Visible (Vis)/near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is an excellent technique for non-destructive fruit quality assessment. This research was focused on evaluating the use of Vis/NIR spectroscopy for measuring soluble solids content (SSC) of intact ‘Cuiguan’ pears (Pomaceae pyrifolia Nakai cv. Cuiguan) on-line. Also, the effect of fruit moving speed on SSC measurements was investigated. Diffuse transmission spectra were collected using a fiber spectrometer equipped with a 3648-element linear silicon CCD array detector in the wavelength range of 345–1040 nm, and all sample spectra were collected three times at different fruit moving speeds of 0.3 m s?1, 0.5 m s?1 and 0.7 m s?1. Spectral pre-processing such as derivative, standard normal variate transformation (SNV) and multiplicative scatter correction (MSC) was used before calibration. Partial least squares (PLS) and least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) were used to develop calibration models for SSC. The results show that fruit moving speed has few effects on spectra and model performance at a fruit moving speed of 0.3–0.7 m s?1. At 0.5 m s?1, the best model for SSC was PLS regression coupled with original spectra, its coefficient of determination (R2) and root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) being 0.916% and 0.530%, respectively.  相似文献

The feasibility of non-destructive estimation of internal ethylene concentration (IEC) in apple fruit via fruit reflectance using recently developed approaches and a fiber-optics reflectometer was investigated. The relationships between IEC and fruit reflectance in the 400–800 nm range were studied in stored apple (Malus × domestica Borkh., cv. Antonovka) fruit. A strong correlation between IEC and optical reflectance spectra taken from sunlit surfaces of the fruit was detected whereas reflectance of the shaded fruit surface showed a weak correlation with IEC. The increase of the reflectance in the red occurred along with IEC build-up during ripening resulting a strong (r2 > 0.80) correlation. By contrast, reflectance in the blue-green part of the spectrum remained low and was negatively (r2  0.65) correlated with IEC. These observations are consistent with the phenomenon of degradation of chlorophylls which often occurs in parallel with the retention of carotenoids in ripening apple skin. As a result, IEC showed a significant correlation (r2 > 0.69; P < 0.001) with the index based on reflectances in the red and blue-green regions of the spectrum (R678 ? R480)/R800. The effects of strong solar light on the relationships between IEC and fruit reflectance are considered. The possibilities and limitations of a non-destructive reflectance-based assay of IEC in apple fruit are discussed.  相似文献

Apples can be stored for long time under controlled temperature and atmosphere conditions, and therefore, non-destructive and rapid tools are required to assess fruit quality and to monitor changes during the postharvest period. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of NIR spectroscopy to optimize postharvest apple management and to follow changes in fruit quality during storage. An FT-NIR system operating in diffuse reflectance in the range 12,500–3600 cm−1 was used to evaluate the physico-chemical (dry matter, soluble solids, colour and firmness) and some nutraceutical characteristics (total phenolics, total flavonoids and antioxidant activity) of ‘Golden Delicious’ apples, which were stored for about six months at 1 °C in controlled atmosphere, over two subsequent years. Spectral data were elaborated by PLS regression and LDA classification techniques. Good correlation models between spectral data and chemical and physical parameters were obtained for soluble solids, a* colour coordinate and firmness (0.81 < R2 < 0.90 in calibration and 0.79 < R2 < 0.89 in cross validation). Even higher correlation values (0.89 < R2 < 0.95 in calibration and 0.86 < R2 < 0.92 in cross validation) were obtained for indexes correlated to the antioxidant capacity of apples. The classification technique Linear Discriminant Analysis was applied to spectral data, in order to discriminate apples on the basis of storage time. Average correct classification was higher than 93% in validation and close to 100% in calibration, indicating high potential of NIR spectroscopy for the estimation of storage time of apple lots.  相似文献

