Comparison of the multi‐trait animal model and the traditional repeatability model was carried out using data obtained from 6,424 Landrace and 20,835 Yorkshire sows farrowed from January 2000 to April 2018 in order to estimate genetic parameters for litter traits at different parities. Specifically, records of the total number born (TNB), number born alive (NBA), total number of mortality (MORT), number of stillborn (NSB) and number of mummified pigs (MUM) were used. Although results showed the heterogeneity of heritability for litter traits at different parities, the mean heritability estimates from the multi‐trait model were found to be higher than those of the repeatability model for all traits in both pig breeds. In terms of genetic correlation between parities, a slight difference in genetic control in the first parity was noted for TNB and NBA in Landrace and Yorkshire pigs. The correlation between the first parity and later parities ranged from 0.48 to 0.74 for TNB and NBA in both breeds. Moreover, genetic correlation between parities for MORT and NSB was observed to be high for parities higher than 2 in Yorkshire pigs. For MUM, genetic correlation between the first and other parities was generally low in both breeds, indicating that culling pigs on the basis of MUM at the first parity could probably be unreasonable. Overall, the results of this study suggest that the multi‐trait approach for litter size traits is useful for the accurate estimation of genetic parameters.  相似文献

Genetic parameters for individual birth weight (IBWT), total number of pigs born (NBT), number of pigs born alive (NBA), number of pigs born dead (NBD) and litter weight at birth (LBWT) were estimated using 1961 Mukota pigs kept at the University of Zimbabwe Farm, Harare, Zimbabwe. Variance components were estimated for IBWT based on a direct-maternal genetic effects model. The genetic relationships among NBT, NBA, NBD and LBWT were assessed using a multi-trait direct effects model. For LBWT, the direct, maternal and common environmental litter proportions on the phenotypic variance were 0.090, 0.033 and 0.009, respectively. After adjustment of IBWT for NBA, phenotypic fractions were 0.091, 0.034 and 0.011 for direct, maternal and litter effects. The correlation between the direct and maternal genetic effects of IBWT was − 0.354 and − 0.295, with and without adjustment for NBT. Heritabilities for NBT, NBA, NBD and LBWT were 0.020, 0.030, 0.088 and 0.196, respectively. Differences in the maternal heritability and the heritability for LBWT, a trait of the dam, are different due to accumulation of observations per litter. Maternal genetic effects are, therefore, of less importance than in highly selected European breeds.  相似文献

试验将替米考星以高、中、低(400 mg/kg、200 mg/kg1、00 mg/kg饲料)三个剂量和土霉素以600 mg/kg拌入饲料中饲喂仔猪15 d,称重结果,替米考星高、中、低三个剂量组及土霉素组与对照组相比均有明显的增重效果(P<0.01),尤其是替米考星高剂量组的增重效果显著高于替米考星中、低剂量组及土霉素组(P<0.01),增重效果与替米考星在饲料中的添加剂量成正比。人工感染试验结果:替米考星及土霉素拌料给药对预防猪胸膜肺炎放线杆菌病均有明显的效果,可降低发病率和死亡率,提高成活率,减少病理损害,降低人工感染对增重的影响,尤其以替米考星高、中剂量组预防效果最佳,效果明显优于土霉素组(P<0.01)。用于预防感染,临床推荐剂量为200mg/kg饲料拌料,连续饲喂15 d左右。  相似文献

We estimated heritabilities of semen production traits and their genetic correlations with litter traits and pork production traits in purebred Duroc pigs. Semen production traits were semen volume, sperm concentration, proportion of morphologically normal sperms, total number of sperm, and total number of morphologically normal sperm. Litter traits at farrowing were total number born, number born alive, number stillborn, total litter weight at birth, mean litter weight at birth, and piglet survival rate at birth. Litter traits at weaning were litter size at weaning, total litter weight at weaning, mean litter weight at weaning, and piglet survival rate from birth to weaning. Pork production traits were average daily gain, backfat thickness, and loin muscle area. We analyzed 45,913 semen collection records of 896 boars, 6,950 farrowing performance records of 1,400 sows, 2,237 weaning performance records of 586 sows, and individual growth performance records of 9,550 animals measured at approximately 5 mo of age. Heritabilities were estimated using a single-trait animal model. Genetic correlations were estimated using a 2-trait animal model. Estimated heritabilities of semen production traits ranged from 0.20 for sperm concentration to 0.29 for semen volume and were equal to or higher than those of litter traits, ranging from 0.06 for number stillborn and piglet survival rate at birth to 0.25 for mean litter weight at birth, but lower than those of pork production traits, ranging from 0.50 for average daily gain to 0.63 for backfat thickness. In many cases, the absolute values of estimated genetic correlations between semen production traits and other traits were smaller than 0.3. These estimated genetic parameters provide useful information for establishing a comprehensive pig breeding scheme.  相似文献

