Booroola Merino (BM) and Finnsheep (FS) rams were mated to FS and crossbred (CO) ewes to compare their effects on the productivity of their mates and the performance of their progeny. Effects of breed of ram and the interaction of breed of ram X breed of ewe were no significant for fertility, total number born, number born alive, litter birth weight, or number of lambs weaned by the ewe or in the nursery. Birth weights of FS- and BM-sired lambs were equal, but FS-sired lambs were heavier at weaning and 147 d of age. Compared with BM-sired lambs, survival from birth to weaning of dam-reared lambs was greater for FS-sired lambs produced by CO dams than for FS-sired lambs produced by FS dams. At a constant live weight, FS-sired lambs had a heavier carcass with less external fat thickness than BM-sired lambs. Percentage of ewe lambs reaching puberty was lowest and age at puberty was highest for the BM X CO cross; relatively small differences existed between the other three genotypes for these traits. Ewe lambs sired by BM had a greater ovulation rate than FS-sired ewe lambs. Embryo mortality was greater in BM X CO ewe lambs than in ewe lambs of the other three genotypes; the difference was larger for ewes with three ovulations than for ewes with two ovulations. The net result was that BM X CO ewe lambs averaged slightly fewer lambs born than FS X CO ewes. The BM X FS ewe lambs had larger litters than the FS ewes due to a substantially higher ovulation rate and only a slightly lower overall embryo survival rate. With the exception of ovulation rate and litter size, FS rams produced lambs with a more desirable level of performance than did BM rams.  相似文献

Eighty-five animals were used to develop an embryo transfer programme including a study on how oestrus synchronization influenced the ovulation rate. The animals, both ewes and ewe lambs, were divided into three groups: donors, recipients and controls. Oestrus was synchronized in donors and recipients by the use of progesterone-impregnated vaginal pessaries. The donors also received one injection of 600 IU PMSG. Samples for microbiological investigation of the vaginal flora were taken in connection with synchronization. The ovulation rate was determined by laparoscopy in the control animals and by laparotomy in the donors and recipients. The embryos were surgically recovered from the donors by flushing of the uterine horns seven days after pessary removal. The embryos were classified according to developmental stage and quality. At transfer each recipient received 2–4 embryos (moruhs or blastocysts) by a surgical method. A ± 1 day asynchrony in oestrus between donors and recipients was tolerated. All synchronized animals came into oestrus within 2.5 days after pessary removal. The interval was shorter if the animals had been injected with PMSG. The largest number of ovulations occuwed in the synchronized and PMSG-treated animals (mean 4.5 ± 2.1). Synchronized animals that did not receive PMSG had almost the same ovulation rate as the control animals (2.6 ± 0.9 versus 2.5 ± 0.7). The pessary treatment influenced the bacterial flora of the vagina. The number of ewes with bacterial growth in the vagina increased. The number of isolated organisms also increased. The embryo recovery rate was 80.8% and 3.7 ± 2.7 ovas was recovered on average. Eighty-eight percent of all donors yielded transferable embryos. Morulas and blastocysts comprised 84.4% of the recovered oocytes/embryos. Only 5.2% of these were of poor quality. Of the transferred embryos, 65.1% developed into lambs and 91.3% of the recipients lambed. The ewe lambs were as suitable as donors and recipients as the older ewes.  相似文献

Thirty of 52 pedigree Suffolk lambs (58 per cent) were born with arthrogryposis characterised by bilateral flexion rigidity of the metacarpophalangeal and carpal joints. The recent introduction of a breeding ram was identified as the only significant risk factor in the flock, and embryo transfer was used to test the hypothesis that the arthrogryposis was an inherited disorder associated with the introduction of this ram. Two adult ewes that had previously produced lambs with arthrogryposis by the ram and four of its affected daughters were available as donors, and 20 crossbred ewes were used as recipients. Ten Suffolk-crossed ewes that had no known familial relationship with the ram were also mated by the ram as controls and they produced 10 normal lambs. Following embryo transfer, 19 lambs were born, of which seven were stillborn; arthrogryposis was evident in 10 of the 12 live lambs. Analysis of the data suggested that in the population under study, arthrogryposis was inherited as an autosomal recessive condition.  相似文献