‘Galia’ (Cucumis melo var. reticulatus L. Naud. cv. Galia) fruit were harvested at the three-quarter slip stage and treated with 1 μL L−1 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) at 20 °C for 24 h. The fruit were processed and stored as fresh-cut cubes and intact fruit for 10 d at 5 °C. Ethylene production of fresh-cut cubes was approximately 4–5-fold higher than intact fruit at day 1. Afterward, the ethylene production of fresh-cut cubes declined significantly whereas that of intact fruit remained relatively constant at about 0.69–1.04 ng kg−1 s−1. 1-MCP delayed mesocarp softening in both fresh-cut and intact fruit and the symptoms of watersoaking in fresh-cut fruit. Continuously stored fresh-cut cubes and cubes derived from intact fruit not treated with the ethylene antagonist softened 27% and 25.6%, respectively, during 10 d storage at 5 °C while cubes derived from 1-MCP-treated fruit softened 9% and 17%, respectively. Fresh-cut tissue from 1-MCP-treated fruit exhibited slightly reduced populations of both total aerobic organisms and Enterobacterium, although the differences did not appear to be sufficient to explain the differences in keeping quality between 1-MCP-treated and control fruit. Based primarily on firmness retention and reduced watersoaking, 1-MCP treatment deferred loss of physical deterioration of fresh-cut ‘Galia’ cubes at 5 °C by 2–3 d compared with controls.  相似文献

Peel yellowing is a major postharvest problem of lime fruit. Research was conducted to control peel yellowing by UV-B irradiation. Mature green lime fruit were irradiated with UV-B doses at 0 (control), 8.8, and 13.2 kJ m?2 and then stored at 25 °C in darkness. UV-B treatment at 8.8 kJ m?2 efficiently delayed the decrease of chlorophyll content. A high level of chlorophyllide a accumulated in mature green fruit and then gradually decreased with the progress of peel yellowing. The chlorophyllide a level was higher in 8.8 kJ m?2 UV-B-treated fruit than it was in the controls. The pheophorbide a level declined in lime fruit treated with 8.8 kJ m?2 UV-B, especially during the development of yellowing. In addition, the pheophytin a level increased by 8.8 kJ m?2 UV-B treatment at the late period of storage. We concluded that UV-B treatment effectively suppressed chlorophyll degradation in mature green lime during storage, which suggests that UV-B irradiation is a usable method for prolonging the postharvest life of lime fruit.  相似文献

Wooden bin-stored ‘Bartlett’ pears (Pyrus communis L.) were hydrocooled (HC) or forced-air cooled (FAC) and immediately treated or not with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) for 24 h. 1-MCP gas concentrations used were 0, 0.3 or 0.6 μL L?1 (called 0, 0.3 and 0.6, respectively). Fruit were subsequently kept at 20 °C for 20 d or stored at ?0.5 °C and 95% RH for 60, 90, 120 or 150 d. After cold storage, fruit were kept at 20 °C for up to 16 d for further ripening. In another experiment, pears stored in wooden bins (W) or plastic bins (P) were all hydrocooled, treated or not with 0.5 μL L?1 1-MCP (called 0.5 and 0, respectively), stored at ?0.5 °C and 95% RH for 0, 30, 60, 90 or 120 d, and transferred to 20 °C for further ripening. In FAC pears, increasing 1-MCP concentrations usually resulted in delayed increases in ethylene production and lower ethylene production rates, as well as delayed softening. In contrast, HC-0.3 pear firmness did not differ from that of HC-0 fruit after cold storage. Generally, HC-0.3 pears displayed higher ethylene production and lower firmness values than FAC-0.3 pears after a 7-d exposure to 20 °C, regardless the length of cold storage. FAC-0.6 pears always showed lower ethylene production rates and higher flesh firmness values than HC-0.6 fruit. Soluble solids concentration was not consistently affected by 1-MCP. FAC-0.3 and HC-0.6 fruit showed higher titratable acidity values than HC-0 fruit after 0, 60, 120 and 150 d of cold storage plus 7 d at 20 °C. Effectiveness of 1-MCP treatments on HC pears was influenced by the bin material; P-0.5 pears were firmer than W-0.5 pears after 7 d at 20 °C, regardless the length of the cold storage. HC-0.5 fruit exposed to ?0.5 °C for 90 d reached eating quality (firmness ≤23 N) by day 7 if placed in W, and by day 21 when stored in P. Results and previous evidence suggest that wet wooden bin material may represent a major though unpredictable source of 1-MCP sorption that could bind a significant percentage of the 1-MCP applied. When used at relatively low doses 1-MCP partial removal by wet wooden bins can compromise the application effectiveness for controlling ethylene action.  相似文献