In pigs dietary factors often are involved as causes of lesions in pars esophagea of the stomach. In experiments the primary purpose of which was to clarify the effect of grassmeal or alfalfa meal on growth, feed efficiency and carcass quality in bacon pigs, an influence of these feedstuffs on the growth rate and degree of esophagogastric lesions was detected. The greatest improvement in carbohydrates studies on pig nutrition and health is that carbohydrates are classified more clearly, which is based not only on their chemical structure but also on their physiological characteristics. Besides its primary energy source, different types and structures of carbohydrates are a benefit for nutrition and health functions in pigs, which are involved in promoting growth performance and intestinal functions, regulating the community of gut microbiota, and modulating the lipids and glucose metabolism. The underlying mechanism of carbohydrates regulates the lipids and glucose metabolism through their metabolites (short-chain fatty acids [SCFAs]) and mainly via the SCFAs-GPR43/41-PYY/GLP1, SCFAs-AMP/ATP-AMPK, and SCFAs-AMPK-G6Pase/PEPCK pathways. Emerging research had evaluated an optimal combination in different types and structures of carbohydrates, which could enhance growth performance and nutrient digestibility, promote intestinal functions, and increase the abundances of butyrate-producing bacteria in pigs. Overall, compelling evidence supports the notion that carbohydrates play important roles in both nutrition and health functions in pigs. Moreover, identifying the carbohydrates combinations will be of both theoretical and practical values for developing the technology of carbohydrates balance in pigs.  相似文献

The aim of this investigation was to develop models that would make it possible to correct exocrine pancreatic secretion data for the effect of BW and feed intake in growing pigs. In addition, the significance of exocrine pancreatic secretion for daily weight gain (DWG) was studied. Data were used from 10 pigs (16 to 32 kg BW) surgically fitted with chronic pancreatic catheters. The samples were collected under controlled conditions for two to five experimental days per animal (a total of 39 observations), during 2 h preprandially and during 2 h when feeding (postprandially). The exocrine pancreatic secretion traits included the hourly output of volume, the amount of protein, and trypsin and amylase activities. Multiple linear regressions were used to develop models to describe exocrine pancreatic secretion. The individual pig was the most important source of variation in the model. With increasing BW, 7 out of 10 pigs showed an increase in exocrine pancreatic secretion. However, the slopes of the regression lines differed between animals, which made it impossible to develop general models for the correction of secretion data for the effect of BW. Postprandial exocrine pancreatic secretion was always higher than preprandial secretion, but the amount of feed intake per se did not seem to affect secretion. Exocrine pancreatic secretion and DWG were positively correlated. We concluded that, under the present circumstances, expressing secretion per kilogram BW or kilogram feed intake was not feasible. Expressing secretion per hour was the best way to present the data.  相似文献

A major proportion of the costs of pork production is related to feed. The feed conversion rate (FCR) or residual feed intake (RFI) is thus commonly included in breeding programmes. Feeding behaviour traits do not directly have economic value but, if correlated with production traits, can be used as auxiliary traits. The aim of this study was to estimate the heritability of feeding behaviour traits and their genetic correlations with production traits in the Finnish Yorkshire pig population. The data were available from 3,235 pigs. Feeding behaviour was measured as the number of visits per day (NVD), time spent in feeding per day (TPD), daily feed intake (DFI), time spent feeding per visit (TPV), feed intake per visit (FPV) and feed intake rate (FR). The test station phase was divided into five periods. Estimates of heritabilities of feeding behaviour traits varied from 0.17 to 0.47. Strong genetic correlations were obtained between behaviour traits in all periods. However, only DFI was strongly correlated with the production traits. Interestingly, a moderate positive genetic correlation was obtained between FR and backfat thickness (0.1–0.5) and between FR and average daily gain (0.3–0.4), depending on the period. Based on the results, there is no additional benefit from including feeding‐related traits other than those commonly used (FCR and RFI) in the breeding programme. However, if correlated with animal welfare, the feeding behaviour traits could be valuable in the breeding programme.  相似文献

