N-halamine precursor 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidinol (TMP), a hindered amine light stabilizer, was bonded onto cotton fabric by using 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) as a crosslinking agent. A variety of treating conditions including TMP concentration, curing temperature and time, and catalyst were studied. The treated fabrics were characterized using FTIR spectra and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The cotton fabric treated with TMP precursor could be rendered biocidal upon exposure to dilute household bleach. The chlorinated cotton swatches showed great efficacy and inactivated 100 % of Staphylococcus aureus with 7.1 log reduction with 5 min of contact and 83.25 % of E. coli O157:H7 at 10 min of contact. In addition, the wrinkle recovery angle of the treated cotton fabrics increased from 229 ° of untreated cotton fabrics to 253 °. This study provided a practical finishing process to produce cotton fabrics with easy care and antibacterial functionalities at the same time.  相似文献

α-amylase and pectinase showed good compatibility. A desizing ratio of 95.4 %, a pectin removal rate of 80.4 % and a capillary effect height of 7.1 cm for cotton fabrics treated with α-amylase and pectinase were obtained by a one-bath for bio-desizing and bio-scouring process under the condition of 90 °C for 30 min. After the treatment of the nonionic surfactant Peregal O at 100 °C for 20 min, these important properties for the cotton fabrics were further improved to 98.7 %, 96.8 %, and 18.4 cm separately. The capillary effect height of desized cotton fabrics was improved from 0.2 cm to 6.4 cm by the removal of waxes because its hydrophobic nature of the cotton fabrics. The whole time for this new combining process with high temperature treatment was significantly shortened and it only took about 55 minutes.  相似文献

In this study, a facile method was developed to coat AgCl nanoparticles (NPs) onto knitted cotton fabrics. The AgCl NPs were characterized by ultraviolet absorption spectrum, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and dynamic laser light scattering (DLS). The AgCl NPs were coated onto cotton fabrics through a pad-dry-cure process with the assistance of 1,2,3,4- butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ICP-OES analysis and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) confirmed that AgCl NPs were successfully coated onto cotton fabrics. The prepared cotton samples exhibited excellent antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive S. aureus and Gram-negative K. pneumonia bacteria. Rat skin fibroblast cytotoxicity testing demonstrated the treated cotton fabrics to be non-toxic. The washing durability evaluation showed that the antimicrobial function of cotton fabrics was durable to washing. In addition, the wrinkle resistance of the coated cotton fabrics was improved and there was no obvious change in whiteness.  相似文献

This study reports the results of an investigation aiming at finding what affect nano titania (TiO2) and nano strontium titanate (SrTiO3) on self-cleaning of cotton fabrics. The photocatalytic activity of nano strontium titanate has been examined on cotton fabric under UV irradiation in various concentrations in mixing of nano titania. The amount of loaded nano titania and nano strontium titanate particles on cotton fabrics were investigated using X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) and crystallinity of coatings by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD). The treated cotton fabrics, which were stained with two common synthesized dyes, were exposed to 400 W UV radiation for 30 hours and their self-cleaning property was investigated by a reflectance spectrophotometer. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images show pervasion of nano materials on the surface of the treated cotton. Adding nano strontium titanate to nano titania showed the most promising photocatalytic activity toward dye degradation.  相似文献

The paper discusses a method to functionalize cotton fabrics using biologically active natural compounds to achieve the antibacterial characteristics required for medical application. The biologically active natural compounds include propolis, beeswax, and chitosan. Three 100 % cotton knitted fabrics with different degrees of compactness were impregnated in the emulsions containing the active ingredients and fabric variant G3 with the highest degree of impregnation was considered for the evaluation of the antibacterial properties and comfort characteristics. The results show that the treated cotton fabric had high antibacterial activity against both gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus β haemolytic, and gram negative bacteria Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The presence of the biologically active natural compounds on the cotton substrates modified the surface of the textile fibers as seen in the SEM images. The treatment also improved fabric comfort properties, the cotton substrates became less air permissive and more hygroscopic after the treatment. The experimental results indicated that propolis, beeswax and chitosan can be applied as an emulsion to functionalize cotton textile materials. The antibacterial performance of the functionalized fabrics suggested that the cotton fabrics treated with those biologically active natural compounds have the potentials to be used in medical fields.  相似文献