Ethylene is related to senescence but also induces protective mechanisms against stress in plants. The citrus industry only applies the hormone to induce fruit degreening. The aim of this work was to determine the effect of ethylene on the quality of colored citrus fruit stored under commercial conditions to extend postharvest life, since it protects them from stress causing postharvest disorders such as chilling injury (CI) and non-chilling peel pitting (NCPP). The effect of conditioning mature Navelate and Lane Late sweet oranges (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck) for 4 days with 2 μL L−1 ethylene at 12 °C, rather than at higher temperatures used for degreening, on the quality of fruit stored at 2 or 12 °C, was examined. The ethylene conditioning (EC) treatment did not increase color but reduced calyx abscission and NCPP in fruit of both cultivars stored at 12 °C, and also CI in Navelate fruit at 2 °C. Lane Late fruit did not develop CI but showed a new disorder in EC fruit held at 2 °C. This disorder began as scalded areas around the fruit stem end and extended over the fruit surface during storage. EC had no deleterious effect on the quality of Navelate oranges stored at either 2 or 12 °C. Similar results were found in Lane Late fruit although EC slightly increased off-flavor perception at 2 °C and the maturity index at 2 and 12 °C. Moreover, EC slightly increased the content of bioactive flavonoids in the pulp of Navelate fruit but significant differences between control and EC fruit were only found after prolonged storage at 2 °C. In Lane Late fruit, EC avoided the initial decrease in flavonoid content found in control samples. Results show, therefore, that EC at 12 °C may be a tool to extend postharvest life of NCPP and CI-sensitive oranges, and that the tolerance of citrus cultivars to the combined effect of EC and non-freezing low temperature (2 °C) should be tested to select the proper storage temperature.  相似文献

The effect of commercial degreening with ethylene gas on fruit susceptibility and quality and development of postharvest green (GM) and blue (BM) molds on early season citrus fruit was investigated. Each cultivar was harvested with different peel color indexes (CI). Fruit were exposed for 3 d to 2 μL L−1 ethylene at 21 °C and 95–100% RH before or after artificial inoculation with Penicillium digitatum or Penicillium italicum. Control fruit were kept at the same environmental conditions without ethylene. Fruit were stored at either 20 °C for 7 d or 5 °C for 14 d and disease incidence (%) and severity (lesion diameter) were assessed. No significant effect of commercial degreening was observed on fruit susceptibility to both GM and BM on citrus cultivars inoculated after degreening. Likewise, no significant effect was observed on disease incidence on citrus cultivars inoculated before degreening and stored at either 20 °C for 7 d or 5 °C for 14 d. In contrast, in cultivars like ‘Clemenules’ mandarins and ‘Navelina’ oranges, degreening significantly increased the severity on fruit with higher initial CI (−3.6 and 1.7, respectively). GM and BM severity on degreened and control ‘Clemenules’ mandarins incubated at 20 °C for 7 d was 146 and 118 mm and 56 and 46 mm, respectively. In general, commercial degreening did not significantly affect external and internal quality attributes of citrus cultivars. Commercial degreening after inoculation of less green (more mature) fruit showed a trend to increase mold severity, presumably through an aging effect (acceleration of peel senescence).  相似文献

The feasibility of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for imaging histological changes associated with the development of a progressive rind breakdown (RBD) disorder of ‘Nules Clementine’ mandarin (Citrus reticulate Blanco.) was investigated. The investigation utilised fruit with different levels of the disorder, carefully selected from a batch of fruit stored for eight weeks at 8 ± 0.5 °C. Images of healthy and RBD-affected intact mandarin fruit were acquired using a Thorlabs OCT system based on a broadband 930 nm source. OCT provided high resolution 2D images of fruit rind to a depth of about 1.1 mm. Immediate and non-destructive acquisition of images showing histological and microstructural features in intact rind tissues was demonstrated. The oil glands stayed intact in unaffected fruit and gradually collapsed in RBD affected fruit. At advanced stages of the disorder, the collapsed oil glands became increasingly deformed and flattened. The study showed that OCT is a promising technique for immediate, real-time and non-destructive acquisition of images showing histological and microstructural rind features of ‘Nules Clementine’ mandarin fruit.  相似文献