Data on ovulation rate, litter size and embryo survival of 364 Sardi (S), D'man (D), S x DS, DS x S, S x D, D X S (F1), F2, D x DS and DS x D ewes mated for first and second lambing to F1 rams were analyzed. Breed group, birth group and season had significant effects on ovulation rate and litter size but not on embryo survival. D'man ewes had the highest ovulation rate (2.79) and litter size (2.00), with an essentially linear increase in each of these variables with percentage of D'man inheritance in the ewe (b = .017 +/- .001 CL and .009 +/- .001 lambs born). Embryo survival was influenced only by the number of ova shed. D'man direct genetic effects were higher (P less than .01) than those of Sardi for ovulation rate (+1.78) and litter size (+1.08) but did not differ for embryo survival (-.07). Maternal effects differed little for any of the three traits. Individual heterosis estimates were negative and significant for ovulation rate but not significant for litter size and embryo survival. Maternal heterosis and epistatic recombination effects were small and not significant for any trait.  相似文献

Ewes of five crossbred genotypes (total of 221 ewes) were immunized with a commercial preparation of androstenedione-7HSA in DEAE dextran adjuvant in a 2-yr trial. In yr 1 ewes were allocated within genotype to a 2 x 2 application of immunization and premating flushing. In yr 2 they were allocated within previous Fecundin treatment into either Fecundin-treated or control groups. First-time immunization with Fecundin increased ovulation rate by .70 ova/ewe in yr 1 and by .85 ova/ewe in yr 2 (P less than .05). Ewes treated in both years produced fewer ova than those treated in the 2nd yr only (P less than .05), but they did not differ in litter size. Although Fecundin reduced conception to first mating, the overall conception rate was not affected. Litter size of treated ewes was increased by .19 and .38 lambs/ewe lambing (P less than .05) in yr 1 and yr 2, respectively. Fecundin treatment in yr 1 produced a carry-over effect in yr 2 by increasing litter size by .26 lamb/ewe (P less than .05) while reducing conception to first mating. The litter size of ewes with two ovulations was reduced by Fecundin treatment in yr 1 (P less than .05) but showed no consistent pattern in yr 2. Overall, ewes with two ovulations produced .7 to .8 more lambs than ewes with one ovulation, and ewes with three ovulations produced .4 more lambs than those with two ovulations. Ewes of different genotypes did not differ in their response to Fecundin.  相似文献

Embryo transfer was carried out on nine Texel donor ewes, one of them on two occasions, over two breeding seasons (1980 and 1981). The donors were prepared for superovulation on the farm by two different regimens and the recipients were also synchronised on the farm of origin. Surgery was carried out on donors and recipients at a veterinary practice and the techniques of anaesthesia, surgery and embryo transfer are described. Superovulation was variable and more than two ovulations were seen in only four of the 10 ewes. Forty-one corpora lutea were produced by the 10 ewes and 27 embryos were recovered. Twenty-one embryos were transferred to recipients and 14 lambs were produced. All the 10 donors except one produced lambs themselves. The value, economics and welfare aspects of the technique of embryo transfer under practice conditions are discussed and it is concluded that the procedure should not be carried out routinely but reserved for special circumstances.  相似文献

