The blood vascular system of the bovine omasum The blood vessels supplying and draining the omasal wall and laminae are described and are compared with those of other ruminants. A detailed study revealed that the subepithelial vascular networks in the papillae were in part similar to those of intestinal villi. One or more arterioles branch radially and form a capillary network which does not, as in the villus, drain into a central venule but is succeeded by several subepithelial venules. Capillaries and venules differ only in diameter which are 10 μm. and 40 μm. respectively. The walls of both have a complete basal membrane, perforated endothelium and pinocytotic vesicles. This emphasizes their significance in resorption. Inside and between the papillae the capillaries form a dense network which is separated from the basal cells by a thin layer of connective tissue 5 to 6 μm. thick. Hemodynamic problems related to the presence of elastic connective tissue and to the motor activity of the omasum are discussed.  相似文献

The musculature of the pelvic limb in the turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) Pelvic limbs of 150 turkeys from a normal farmer's strain and from an Broad Breasted strain were examined by dissection to determine growth from birth to adulthood. Schematic figures and photographs show the course of the dissection. The pictures show how the muscles are related to the skeleton of the pelvic limb in the farmer's strain as well as demonstrate the surfaces upon which the muscles insert. The configuration of the muscles in the turkey are similar to the generally known model in birds. It is necessary, however, to describe the musculature and its relations to the skeleton before functional conclusions can be drawn or before studies of deficiencies in movements related to the selection of broad breasted strains can be made.  相似文献

Considerations on the kinematics of the pelvic limbs of the horse Some joint diagrams change their trigonometric value; this occurs in different ways depending on the type of joint and on the forces acting on the joint during the walk and trot. The morphological specialities of the hip, stifle, hock and fetlock joints are compared to the special morphology of the joint types and to the change of movement in the vertical and horizontal planes during the walk and trot. An attempt is made to relate the changes in the trigonometric value of the excursion of the limb to the structural peculiarities of the joints and to the chronaxy differences of the flexor and extensor muscles.  相似文献

Fourteen landrace piglets were killed in pairs at the age of three days and every week until the oldest pair was 6 weeks old. Their noses were serially sectioned transversely for making microradio-graphs. The latter were compared with similar sections of decalcified noses. This method enabled us to describe more precisely the topography of the facial bones, especially the nasal conchae and their development in the young piglet.  相似文献

Isolation of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus from the tarsal joint of a bullInfectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus was isolated from the right tarsal joint of a bull who was showing signs of a systemic viral infection. The clinical signs manifested by 16 bulls of this herd are described, the laboratory methods used are listed and the results are analysed and discussed.  相似文献