A novel reactive flame retardant (FR) containing phosphorus, nitrogen, and silicon was synthesized successfully, and its chemical structure was fully characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry (1H-NMR and 31P-NMR). Then it was used to impart flame resistance to cotton fabrics. Vertical flammability and limiting oxygen index test were used to evaluate the flame retardancy of the cotton fabrics treated with FR. When the cotton treated with 150 g/l FR and 50 g/l sodium hypophosphite, the finished cotton can pass the vertical flammability test. Thermogravimetry (TG) was used to evaluate thermal behavior of FR and cotton fabrics. TG results demonstrated that the FR has good thermostability and char-forming ability. After treatment with FR, the thermal stability of the cotton fabrics was clearly improved, indicating that the FR can protect cotton fabric from fire to a certain degree. Furthermore, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was utilized to characterize the chemical structure of FR treated cotton fabrics. Finally, the surface morphology in different regions of the treated cotton was observed using scanning electron microscopy.  相似文献

Cellulose fabrics (viscose and cotton) were treated with atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in air. After DBD treatment, samples were characterized and volume electrical resistance was measured under different relative humidity conditions (φ=40-55 %). Results have shown that DBD treatment increases wettability and polar surface functional groups content, which consequently causes a decrease of volume electrical resistivity of cellulose fabrics in measured relative humidity range (φ=40-55 %). Metal ions (silver, copper, and zinc) were incorporated in untreated and plasma treated samples through sorption from aqueous solutions and incorporation of metal ions into plasma treated cellulose samples decreased electrical resistivity even further. Resistivity of cotton and viscose fabrics with incorporated metal ions followed the order Zn2+ > Cu2+ > Ag+. The most pronounced decrease, for entire order of a magnitude, was obtained by modification of cotton fabric with DBD and silver ions, where value of resistivity dropped from GΩ to a several dozens of MΩ.  相似文献

This paper presents a facile and novel approach for the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles in aqueous solution based on a one-step reaction between a modified hyperbranched polymer (PNP) and zinc nitrate. The prepared ZnO nanoparticles polymeric hybrid was characterized and its antibacterial activity was investigated. The results indicated that the ZnO nanoparticles have an average size about 6 nm and well dispersed in aqueous medium. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of them was 20 ppm and 60 ppm against S. aureus and E. coli, respectively. For the functional finishing of cotton fabrics by these ZnO nanoparticles, a microwave assisted in situ fabrication method was employed. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements confirmed that the ZnO nanoparticles in situ generated in cotton fabrics successfully. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic investigation demonstrated that the ZnO nanoparticles were fixed on the cotton fibers by PNP. The treated cotton fabrics exhibited excellent UV protective properties and antibacterial activities. When ZnO content of cotton fabric was 1.49 %, the UPF value of treated cotton fabric exceeded 125 and the bacterial reduction rate against S. aureus and E. coli reached 99.97 % and 98.40 %, respectively.  相似文献

In this study silver nanoparticles with different particle sizes and hence colors were synthesized on silk and cotton fabrics through reduction of silver nitrate. Particle sizes of the silver colloids were measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS). The structure and properties of the treated fabrics were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV-Vis reflectance spectroscopy. Various characteristics of the treated fabrics including antibacterial activities against a Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and a Gram negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria, color effect, wash and light fastness, water absorption, fabric rigidity, and UV blocking properties were also assessed. The results indicated that the treated fabrics displayed different colors in the presence of silver nanoparticles with different particle sizes and exhibited good and durable fastness properties. Also, the size of the silver particles had a tangible effect on antibacterial activity of treated fabrics and its antibacterial performance was improved by decreasing the size of particles. Moreover, this process imparted significantly UV blocking activity to fabric samples.  相似文献