Different tillage systems (conventional, minimum, raised bed and no tillage) and four mulch levels (control, polythene, straw and soil) were compared in maize (Zea mays) and wheat (Triticum aestivum) production for three years on an experimental field (sandy loam) located at Dry Land Research Sub Station, Dhiansar, Jammu. Each treatment was replicated four times in split plot design. The aim of the research was to determine the influence of tillage and mulch practices on economics, energy requirement, soil physical properties and performance of maize and wheat. Tillage methods significantly affected the soil physical properties as change in soil moisture contents and infiltration rate of soil was recorded. The soil moisture contents in minimum tillage (MT) were maximum (12.4%, 16.6%) in surface soil as compared to conventional tillage (CT) in maize and wheat crops, respectively. Comparing to the CT infiltration rate was (1.16times, 1.21times and 1.11times) higher in minimum tillage (MT), no tillage (NT) and raised bed (RB), respectively in kharif season. Similar results were also found in rabi season. The greatest maize yield of 1865 kg ha?1 was achieved with CT system while not significantly lower yield was achieved with MT system (1837 kg ha?1). However, wheat yield was recorded higher in MT as compare to the CT system. Comparing to the energy requirement of different operations, MT required 34.3% less, NT 31.1% less and RB 46.0% less than the CT system. MT system saved 2.5 times energy in tillage operation compared to the CT system. The economic analysis also revealed that the maximum benefits could be obtained from MT (EUR 202.4 ha?1) followed by RB (EUR 164.2 ha?1) and NT (EUR 158.3 ha?1) and lowest in CT (EUR 149.5 ha?1). Benefit-cost ratio was highest in MT (0.71) and lowest in CT (0.44). Results revealed that mulch significantly affected the soil physical properties and growth of maize. The maximum soil moisture content, infiltration rate and grain yield of maize and wheat recorded higher in mulching practices over no mulch treatment. Polythene mulch and straw mulch were almost equally valuable in maize and wheat sequence. Tillage (minimum) and mulch (polythene and straw) have pronounced effect on soil physical properties (improved infiltration rate and conserve soil water), energy requirement, economics and growth of maize and wheat.  相似文献

Tomato fruit (Lycopersicon esculentum L. cv. Carousel) were exposed to ozone concentrations ranging between 0.005 (controls) and 1.0 μmol mol−1 at 13 °C and 95% RH. Quality-related attributes and organoleptic characteristics were examined during and following ozone treatment. Levels of soluble sugars (glucose, fructose) were maintained in ozone-treated fruit following transfer to ‘clean air’, and a transient increase in β-carotene, lutein and lycopene content was observed in ozone-treated fruit, though the effect was not sustained. Ozone-enrichment also maintained fruit firmness in comparison with fruit stored in ‘clean air’. Ozone-treatment did not affect fruit weight loss, antioxidant status, CO2/H2O exchange, ethylene production or organic acid, vitamin C (pulp and seed) and total phenolic content. Panel trials (employing choice tests, based on both appearance and sensory evaluation) revealed an overwhelming preference for fruit subject to low-level ozone-enrichment (0.15 μmol mol−1), with the effect persisting following packaging.  相似文献

Previous reports showed that both gaseous and aqueous 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) delay ripening of avocado (Persea americana Mill.), but there are no reports of the influence of 1-MCP on its sensory attributes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of ethylene pretreatment and/or exposure to gaseous or aqueous 1-MCP on fruit ripening and sensory attributes of ‘Booth 7’ avocado, a Guatemalan-West Indian hybrid. Separate experiments were conducted during two seasons (2008 and 2009) with fruit harvested at preclimacteric stage in October (early season) and in November (late season). Fruit from Season 1 were exposed to ethylene (4.07 μmol L−1) for 12 h at 20 °C, and stored for more 12 h at 20 °C in an ethylene-free (ethylene, <0.1 μL L−1) room prior to treatment with either aqueous (1.39 or 2.77 μmol L−1 a.i.) or gaseous (3.15 or 6.31 nmol L−1 a.i.) 1-MCP. Ripening was monitored and firmness, respiration, ethylene production and weight loss were measured. Texture profile analysis and sensory analysis were performed on ripe fruit only (firmness, 10–15 N). Fruit from Season 2 were not exposed to ethylene pretreatment but treated only with aqueous 1-MCP 24 h after harvest. Fruit were assessed exclusively for sensory analysis when ripe (firmness, 10–15 N). Treatment with either 1-MCP formulation effectively delayed ripening from 4 to 10 d for early-season fruit, and from 4 to 6 d for late-season fruit. Higher concentrations of 1-MCP of either formulation had the greatest effect on selected pulp textural parameters of early-season fruit; the gaseous formulation had greater effect on late-season fruit quality than the aqueous formulation. In general, sensory panelists ratings of overall liking were not affected by 1-MCP treatment. Both aqueous and gaseous 1-MCP formulations delayed ripening of the Guatemalan-West Indian ‘Booth 7’ avocado without significant loss in appearance or in sensory attributes and, therefore, could be considered for use as a postharvest treatment for this hybrid.  相似文献