These studies were conducted to determine whether ghrelin, a 28-amino acid peptide produced mainly by the stomach, was involved in tryptophan-mediated appetite stimulation in swine. In experiment 1, 36 crossbred (Long WhitexLarge White) barrows were used in a 2x3 factorial design to determine the effects of food intake (ad libitum versus limit fed) and tryptophan level (0.12%, 0.19% and 0.26%) on growth performance as well as ghrelin expression, plasma insulin, ghrelin and leptin levels. Ad libitum fed pigs gained more weight, but had poorer feed conversion than limit fed pigs. Weight gain, food intake and feed conversion all improved with increased ingestion of dietary tryptophan. Ad libitum feeding increased plasma insulin. Plasma insulin was unaffected by the level of dietary tryptophan. However, plasma leptin was significantly lower in pigs fed 0.19% tryptophan compared to those fed 0.12% tryptophan. Plasma ghrelin levels and ghrelin mRNA level in gastric fundus and duodenun was significantly higher in pigs fed 0.19% and 0.26% tryptophan diet compared with pigs fed 0.12%. In the second experiment, 18 crossbred barrows were divided into three treatments involving oral infusion of saline, tryptophan (40mg/kg BW) or 5-hydroxytryptophan (40mg/kg BW). Plasma ghrelin levels at 20, 40 and 60min after infusion of tryptophan were higher than after saline and 5-hydroxytryptophan infusion, 5-hydroxytryptophan infusion induced lower food intake than saline infusion, and tryptophan infusion increased food intake 2, 8 and 24h after infusion. In conclusion, oral tryptophan ingestion increased ghrelin expression in gastric fundus and plasma ghrelin level.  相似文献

An experiment with 29 crossbred female growing pigs (Dutch Landrace × Dutch Yorkshire) was carried out to measure the effect of daily energy intake on growth rate, N retention (according to the balance method) and composition of the weight gain. The weight gain composition was analysed by slaughtering pigs at regular intervals between 25 and 110 kg live weight. Two levels of daily energy intake, at an adequate protein intake, were used, and pigs on both treatments were slaughtered at the same age.Differences in daily energy intake affected growth rate and composition of the weight gain. Restriction of the daily energy intake by 20% caused a 15% lower live weight gain and a 12% lower N retention. Carcass muscle growth was 8% lower and fatty tissue growth was lower by 28%. Growth of bone was unaffected. Chemical analysis of different parts of the body revealed that reducing the daily energy intake by 20% caused an 8% lower protein deposition and a 28% lower fat deposition in the total body. However, there were differences between different anatomical parts of the body.Efficiency of pig meat production is discussed in relation to the effects of energy supply on weight gain composition.  相似文献

Automatic feeding systems in pig production allow for the recording of individual feeding behavior traits, which might be influenced by the social interactions among individuals. This study fitted mixed models to estimate the direct and social effects on visit duration at the feeder of group-housed pigs. The dataset included 74,413 records of each visit duration time (min) event at the automatic feeder from 135 pigs housed in 14 pens. The sequence of visits at the feeder was employed as a proxy for the social interaction between individuals. To estimate animal effects, the direct effect was apportioned to the animal feeding (feeding pig), and the social effect was apportioned to the animal that entered the feeder immediately after the feeding pig left the feeding station (follower). The data were divided into two subsets: “non-immediate replacement” time (NIRT, N = 6,256), where the follower pig occupied the feeder at least 600 s after the feeding pig left the feeder, and “immediate replacement” time (IRT, N = 58,255), where the elapsed time between replacements was less than or equal to 60 s. The marginal posterior distribution of the parameters was obtained by Bayesian method. Using the IRT subset, the posterior mean of the proportion of variance explained by the direct effect (Prpσ^d2) was 18% for all models. The proportion of variance explained by the follower social effect (Prpσ^f2) was 2%, and the residual variance (σ^e2) decreased, suggesting an improved model fit by including the follower effect. Fitting the models with the NIRT subset, the estimate of Prpσ^d2 was 20% but the Prpσ^f2 was almost zero and σ^e2 was identical for all models. For the IRT subset, the predicted best linear unbiased predictor (BLUP) of direct (Direct BLUP) and social (Follower BLUP) random effects on visit duration at the feeder of an animal was calculated. Feeder visit duration time was not correlated with traits, such as weight gain or average feed intake (P > 0.05), whereas for the daily feeder occupation time, the estimated correlation was positive with the Direct BLUP (r^ = 0.51, P < 0.05) and negative with the Follower BLUP (r^= −0.26, P < 0.05). The results suggest that the visit duration of an animal at the single-space feeder was influenced by both direct and social effects when the replacement time between visits was less than 1 min. Finally, animals that spent a longer time per day at the feeder seemed to do so by shortening the meal length of the preceding individual at the feeder.  相似文献