旨在探讨以小尾寒羊和蒙古羊作为受体时,二者的胚胎移植效果及所产羔羊的早期生长性能之间的差异。选用南非肉用美利奴羊(n=11)和澳洲白绵羊(n=110)作为供体,以小尾寒羊(n=196)和蒙古羊(n=504)作为受体;对供体母羊进行超数排卵以及人工授精处理,记录供体母羊的收集胚胎总数和可用胚胎数,计算平均每只羊收集的可用胚胎数以及胚胎合格率;对小尾寒羊和蒙古羊进行同期发情及胚胎移植处理,记录受体母羊的产羔数,计算繁殖率;计算并比较不同受体母羊所产羔羊的平均初生重、成活率以及70日龄断奶羔羊数、70日龄断奶重、平均日增重、平均每只母羊提供的断奶羔羊数。结果表明,从供体母羊中共获得可用胚胎549枚,平均每只羊收集可用胚胎4.54枚,胚胎合格率为82.56%;利用胚胎移植技术,移植受体母羊529只,所产羔羊240只,平均繁殖率为45.37%;小尾寒羊的发情率和繁殖率明显高于蒙古羊;共获得70日龄断奶羔羊211只,羔羊成活率为87.92%,平均日增重为280.00g;小尾寒羊和蒙古羊所产的羔羊初生重没有显著差异(P>0.05),小尾寒羊所产羔羊的70日龄断奶重和平均日增重分别极显著(P<0.01)和显著(P<0.05)高于蒙古羊,而蒙古羊所产羔羊的成活率显著高于小尾寒羊(P<0.05);平均每只小尾寒羊母羊可提供的断奶羔羊数(0.42只)略高于蒙古羊(0.39只),小尾寒羊作为胚胎移植受体略具有优势。综合分析表明,在内蒙古兴安盟地区小尾寒羊和蒙古羊均可以作为胚胎移植的受体来使用。  相似文献

Pregnant ewes (large frame [LF] and small frame [SF]) were nutritionally stressed in early gestation (EGS), late gestation (LGS) or fed 100% of NRC requirements (unstressed, US) throughout gestation. Lambs (128) from these ewes were slaughtered at birth, weaning (18 kg), 41 kg or 55 kg. Sixty-four lambs received a 13% protein diet from weaning to either 41 or 55 kg. Lambs from SF ewes were fatter at 55 kg, had a higher numerical yield grade and a lower percentage of carcass protein. Lambs from US ewes were youngest at slaughter and had the most carcass weight and protein per day of age at 55 kg. The LGS lambs had the lowest percentage of lean and carcass protein at 41 and 55 kg. However, at birth these lambs had the highest concentration of RNA and DNA in muscle. The EGS lambs had the lowest quality grade, carcass weight per day of age and fat percentage. Muscle DNA and RNA at birth was lowest in EGS lambs. However, EGS lambs produced the highest lean percentage and highest percentage carcass protein at 41 and 55 kg. Shortest metacarpals and metatarsals were also found in these lambs at weaning and 41 kg. Although frame size had little effect on carcass characteristics, the effects of nutritional stress in the first 80 d of gestation were apparent in lambs slaughtered at 31 kg. Stress in the last 50 d of gestation had more effect on lambs slaughtered at 55 kg.  相似文献

A study was conducted to assess the effect of thermal, nutritional and combined stresses (thermal and nutritional) on the growth, oestradiol and progesterone levels during oestrus cycles in Malpura ewes. Twenty‐eight adult Malpura ewes were used in the present study. The ewes were randomly allocated into four groups, viz., GI (n = 7; control), GII (n = 7; thermal stress), GIII (n = 7; restricted feeding) and GIV (n = 7; combined stress). The animals were stall fed with a diet consisting of 60% roughage and 40% concentrate. GI and GII ewes were provided with ad libitum feeding while GIII and GIV ewes were provided with restricted feed (30% intake of GI and GII ewes) to induce nutritional insufficiency. GII and GIV ewes were kept in climatic chamber at 40°C and 55% RH for 6 h a day between 10:00 and 16:00 hours to induce thermal stress for a period of two oestrous cycles. Parameters studied were body weight, oestrus incidences, plasma oestradiol 17‐β, plasma progesterone, conception rate, gestation period, lambing rate, and birth weight of lambs. The results indicate that combined stress significantly (p < 0.05) reduced body weight, oestrus duration, birth weight of lambs, and oestradiol 17‐β whereas significantly (p < 0.05) increased oestrus cycle length and progesterone. Furthermore, the results reveal that on comparative basis, ewes were able to better adapt in terms of growth and reproduction to restricted feeding than thermal stress. However, when restricted feeding was coupled with thermal stress it had significant (p < 0.05) influence on body weight, average daily gain, oestradiol 17‐β and progesterone concentrations. This showed that combined stress were more detrimental for these reproductive hormones in Malpura ewes under a hot semi‐arid environment.  相似文献