A novel antibacterial agent polysulfopropylbetaine (PSPB) bearing carboxyl groups was synthesized and its application on cotton fabric to provide durable antibacterial property was also presented. The successful synthesis of PSPB and its immobilization onto the cotton fabric surface were verified by a series of tests including FTIR, 1H NMR, XPS and SEM. Viable cell counting method was employed to investigate antibacterial properties of the finished cotton fabrics. It was found that the cotton fabrics treated with PSPB were endowed with desirable antibacterial activity against both gram-negative bacteria Esherichia coli (E.coli, AATCC 6538) and gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus, AATCC 25922), with the bacterisotatic rates of 99.69 % and 99.95 %, respectively. Notably, the bacterial reduction rates still maintained over 90 % against both bacteria even after 50 consecutive laundering cycles. Moreover, tests concerning the hydrophilicity, air permeability, water vapor transmission, mechanical properties as well as thermal properties were carried out systematically. The experimental results indicated the hydrophilic performance, air permeability and moisture penetrability of the cotton fabrics finished with PSPB were improved greatly in spite of a slight reduction in thermal performance and little obvious influence on mechanical performance. The antibacterial cotton fabric has the potential to be applied in sportswear, underwear, household textiles, medical fields and much more.  相似文献

Emblica officinalis G. dried fruit tannin was extracted and applied as a natural mordant alone and in combination with metal mordant namely copper sulphate for dyeing on cotton and silk fabrics using natural dyes. The color strength, color-coordinates, wash and light fastness were also evaluated for cotton and silk fabrics with and without mordanting. The pre-mordanted cotton and silk fabrics on dyeing gave better color strength, wash and light fastness than those dyeing obtained without mordanting. The total phenolic content of the extract was calculated. Cotton and silk fabrics resulted in good antibacterial activity using the Emblica officinalis G. mordant. When mordant was used along with 0.5 and 1 % copper sulphate mordant and the activity enhanced and was active up to 20 washes.  相似文献

The fading of the triazinylstilbene fluorescent brighteners (TFBs) on cotton fabric under the conditions of exposure to sunlight and human sweat may reduce the visual quality and added value of the garment and also produce many toxic substances, which could threaten human health due to direct contact with skin. In order to investigate the light-fastness and perspiration stability of TFBs on cotton fabrics, three environmental factors of affecting the photo-fading of TFBs, i.e., ultraviolet irradiation, wet condition, and atmospheric constituents, were discussed according to AATCC standard. The results indicated that the effect of ultraviolet irradiation was more significant than its visible counterpart on the light and perspiration stability of TFBs on cotton fabrics. The light stability of TFBs was susceptible to the wet environment, and the presence of moisture accelerated the rate of photo-fading of TFBs. Furthermore, the study on the contribution of atmospheric constituents disclosed that the oxygen in the air together with the moisture of perspiration would make the synergistic effect on the fading of TFBs.  相似文献

In the presence of Pt catalyst, α,ω-hydrogenpolysiloxane reacted with allyl glycidyl ether, and an intermediate α,ω-diepoxysiloxane was formed. The epoxy cyclic-opening reaction was conducted between the intermediate and polyetheramine in isopropanol solution, the silicone polyetheramine block copolymer (BPEAS) was thus made. The chemical structures of BPEAS were characterized using IR and 1H-NMR separately. Then cotton fabric was treated with BPEAS for application purpose. The finishing effects were tested in terms of film morphology, hydrophilic ability, softness and mechanical properties. The recorded results showed that BPEAS can be used directly to treat cotton fabrics without adding any emulsifier at the viscosity of 6700 mPa·s and amino value of 0.6009 mmol/g. Bending rigidity and hysteresis of the treated fabric decreased by 53.53 % and 67.39 %, the drape coefficient dropped by 15 %, whereas the wrinkle recovery angle increased by 57.14 %. The treated cotton fabric is hydrophilic, and has a bulky soft hand, better anti-wrinkle property compared to the untreated one.  相似文献