Exposure of mature ‘Fallglo’ tangerine fruit to blue light with a photon fluence rate 40 μmol m−2 s−1 reduced symptom development of blue mold (Penicillium italicum), green mold (Penicillium digitatum), and stem end rot (Phomopsis citri) postharvest decays. Direct exposure to blue light was required to reduce decay caused by Penicillium. Blue light (40 μmol m−2 s−1) reduced in vitro fungal growth of P. italicum and P. citri. The growth of P. digitatum was more tolerant to blue light, however, the activity of fungal polygalacturonase was reduced by blue light at the intensity of 40 μmol m−2 s−1. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis identified 29 chemical constituents in flavedo oil; blue light induced only octanal accumulation. Application of octanal suppressed growth of P. italicum, P. digitatum, and P. citri in vitro. Treatment of fruit with octanal at 5 mM or 50 mM suppressed symptom development caused by Penicillium and P. citri, but discolored the peel. Inhibition of postharvest decays by blue light may be due to a combination of inhibition of fungal growth and induction of defensive responses in the host.  相似文献

Separate experiments were conducted with three major commercial avocado (Persea americana Mill.) cultivars grown in Florida: ‘Simmonds’ (early-season, West Indian race); ‘Booth 7’ (mid-season, Guatemalan-West Indian hybrid); and ‘Monroe’ (late-season, Guatemalan-West Indian hybrid). Fruit were harvested at preclimacteric stage and left untreated (Control) or treated 24 h after harvest with aqueous 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) at 1.39 (treatment M1) or 2.77 μmol L−1 a.i. (treatment M2) (75 or 150 μg L−1) for 1 min at 20 °C. Whole fruit ripening was monitored at 20 °C/92% ± 3% R.H. and based on whole fruit firmness, respiration and ethylene evolution. Fruit volatiles were assessed at preclimacteric (24 h after harvest), mid-ripe (half of initial fruit firmness) and ripe maturity stages, from 100 g of chopped pulp using a purge and trap system. Untreated, firmer fruit ‘Monroe’ (268 N at harvest) ripened within 12 d of harvest while softer fruit ‘Simmonds’ (118 N) ripened within only 6 d. 1-MCP treatment extended ripening time from 33% (M1) to 83% (M2). All fruit softened normally, indicating the potential benefits of aqueous 1-MCP as a postharvest treatment for avocado when applied at these concentrations. Volatile profiles differed among the three cultivars with several compounds detected in only one cultivar, results that may contribute to a potential identification of the origin of the cultivar based on fruit volatile composition. The West Indian cultivar ‘Simmonds’ had much higher emission of hexanal (preclimacteric fruit) and cis-3-hexenal and cis-3-hexen-1-ol (ripe fruit) than the Guatemalan-West Indian hybrids ‘Booth 7’ and ‘Monroe’. On the other hand, these latter hybrids had much higher levels of alkanes than ‘Simmonds’. Treatment with 1-MCP increased emissions of alkanes during ripening of ‘Booth 7’ and ‘Monroe’. Total volatiles of avocado decreased during ripening mainly due to the significant reduction of sesquiterpenes, the main group of volatiles in all cultivars at harvest (‘Simmonds’, 53%; ‘Booth 7’, 78%; ‘Monroe’, 66%). β-Caryophyllene was the major compound at harvest, but decreased to less than 2% in ripe fruit, at which point most sesquiterpenes were not detected. Among the 10 sesquiterpenes commonly found in the avocado cultivars in this study, only α-Copaene had significantly higher emissions in mid-ripe fruit treated with the higher concentration of 1-MCP (2.77 μmol L−1 a.i.), suggesting that ethylene participates in the regulation of this sesquiterpene.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine the dose tolerance of ‘Lane Late’ navel oranges (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck) to irradiation for phytosanitary purposes, identify the sensory attributes that may be affected by the treatment, and determine which changes, if any, influence consumer liking. ‘Lane Late’ navel oranges on Carrizo citrange (C. sinensis Poncirus trifoliate) rootstock were irradiated at target dose levels of 200, 400 and 600 Gy (actual absorbed doses were in the range of 100–300, 300–500, and 500–700 Gy, respectively) then stored for 1 d at 5 °C, 3 weeks at 5 °C (to simulate sea shipment to Asia) or 4 weeks (3 weeks at 5 °C and 1 week at 20 °C to simulate distribution to retail following sea shipment). Trained sensory panelists found increased pitting and visual damage in oranges treated at doses of 400 and 600 Gy. Consumer liking scores for appearance were significantly lower for oranges treated at 400 Gy, however, their overall liking scores for those same oranges were not significantly different than control. Color, total phenolic content, vitamin C and ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) values were not affected by irradiation. Dose effects were seen in terms of visual damage, increased weight loss and increased concentration of certain volatiles and as well as decreased SSC (soluble solids concentration) at doses 400 and 600 Gy. The primary effect of irradiation on fruit quality was external damage and pitting at doses of 400 and 600 Gy. Further research should consider pack configuration and/or combination treatments to possibly mitigate negative irradiation effects on appearance of the fruit.  相似文献