A resource population of ewes derived from Dorset and Romanov grandparents was generated over 5 yr to provide genotypic and phenotypic data to estimate effects of each callipyge genotype on component traits of reproduction. Effects on ovulation rate were estimated from data recorded by examination of ovaries from serially slaughtered ewe lambs (n = 174) born in 1994 and 1995. Productivity and longevity through 5 yr of age were recorded on a total of 265 F2 ewes produced in 1996 through 1998. Number of lambs born, birth weights, and weaning weights of lambs were calculated for each ewe. Weaning weight was recorded for each lamb and adjusted for age to 56 and 32 d for dam- and nursery-reared lambs, respectively. Longevity was determined as a binary trait based on the presence or absence of the ewe in the breeding flock at 5 yr of age. Ewes generated 937 records for breeding weight and 925 records for conception rate, which was determined on ewes exposed and still present at the start of each lambing season. Seven hundred seventeen records were analyzed for traits based on the number of ewes lambing. Genotypes for the causative callipyge mutation were determined using a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry assay. Each ewe was classified into 1 of 4 genotypes; NMatNPat, NMatCPat, CMatNPat, or CMatCPat, where N represents wild type and C represents the mutant allele. The mean ovulation rate of the ewe lambs genotyped NMatNPat was greater (P < 0.02) than that exhibited by NMatCPat; however, the estimated difference of 0.25 ovum in the ewe lambs did not affect the number born. The live weight of NMatCPat ewes at breeding was 2.5 kg less than that of other genotypes (P < 0.01). The callipyge genotype class did not significantly affect conception rates, fecundity, maternal ability, or ewe longevity. Maintaining a ewe flock to produce homozygous mutant rams for use in terminal sire mating systems presents no unusual problems from a reproduction standpoint.  相似文献