Solar radiation and high ambient temperatures negatively affect feeding time, performance, and animal welfare in several species. The provision of shade is a simple method that helps to minimize the negative effects. To determine whether shade influences feeding behavior, feed intake, and daily weight gain (DWG) in female goat kids, 40 dairy goat kids were used in 2 similar pens whose feeders were shaded (n = 20) or unshaded (n = 20) during 60 days. From May to July, behavioral data were collected through 10-minute scan samples during a 24-hour period for a total of 300 hours. Both pens were shaded on the opposite side to the feeder with 15 m2 each in a resting area. All goat kids were observed for their position inside the pen, and the number of times they were seen eating was recorded. When the concentrate was provided (between 13:00 and 13:30 hours, as usually in the farm), the time was recorded until >50% of the animals stopped feeding and went back to the resting area (concentrate test). Food wastes were collected and weighed daily to calculate the food consumption. Ambient and black globe temperatures were daily recorded. Body weight was recorded every week to calculate DWG. A higher percentage of animals feeding was recorded in the shaded feeders than that in the unshaded feeders (P < 0.05). Food refusal was higher in the unshaded feeders (30 ± 1.8%) than that in the shaded feeders (25 ± 1.9%; P = 0.05). The concentrate test duration was 26.6 minutes (±1.3) in the shaded feeders and 16.1 minutes (±1) in the unshaded feeders (P < 0.05). The concentrate test duration was negatively correlated to the ambient temperature in the unshaded animals (r = ?0.50 and r2 = 0.25; P = 0.02), and it was not significant in the shaded ones (r = ?0.23, r2 = 0.05; P > 0.05). DWG was not different between groups (0.08 ± 0.03 kg per group; P > 0.05). Results suggest that shade on feeders helps to ameliorate some negative effects of solar radiation increasing feeding time and feed intake in female goat kids. This could be of great interest to prevent performance and welfare negative affectations.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to obtain estimates of variance components and genetic parameters for direct and maternal effects on various growth traits in Beetal goat by fitting four animal models, attempting to separate direct genetic, maternal genetic and maternal permanent environmental effects under restricted maximum likelihood procedure. The data of 3,308 growth trait records of Beetal kids born during the period from 2004 to 2019 were used in the present study. Based on best fitted models, the direct additive h2 estimates were 0.06, 0.27, 0.37, 0.17 and 0.10 for birth weight (BWT), weight at 3 (WT3), 6 (WT6), 9 (WT9) and 12 (WT12) months of age, respectively. Maternal permanent environmental effects significantly contributed for 10% and 7% of total variance for BWT and WWT, respectively, which reduced direct heritability by 40 and 10% for respective traits from the models without these effects. For average daily gain (ADG1) and Kleiber ratios (KR1) up to weaning period (3 months) traits, maternal permanent environmental effects accounted for 7% and 8% of phenotypic variance, respectively, and resulted in a reduction of 6.6% and 5.4% in direct h2 of respective traits. For post-weaning traits, the maternal effects were non-significant (p > .05) which indicates diminishing influence of mothering ability for these traits. High and positive genetic correlations were obtained among WT3-WT6, WT6-WT9 and WT9-WT12 with correlations of 0.96 ± 0.25, 0.84 ± 0.23 and 0.90 ± 0.13, respectively. Thus, early selection at weaning age can be practised taking into consideration maternal variation for effective response to selection in Beetal goat.  相似文献