This research presents a novel strategy to fabricate multi-functional cotton textiles. In this study, silver nanoparticles-sericin (Ag NPS-sericin) hybrid colloid has been prepared using sericin as reducing agent and dispersing agent. Cotton fabrics was oxidized selectively with sodium periodate (NaIO4) to generate oxidized cotton fabrics, and which has then been finished using Ag NPS-sericin hybrid colloid prepared to obtain multi-functional cotton textiles. The finished cotton fabric not only possessed excellent antibacterial activity, but also it was modified functionally by sericin protein, which endowed antibacterial cotton fabrics relatively smooth surface and good wear ability. Fourier transform infrared spectrogram confirmed that sericin protein was grafted onto cellulose fibers. Ag NPs were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The results of SEM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and EDS confirmed that silver nanoparticles and sericin been loaded successfully on the surface of cotton fabrics. The antibacterial experiments showed bacterial reduction rates of S.aureus and E.coli were able to reach above 99 %. After washing 20 times, it showed still good antibacterial activity at over 95 % against S.aureus and E.coli.  相似文献

In this study, natural dyes were extracted from five plants, namely diospyros kaki, dioscorea cirrhosa, millettia (jixueteng), ecliptae, and macrocarpa nucuma, using environmentally-friendly solvents, including ethanol and deionized (DI) water. A plant mordant, tannin extracted from Emblica officinalis G., and a metal mordant, copper sulfate, were used in the pre-dyeing process. Cotton and silk fabric samples were treated using the five natural dyes without and with mordanting for comparison on their color strength and characteristics as well as protection against ultraviolet radiation (UVR). Results revealed that Emblica officinalis G. had the highest total phenol content, followed by dioscorea cirrhosa. The presence of abundant phenolic groups in the natural dyes and mordant makes them effective coloration agents for fabrics. Cotton and silk fabrics dyed using ecliptae without pre-mordanting had the highest K/S values. Silk fabrics had higher K/S values than cotton fabrics, indicating greater color strength in pre-mordanted silk treated with DI water-extracted dyes. Natural mordant used before treatment with natural dyes contribute to significant enhancement in color strength, and Emblica officinalis G. alone could darken the color of cotton and silk fabrics dyed with plant pigment. Moreover, treatment with natural dyes after mordanting can increase ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) and the enhancement in UVR protection is greater and more significant in cotton fabrics than in silk fabrics, and in fabrics treated with DI water-extracted natural dyes than in those treated with ethanol-extracted ones. In conclusion, pre-dyeing with natural mordant followed by treatment with natural dyes extracted using environmentally-friendly solvents can enhance significantly K/S and UPF, offering directions for manufacturing textiles without environmental hazards but with good appearance and health benefits.  相似文献

The surface morphology of the CO2 laser treated grey cotton fabrics was studied which showed a characteristics sponge-like structure on cotton fibres after treating with CO2 laser irradiation. The laser treatment parameters ranging from 100 to 150 pixel time and 40 to 70 dot per inch (dpi) were irradiated on the grey cotton fabrics directly and the degree of physical modifications, such as surface morphology, wettability and fabric strength, were changed accordingly with various laser treatment parameters. The surface morphology, wettability and tensile strength of cotton fibre treating with laser were evaluated using different instruments, such as Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), contact angle meter and tensile strength machine. In spite of creating a sponge-like structure on fibre surface after treating with laser, the wettability of the samples was highly improved but the tensile strength was decreased.  相似文献