Ewes in two trials were given either a high (H) or a low (L) level of premating nutrition for 19 wk followed by 6 wk of either H or L postmating nutrition to examine effects on reproductive performance. Trial 1 ewes were 5- to 8-yr-old Polypays and Trial 2 ewes were 3-yr-old Polypay and Coopworth x Polypay crosses. Ewes given L nutrition premating were either immunized with androstenedione-7-carboxyethylthioether:human serum albumin (also known as ovandrotone or Fecundin) in (diethylamino)ethyl-dextran adjuvant (Trial 1) or flushed for 3 wk premating (Trials 1 and 2) to enhance ovulation rates. All ewes were synchronized for mating in both trials. Trial 1 premating treatments created a difference of 10 kg in BW and 1.1 in condition score units between H and L ewes preflushing; flushing halved the BW difference. Ovulation rates averaged 2.58 and were similar for H, L-flushed, and L-immunized (LI) ewes; however, both conception rate and litter size were lowest for immunized ewes. Among both twin and triple-ovulating ewes, highest mean litter size was produced by H ewes, followed in order by L and LI ewes. High postmating nutrition increased BW by 6 kg vs slight weight loss in L ewes, but postmating treatments did not affect litter size of either twin or triple ovulators. The H and L premating groups of Trial 2 differed by 18 kg and 2.2 condition score units preflushing. The H ewes exhibited higher ovulation rates (overall mean = 2.63) but lower conception than the L ewes to synchronized estrus. Litter size averaged 2.15 for H ewes vs 1.82 for L ewes. Ewes from lines selected for high and low reproductive rate and a control line bred and selected randomly were endoscopically examined 3 to 5 d after breeding to determine ovulation rates in the fall of 1985, 1986 and 1987. Fertility (ewes lambing per ewe exposed), lambing rate (lambs born per ewe exposed) and litter size (lambs born per ewe lambing) were evaluated at lambing in the spring of each year. Embryonic survival was estimated as the number of lambs born per corpora lutea. Ovulation rates were 1.28, 1.73 and 1.46 for low, high and control lines, respectively. More (P less than .01) single ovulations occurred in low-line ewes than in the other two lines; high-line ewes had more (P less than .01) twin ovulations than did low- or control-line ewes. Fertility did not differ among lines. Selection line affected (P less than .01) lambing rate at first and all services. Control-line ewes had mean lambing rates at first and all services that were intermediate between those of the low and high lines, which were different from each other. Line x age of ewe interactions existed (P less than .01) for lambing rate at all services and litter size at first and all services. High-line ewes had lower lambing rates and litter sizes as 2-yr-olds than other lines, but their performance increased steadily to 6-yr-olds, whereas the low and control lines remained relatively constant. The ovulatory response of ewes from breeds that differ widely in prolificacy (Ile-de-France, ++ Booroola Merino, Romanov, F+ Booroola Merino and F+ Booroola Romanov with adult ovulation rates of about 1.5, 1.2, 3, 3 and 3.5 respectively) to 750 IU of hCG given at different physiological stages (before puberty, during anestrus or during the luteal phase) was compared. In all except one experiment, hCG induced ovulation in 73 to 98% of the lambs, indicating that follicles sensitive to LH were present at all stages studied. Ranking of the breeds according to hCG-induced ovulation rate in prepuberal lambs was similar to that based on adult ovulation rate. Furthermore, hCG induced more ovulations in prepuberal F+ than in ++ lambs (3.7 +/- 1.4 vs 1.7 +/- .8 at 4.5 mo of age) as well as in anestrous ewes (F + at 3.1 +/- 1.8 vs ++ at 1.6 +/- .7). Within ewes, the correlation between hCG-induced ovulation rate and mature ovulation rate was positive in nonprolific breeds but not significant in prolific breeds. We conclude that 1) the number of hCG-induced ovulations can be used to identify sheep that are carriers of the Booroola gene and 2) the mechanisms responsible for a number of large ovulatory follicles typical of a breed are present at stages (prepuberal, anestrus, luteal phase) other than the follicular phase.  相似文献

为了研究季节对杜泊羊体内胚胎生产效率及胚胎移植妊娠率的影响,于2016年选取内蒙古赛诺草原羊业有限公司种羊场经产纯种杜泊母羊作为供体,采用同期发情、超数排卵及腹腔镜人工输精等方法对供体羊进行处理后,利用手术冲胚的方法获得纯种杜泊羊胚胎,同时对受体羊进行同期发情处理和胚胎移植。经统计分析,2016年全年该公司共有放栓供体4 241只,超排处理4 180只,配种供体4 131只,冲胚供体3 987只,供体可用率为94.01%;冲出胚胎总数为23 516枚,可用胚胎18 002枚,胚胎可利用率为76.55%,平均每只供体能获得可用胚胎4.52枚。供体在10月、11月、12月冲胚所获得的平均冲胚数和平均可用胚数明显高于4月、5月、6月(P<0.05),其中10月的平均冲胚数和平均可用胚数最高(P<0.01),分别为7.04枚和5.62枚。将获得的部分胚胎用于胚胎移植,移植单胚怀孕受体数为4 446只,妊娠率为53.67%;移植双胚怀孕受体数805只,妊娠率65.02%。此外,受体在1月、3月、6月、12月受胎率较其他月份高(P<0.05)。该研究可为杜泊种羊超数排卵、胚胎移植和肉羊的产业化生产提供一定的数据参考。  相似文献