Using a multitrait animal model BLUP, selection was conducted over seven generations for growth rate (ADG), real-time ultrasound LM area (LMA), backfat thickness (BF), and intramuscular fat content (IMF) to develop a new line of purebred Duroc pigs with enhanced meat production and meat quality. This selection experiment examined 543 slaughtered pigs (394 barrows and 153 gilts) from the first to the seventh generation for meat quality traits. Further, electric impedance and collagen content of loin meat were measured from the fourth to sixth generation. The present study was intended to estimate genetic parameters of the correlated traits of tenderness (TEND), meat color (pork color standard: PCS; lightness = L*), drip loss (DL), cooking loss (CL), pH (PH), electric impedance (IMP), and collagen (COL) of the LM, and the genetic trends of these traits. Respective heritability estimates for IMF, TEND, DL, CL, PCS, L*, PH, IMP, and COL were 0.39, 0.45, 0.14, 0.09, 0.18, 0.16, 0.07, 0.22, and 0.23. Genetic correlations of IMF with ADG and BF were low and positive, but low and negative with LMA. Tenderness was correlated negatively with ADG (-0.44) and BF (-0.59), but positively correlated with LMA (0.32). The genetic correlation between LMA and DL was positive and high (0.64). The genetic correlations of TEND with IMF and COL were low (-0.09 and 0.26, respectively), but a moderate genetic correlation (0.43) between COL and IMF was estimated, suggesting related increases of IMF and connective tissue. Genetic correlations among meat quality traits suggested that when IMF increases, the water holding capacity improves. Genetic trends of meat quality traits showed increased IMF and lighter meat color.  相似文献

Tail length and tail lesions are the major triggers for tail biting in pigs. Against this background, 2 datasets were analyzed to estimate genetic parameters for tail characteristics and growth traits. Dataset 1 considered measurements for trait tail length (T-LEN) and for the growth traits birth weight (BW), weaning weight (WW), postweaning weight (PWW), and average daily gain (ADG) from 9,348 piglets. Piglets were born in the period from 2015 to 2018 and kept on the university Gießen research station. Dataset 2 included 4,943 binary observations from 1,648 pigs from the birth years 2016 to 2019 for tail lesions (T-LES) as indicators for nail necrosis, tail abnormalities, or tail biting. T-LES were recorded at 30 ± 7 d after entry for rearing (T-Les-1), at 50 ± 7 d after entry for rearing (end of the rearing period, T-LES-2), and 130 ± 20 d after entry for rearing (end of fattening period, T-LES-3). Genetic statistical model evaluation for dataset 1 based on Akaike’s information criterion and likelihood ration tests suggested multiple-trait animal models considering covariances between direct and maternal genetic effects. The direct heritability for T-LEN was 0.42 (±0.03), indicating the potential for genetic selection on short tails. The maternal genetic heritability for T-LEN was 0.05 (±0.04), indicating the influence of uterine characteristics on morphological traits. The negative correlation between direct and maternal effects for T-LEN of –0.35 (±0.13), as well as the antagonistic relationships (i.e., positive direct genetic correlations in the range from 0.03 to 0.40) between T-LEN with the growth traits BW, WW, PWW, and ADG, complicate selection strategies and breeding goal definitions. The correlations between direct effects for T-LEN and maternal effects for breeding goal traits, and vice versa, were positive but associated with a quite large SE. The heritability for T-LES when considering the 3 repeated measurements was 0.23 (±0.04) from the linear (repeatability of 0.30) and 0.21 (±0.06; repeatability of 0.29) from the threshold model. The breeding value correlations between T-LES-3 with breeding values from the repeatability models were quite large (0.74 to 0.90), suggesting trait lesion recording at the end of the rearing period. To understand all genetic mechanisms in detail, ongoing studies are focusing on association analyses between T-LEN and T-LES, and the identification of tail biting from an actor’s perspective.  相似文献

This study was to investigate the effects of the combination of deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone (ZON) on pigs. Twenty-four weaning piglets were divided into a control group fed a diet free of mycotoxins and a toxin group fed a diet containing 1 mg/kg DON and 250 µg/kg ZON. The results showed that supplementation of DON and ZON in diets had extensive effects on pigs. More specifically, DON and ZON caused levels of total protein, albumin, and globulin in sera to decrease (p < 0.05) by 14.5%, 6.5% and 11.3%, respectively, and at the same time increased (p < 0.05) the serum enzyme activities of γ-glutamyltransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase by 72.0%, 32.6% and 36.6%, respectively. In addition, DON and ZON decreased (p < 0.05) the level of anti-classical swine fever antibody titers by 14.8%. Real-time PCR showed that DON and ZON caused the mRNA expression levels of IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-2, to decrease (p < 0.05) by 36.0%, 29.0% and 35.4%, respectively. Histopathological studies demonstrated that DON and ZON caused abnormalities in the liver, spleen, lymph nodes, uterus, and kidney. The concentrations of DON and ZON used in this study are in line with the published critical values permitted by BML. Our study clearly put the standard and adequacy of safety measures for these toxins into question. The authors suggest that with the increasing availability of cellular and molecular technologies, it is time to revisit the safety standards for toxins in feeds so as to make feeds safer, providing consumers with safer products.  相似文献