Cotton fabrics were dyed with three commercial vat dyes in order to provide camouflage in Vis-NIR regions and imitate reflectance profile of greenish leaves. To investigate the effect of nano particles on camouflage properties of dyed fabric, nano particles of TiO2 were applied on dyed fabrics using pad-dry-cure method. The nano TiO2 padded dyed fabrics were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Reflectance curves of coated dyed samples with different concentrations of nano TiO2 were measured. Results showed that in both of the standard shades, nano TiO2 increases the reflectance value in NIR region and with increasing the concentration of nano TiO2, the reflectance curves of samples tend to show the maximum reflection of greenish leaves (deciduous leaves) in NIR region. Chromatic values (CIE1976 L*, a*, and b*) and color difference (according to CIECMC color difference ΔE*cmc (2:1)) of each of the coated samples were measured using the reflection spectrophotometer. By considering the influence of white color of nano TiO2 on green shade of dyed cotton fabrics and increasing the color difference (between coated samples and the standard shades of the 1948 U.S army pattern) in visible range, optimum concentrations of nano TiO2 for development of camouflage properties on cotton fabrics in both NIR and visible region were determined. These values for NATO and forest green shades were 0.75 % and 0.5 %, respectively. Fastness results showed that both of the samples have acceptable color fastness. The effect of washing and exposure to light on camouflage properties of coated dyed fabrics in visible (in term of chromatic values) and NIR region (in term of spectral reflectance) was investigated when those were coated in optimum concentrations of nano TiO2. The results showed that the effect of after treatments (washing and exposure to light) on surface color spectral characteristics and camouflage properties was inconsiderable.  相似文献

Formulations of acrylamido dyes containing comonomers can be photografted onto cotton fabric upon UV irradiation at room temperature without neutral salts, which makes it a novel coloration process of excellent environmental friendliness. The photografting of the dyes can be assisted by the copolymerization of the acrylamide comonomer which may reduce the steric hindrance of the bulky dyes. About 90 % of the dyes and 94 % of the acrylamide are photopolymerized in the solution and the degree of polymerization is estimated to be 13.2 according to 1H-NMR and MALDI-TOF mass analyses. The optimal K/S values of the grafted cotton fabrics showed 13.3 and 12.3 for red and yellow dyes, respectively. The optimal UV-grafting coloration can be achieved when a UV energy of 25 J/cm2 was irradiated on the padded fabrics with a formulation of 0.65 mole ratio of acrylamide to the dyes, 7 wt% acetophenone photoinitiator (Irgacure 2959) based on the dye weight under pH 6. Furthermore, the color fastness properties of the grafted fabric were superior to those of conventional reactive dyeing of the dyes due to higher molecular weight of the polymerized dyes.  相似文献

An attempt has been made in this paper to investigate antimicrobial property of glycyrrhiza extract on cotton fabric. Uniform glycyrrhiza powders were obtained by superfine grinding. The particle size distribution of powders was mostly around 1 μm. Effects of ultrasonic on dispersion capability of glycyrrhiza powders were investigated. With the extension of ultrasonic time the value of zeta potential decreased significantly from ?22 to ?31 mV. Flavanone compounds which exhibit inhibitory effects against multiple viruses were extracted by ethanol from superfine glycyrrhiza powders. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to test the antibacterial properties of the fabrics treated by glycyrrhiza extract. The results showed that the inhibition rates against S. aureus and E. coli were 81.75 and 73.81 % respectively indicating that the finished fabrics exhibited good antibacterial property. It retained about 30 % of its inhibition to S. aureus after 10 cycles of laundering. However, the fabrics treated with sol of glycyrrhiza exhibited more resistance to washing with 71.43 % inhibition rate after 5 times washing. The whiteness index of glycyrrhiza exact treated fabrics decreased from 93.28 to 90.22 % indicating that glycyrrhiza exact had little influence on the whiteness of fabrics.  相似文献

Cotton fabrics were dyed with the natural chlorophyll derivates (chlorophyllin, Chlin) after treatment with and without chitosan. The water-soluble Chlin extracted from Sasa veitchii based on Japanese bamboo leaves were investigated in order to improve the textile coloration and antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial activity of the dyed fabrics that had been pretreated with chitosan as a biomordant over a concentration range of 0∼0.7 % was tested against two common gram pathogens: Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The color depth as measured by the K/S value, the color difference and the colorfastness to washing and light were also evaluated. The fabrics treated with chitosan resulted in an increase in dye uptake in all cases compared with the corresponding untreated fabrics, and did not affect fastness of washing and light. The cotton fabrics dyed with mordant and CuSO4 extracts appeared to have over 99.9 % of antimicrobial activity, while MeOH extracts showed 71.8 %.  相似文献