Six ewe genotypes, generated by mating Coopworth (C), Polypay (P), and Suffolk (S) rams to Polypay and Coopworth-type (Ct) ewes, were exposed to Hampshire rams for spring lambing from 1986 through 1990. Data from 1,092 exposures and 1,044 resultant lambings were used to analyze reproductive traits and lamb growth rates. Overall conception rate averaged 95% and ranged from 93% for S x Ct ewes to 97% for P x Ct ewes. Mean litter size at birth averaged 1.63 and ranged from 1.45 for C x C ewes to 1.75 for S x P ewes. Ewes from P dams had higher mean litter size (P less than .01) than those from Ct dams (1.73 vs 1.54), but differences between sire breeds were not significant. Incidence of lambing assistance was similar for ewes producing single or multiple lambs. Lamb birth weight influenced the level of assistance rendered to single-bearing but not to multiple-bearing ewes. Lambing assistance was not related to lamb survival, probably because the high surveillance level minimized trauma before assistance was rendered. Incidence of required assistance declined over subsequent parities. Lamb birth weights were affected by ewe genotype and increased with increasing ewe age. Survival of single-born lambs averaged 94% and was not affected by dam genotype. Survival of twins averaged 85%, ranging from 79% for lambs from S x Ct ewes to 89% for lambs from P x P ewes. Suffolk-sired ewes produced the heaviest mean birth and weaning weights for both singles and twins. Coopworth-sired ewes weaned heavier single lambs but lighter twins than P-sired ewes.  相似文献

An oocyte recovery procedure was developed and evaluated to determine whether a transcervical embryo recovery procedure is feasible with our method, which includes estradiol-17beta (E2) and oxytocin (OT) treatments, for dilating the cervix in ewes. On d 6 of an estrous cycle, oocytes were recovered either transcervically or with a laparotomy procedure. In the laparotomy group, ovulation rate was determined during the procedure and was used to calculate the percentage ofoocytes recovered. The laparotomy procedure was a standard uterine flush, and 12 mL of PBS was used to flush each uterine horn. In the transcervical group, the ovaries in each ewe were evaluated ultrasonically to determine ovulation rate. For transcervical recovery, 100 microg of E2 were injected i.v. on d 5 to increase cervical OT receptors, and 100 USP units of OT were injected i.v. 10 to 12 h later to dilate the cervix. Approximately 25 min after OT, ewes were placed in dorsal recumbency in a Commodore cradle, and a modified Foley catheter was passed through the cervix and into the uterus for injection (80 to 210 mL) and aspiration of PBS. The PBS was aspirated with a vacuum pump. The percentage of PBS recovered was greater (P<.01) at laparotomy than with the transcervical procedure (85.8 vs. 36.2%). Despite that difference, oocyte recovery did not differ significantly between the two groups (67% for laparotomy vs. 50% for transcervical; [oocytes recovered/number of corpora lutea] x 100), and there was no evidence that the transcervical procedure damaged the oocytes; the zona pellucida remained intact around all of the oocytes. In conclusion, a procedure that includes E2-OT-induced cervical dilation, passage of a modified Foley catheter into the uterus, and incremental infusion and aspiration of media through the catheter can be used to recover oocytes transcervically from ewes. This procedure may make transcervical embryo recovery feasible for sheep.  相似文献

In this study, the potential association of PrP genotypes with ewe reproductive traits and lamb growth traits was investigated. Data were included on ewes and lambs of the INRA 401 breed from the Bourges-La Sapinière INRA experimental farm. This breed was chosen because of good breeding (prolificacy and maternal abilities) and carcass qualities, and the large number of available animals with performance records and PrP genotypes. Ewes were categorized into 3 PrP genotype classes: ARR homozygous, ARR heterozygous, and animals without any ARR haplotype. Two analyses differing in the traits considered were carried out. Firstly, the potential association of the PrP genotype of ewes with their reproduction traits (fertility, litter size, and ovulation rate) was studied. The data included 801, 779, and 587 genotyped ewes for fertility, litter size, and ovulation rate, respectively. Secondly, the association of the PrP genotype of the ewes with growth traits of their lambs (birth weight, ADG between 10 and 30 d of age) was investigated. The data included 3,749 and 3,512 lambs for birth weight and ADG, respectively. The different traits were analyzed using an animal model, where the PrP genotype effect was included as a fixed effect. The reproductive traits were modeled under a probit or a threshold approach. The results of this study indicate no evidence of an association between PrP genotypes and reproductive and growth traits. It is unlikely that selection for scrapie resistance will have an effect on the reproductive or performance traits studied in the INRA 401 breed.  相似文献

