid phenotype in N00-3350 were identified by BLAST searches against the soybean genomic assembly using the sequences of fatty acid synthesis genes from soybean and Arabidopsis. Putative accC-2 and KAS I genes were located in the region of the cqOle-001 on Gm05 (LG-A1). A putative KAS I gene was located in the region of the cqOle-003 on Gm18 (LG-G) and a putative accB-1 gene was located in the region of the cqOle-004 on Gm18 (LG-G). These fatty acid candidate genes and sequence-tagged sites were used to identify SNPs between N00-3350 and ‘Boggs’. Based on these SNPs, seven SimpleProbe probes for melting curve analysis were developed to rapidly identify the alleles from the mid-oleic acid soybean line N00-3350 at the desired loci. These assays provide a high-throughput and rapid SNP genotyping method which can be used to accelerate the development of mid-oleic acid content soybean cultivars.  相似文献

An additive-dominance, additive × additive (ADAA) and genotype × environment interaction mix model was used to study the genetic control of β-carotene and l-ascorbic acid in six basic generations (P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1P1 and BC1P2) of tomato derived from the cross CDP8779 accession (Solanum lycopersicum L.) × CDP4777 accession (S. lycopersicum var. cerasiforme). The study was performed in two environments: (1) open field; (2) protected environment, consisting of hydroponic cultivation in a glasshouse. The results indicate that β-carotene accumulation was mainly additive (32.2% of the genetic component), with a small dominant component (4.2%) and an important additive × environment interaction contribution (63.6%). In target environments with moderate to high temperatures and no limiting radiation, this the expression additive × environment interaction could substantially enhance the β-carotene content. This trait showed also a high narrow-sense heritability (h 2 = 0.62). Ascorbic acid accumulation was also mainly additive (61.7% of the genetic component), with a minor additive epistatic component (21.5%). This epistatic effect caused a negative heterosis that reduced the positive main additive effect. Nevertheless, in the described target environments, the additive × environment interaction contribution (16.8%) may enhance the ascorbic acid content and compensate for the negative heterosis effect. The total narrow-sense heritability of this trait can be considered useful (h 2 = 0.52). In conclusion, the CDP4777 accession is a very interesting donor parent for the joint improvement of β-carotene (without diminishing lycopene content) and ascorbic acid content in commercial nutraceutical tomato breeding programmes; the F1 hybrids derived from this accession showed nearly 450% of the commonly reported average β-carotene content and close to 130% of the ascorbic acid content of the female parent.  相似文献

Salt tolerance of rice (Oryza sativa L.) at the seed germination stage is one of the major determinants for the stable stand establishment in salinity soil. One population of recombinant inbred lines (RILs, F2:9), derived from a cross between a japonica rice landrace tolerant to salt stress and a sensitive indica rice variety, was used to determine the germination traits including imbibition rate and germination percentage under control (water) and salt stress (100 mM NaCl) for 10 days at 30 °C. The multiple interval mapping (MIM) were applied to conduct QTL for the traits. The results showed that seed germination was a quantitative trait controlled by several genes, and strongly affected by salt stress. A total of 16 QTLs were detected in this study, and each QTL could explain 4.6–43.7% of the total phenotypic variance. The expression of these QTLs might be developmentally regulated and growth stage-specific. In addition, only one digenic interaction was detected under salt stress, showing small effect on germination percentage with R2 2.7%. Among sixteen QTLs detected in this study, four were major QTLs with R2 > 30%, and some novel alleles of salt tolerance genes in rice. The results demonstrated that the japonica rice Jiucaiqing is a good source of gene(s) for salt tolerance and the major or minor QTLs identified could be used to improve the salt tolerance by marker-assisted selection (MAS) in rice.  相似文献