Tail-in-Mouth (TIM) behaviour has occasionally been observed among pigs living under semi-natural conditions. It is therefore considered to be a normal, low-frequency behaviour. Under certain conditions, TIM behaviour may increase in frequency and progress into tail biting per se. Several factors, such as age, gender, and size, are believed to enhance this development. This study aimed to elucidate the frequency of TIM behaviour among slaughter pigs, specifically in relation to age, gender, size, and group composition regarding gender. Similarly, we intended to characterize the motivational context in which TIM behaviour occurs. Two batches consisting of 24 pigs each, weighing between 40 and 50 kg, were allocated into 3 groups: 1) Eight female pigs; 2) Eight castrated male pigs; 3) Four female and four castrated male pigs (mixed-gender group). Observation was performed by video recording 4 h per day, 1 day per week, for four consecutive weeks. The pigs were weighed once a week during the experiment. The number of TIM events (counts) as well as the identity of the performer and the receiver of TIM behaviour was recorded. The results showed that the frequency of TIM behaviour in the male group was significantly lower than in the female and mixed-gender groups (P=0.003). Size expressed as weight or growth rate did not influence the amount of TIM behaviour performed or received. TIM behaviour was positively related to social exploration and environmental exploration (P<0.001). Finally, TIM behaviour was most often performed while the pigs were standing still or lying down (P<0.001).  相似文献

Several trials with young pigs were conducted during an experimental period of 6 weeks to evaluate the effects on growth and immune responses of dietary supplementation with 10, 25 and 50 g/kg of E‐CAB‐94011, a fish extract rich in proteins, unsaturated fatty acids and endogenous anti‐oxidants. This extract was obtained using a lyophilization process consisting of three phases: freezing, primary drying and secondary drying. Conditions in the dryer were varied through the cycle to ensure that the resulting product had the desired physical and chemical properties, and that the required stability was achieved. A total of 360 pigs were randomly allocated according to initial bodyweight and divided into four groups of 90 pigs. The control diet contained hard red spring wheat, spray‐dried whey and soybean meal. The treatment diets were the control plus 10 g/kg, 25 g/kg and 50 g/kg of E‐CAB‐94011. Growth performance, plasma biochemical values, hematological values and humoral and cellular immune responses were measured. Results indicated that supplementation with E‐CAB‐94011 affects both growth and immune response. When the growth parameters of pigs were compared, the largest percentage improvement in growth was observed from weaning to 8–10 weeks of age. These experiments confirm that the use of E‐CAB‐94011 results in significant improvements, even when the herd of origin has a relatively high health status.  相似文献

Social genetic relationships among average daily gain (ADG, g) and feeding pattern as daily feed intake (DFI, g), daily feeder occupation time (DOT, min), and daily feeding rate (DFR, g/min) were examined using records of 547 Duroc boars. Single‐trait animal models were fitted differently for traits, including or excluding social genetic effects, random or fixed pen effects, with covariates of pen sizes and initial age or weight. Genetic parameters for feeding pattern were estimated by restricted maximum likelihood. Six sets of parameters for ADG based on literature estimates were used due to difficulty in untangling confounded effects. Positive and negative signs of direct‐social genetic covariances were interpreted as heritable cooperation and competition, respectively. Dominant and subordinate pigs were classified as pigs with higher direct and social genetic values, respectively. Correlations of estimated breeding values between ADG and DFI, DOT, and DFR were 0.46, 0.04 and 0.29 for dominant pigs. Given heritable cooperation, subordinate pigs tended to increase feed intake (r = 0.36) and eating rate (r = 0.25). Given heritable competition, subordinate pigs fail to compensate for the competition with decreased feed intake (r = ?0.53). The slow eating rate (r = ?0.31) was considered as a consequence of eating during less busy hour of feeding.  相似文献