试验通过使用人工授精后绵羊作为受体进行胚胎移植,以寻找一种更加有效的方法提高绵羊胚胎移植的经济效益。试验中使用FSH对10只无角道赛特绵羊进行超数排卵处理,同时对60只受体小尾寒羊进行同期发情。供体羊在发情配种后4.5~5.0d从子宫角收集胚胎。同时,将胚胎移植到同期发情并进行人工授精的受体羊子宫内。总共有57枚可用胚移植给44只受体小尾寒羊,32只怀孕到分娩,共产下羔羊51只(无角道赛特羔28只,道赛特与小尾寒羊杂种羔23只)。此外,经人工授精但未进行手术移植的7只小尾寒羊产下15只杂种羔羊。移胚植受体妊娠率72.7%(32/44),移胚受体繁殖率118%(51/44),受体利用率88.3%(53/60)。移胚受体总妊娠率和受体利用率均显著高于常规ET组(P<0.01)。与常规胚胎移植相比,受体羊人工授精后移植胚胎不仅提高了无角道赛特母羊的繁殖率,而且提高了受体羊的利用率。  相似文献

Feed scarcity during hot summer months is one of the major predisposing factors for low reproductive efficiency of livestock reared in hot semiarid environment. A study was conducted to assess the effect of concentrate supplementation during summer months on growth, reproductive performance, and blood metabolites in Malpura ewes. Twenty adult Malpura ewes were used in the present study. The ewes were divided into two groups viz, group 1 (n?=?10; control) and group 2 (n?=?10; concentrate supplementation). The study was conducted for a period of 35 days covering two estrus cycles. In the first cycle, only PGF was given to all ewes, while in second cycle, all ewes were synchronized for estrus using progesterone-impregnated intravaginal sponges and pregnant mare serum gonadotropin. The animals were allowed for grazing for 8–10 h per day. Apart from grazing, group 2 ewes were supplemented with concentrate mixture at 1.5 % of body weight. Concentrate supplementation had significant influence on body weight, ADG, estrus percentage, estrus duration, onset of estrus, ovulation response, plasma glucose, total protein, and urea. The present study reveals that ewes supplemented with concentrate mixture at 1.5 % of body weights during summer season significantly influenced the growth and reproductive performance of Malpura ewes. Further, the study signifies the importance of providing additional feed supplementation to ewes kept grazing under the conditions of a hot, semiarid environment to improve their reproductive efficiency.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of certain embryo transfer parameters on the pregnancy rate after equine embryo transfer of the Brazilian Jumper Horse breed. The size, embryonic development stage, embryo quality, and synchronization of ovulation between the donor (n = 120) and recipient (n = 420) were evaluated in 396 embryos. Embryo recovery was performed on Day 6-9 after ovulation (Day 0 = day of ovulation). The recipient mares were chosen on the day of embryo recovery, and the transfers were performed that same day. The embryo size (diameter including envelopes; n = 396) ranged from 150 to 3000 μm; 67.1% measured between 400 and 1199 μm. The embryo size (400-1199 μm vs. ≤399 μm); stage of development (n = 396; blastocyst and expanded blastocyst versus compact morula and early blastocyst); quality (n = 396; grade 1 [excellent]), 2 [good], or 3 [poor]); and synchronization of ovulation between the donor and recipient (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 days versus −1, 5, and 6 days, respectively) all affected pregnancy rate (P < .05). The pregnancy rate did not differ significantly among transfers performed on Days 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. In conclusion, embryos measuring 400-1199 μm produced higher pregnancy rates in recipients than embryos measuring 150-399 μm, and blastocysts and expanded blastocysts produced pregnancy more efficiently than morulae and early blastocysts. The embryo quality also affected the pregnancy rate. Synchronization of donor and recipient ovulation to Days 0-4 improved the efficiency of embryo transplant.  相似文献