Interspecific hybrids were produced from reciprocal crosses between Brassica napus (2n = 38, AACC) and B. oleracea var. alboglabra (2n = 18, CC) to introgress the zero-erucic acid alleles from B. napus into B. oleracea. The ovule culture embryo rescue technique was applied for production of F1 plants. The effects of silique age, as measured by days after pollination (DAP), and growth condition (temperature) on the efficiency of this technique was investigated. The greatest numbers of hybrids per pollination were produced under 20°/15°C (day/night) at 16 DAP for B. oleracea (♀) × B. napus crosses, while under 15°/10°C at 14 DAP for B. napus (♀) × B. oleracea crosses. Application of the ovule culture technique also increased the efficiency of BC1 (F1 × B. oleracea) hybrid production by 10-fold over in vivo seed set. The segregation of erucic acid alleles in the self-pollinated backcross generation, i.e. in BC1S1 seeds, revealed that the gametes of the F1 and BC1 plants carrying a greater number of A-genome chromosomes were more viable. This resulted in a significantly greater number of intermediate and a smaller number of high-erucic acid BC1S1 seeds.  相似文献

Anthracnose is a serious disease affecting dry bean production especially in the cool highland areas worldwide. The objective of this research was to study the inheritance of anthracnose resistance in market-class dry beans. A complete diallel set of crosses was generated from nine diverse parents comprising six resistant and three susceptible to anthracnose. The F1 and F2 crosses and parents were artificially inoculated with Colletotriclum lindenumthianum Race-767 in a growth room. There was significant variation for anthracnose resistance among genotypes. General combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability effects were significant for resistance, indicating importance of both additive and non-additive effects, respectively. Preponderance of GCA effects (66%) suggested that additive effects were more important than non-additive effects (24%), which were also reflected by high heritability estimates (70%), and suggested that simple selection or backcrossing would be useful for improving the resistance in market class varieties. The study was not conclusive on whether epistatic gene action played a major role, but if available it might have biased the dominance gene effects. Reciprocal effects (10%) were not significant (P > 0.05), suggesting that cytoplasmic genes did not play a major role in modifying anthracnose resistance. Parental lines G2333, AB136, NAT002, and NAT003 showed highly negative GCA effects qualifying them as suitable parents for transferring resistance genes to their progenies. A few major genes, 1–3, displaying partial dominance conditioned anthracnose resistance, suggesting a possibility of using marker-assisted selection to improve anthracnose resistance in market-class dry beans.  相似文献

Fusarium wilt is the main pigeonpea production constraint in Malawi. The purpose of the study was to understand the nature and mechanism of inheritance of F. wilt resistance, yield and secondary traits in pigeonpea. 48 crosses were generated in a 12 lines × 4 testers mating scheme. Some F1 plants were selfed for segregation analysis for inheritance pattern of resistance, while others were evaluated for resistance, yield and secondary traits. There were significant variations among F1 plants for F. wilt, days to 50 % flowering, seed/pod, and number of secondary branches. Specific combining ability (SCA) effects were predominant for F. wilt, days to 50 % flowering and number of secondary branches. The general combining ability (GCA) effects, mainly due to maternal genotypes, were preponderant for yield and other secondary traits. The significance of GCA and SCA effects suggested that variations were due to additive gene action in both the testers and parental lines arising from their interactions, and the dominance effects due to interactions of the parental lines. The χ2 analysis suggested dominant patterns of inheritance for wilt in most of the F2 populations. The segregation ratios of 3:1, 15:1, and 9:7 suggested the involvement of single or two independent/complementary dominant genes in the test donors. Involvement of a few genes governing wilt resistance suggested the ease of breeding for this trait. Pedigree breeding method would be recommended for incorporating various traits in pigeonpea.  相似文献

The variability of seed tocopherol content in wild sunflower species, the expressivity of tph1 and tph2 mutations in different lines and the oxidative stability of sunflower oil with altered tocopherol and fatty acid composition were objectives of this research. Near-isogenic lines for three genes, i.e. Tph1, Tph2, and Ol, were developed and investigated. Tocopherol content was determined with TLC and HPLC, as well as fatty acid composition with GC of methyl esters. Rancimat tests were used to estimate the oxidative stability of the oil. The seed tocopherol composition of wild sunflower species was shown to be uniform with a prevailing content of the α-homologue (90-99%). The genetic background of different near-isogenic lines was found to influence expressivity of mutations for tocopherol composition. High content of strong antioxidants, such as β-, γ-, and δ-tocopherols increased oil oxidative stability of linoleic and oleic types of oil by 1.2–3.0 times. The breeding model of sunflower hybrids should include antioxidant and vitamin parameters balanced for oils of different applications.  相似文献