Fumigation by plant volatile compounds and hot water treatment were tested in vitro and in vivo for their activity against Neofabraea alba (anamorph Phlyctema vagabunda), the cause of lenticel rot in apple fruit. In vitro trials with volatile compounds showed a consistent inhibition of pathogen growth by carvacrol, trans-cinnamaldehyde, citral and trans-2-hexenal, while (?)-carvone, hexanal, p-anisaldehyde, 2-nonanone and eugenol showed progressively lower inhibition. The greatest inhibition of mycelial growth was demonstrated by carvacrol (effective doses for 50 and 95 inhibition [ED50 and ED95] = 5.9 and 17.0 μL L?1, respectively; minimum inhibitory concentration [MIC] = 36.9 μL L?1) and of conidial germination by trans-2-hexenal (ED50 and ED95 = 4.1 and 6.9 μL L?1, respectively; MIC = 9.2 μL L?1). Hot water showed a complete inhibition of conidial germination in vitro after 10, 2 and 1 min of exposure at 40, 45 and 50 °C, respectively, and a complete inhibition of mycelial growth after 20 min of exposure at 75 °C. Among the volatile compounds tested, only 25 μL L?1 of carvacrol slightly reduced fungal infection on artificially infected apples (11.4% efficacy). Hot water treatment at 45 °C for 10 min showed high efficacy in the control of lenticel rot on apples. Reduction of infection was 80% in artificially inoculated fruit (cv Golden Delicious) and 90% in naturally infected fruit (cv Pink Lady) after 90 and 135 d of storage, respectively.  相似文献

The antifungal activities of cinnamon extract (CE), piper extract (PE) and garlic extract (GE) were evaluated on banana crown rot fungi (Colletotrichum musae, Fusarium spp. and Lasiodiplodia theobromae) in vitro. The assay was conducted with extracts of CE, PE and GE with concentrations of 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 5.0, 10.0 and 0.75 g L−1 of carbendazim (CBZ) on potato dextrose agar at room temperature. CE completely inhibited conidial germination and mycelial growth of all fungi at 5.0 g L−1. PE totally suppressed mycelial growth of all fungi at 5.0 g L−1 and conidial germination at 10.0 g L−1 except for Fusarium spp. GE had no significant effects but low concentrations (0.1 and 0.5 g L−1) enhanced germ tube elongation of the three fungi. The ED50 values were higher for mycelial growth than for conidia except for Fusarium spp. Combined treatments were investigated on crown rot development in banana fruit (Musa AAA group ‘Kluai Hom thong’). Treatments included 5.0 g L−1 CE, 1% (w/v) chitosan solution, hot water treatment (HWT, 45 °C for 20 min), CE plus chitosan, CE plus HWT and 0.75 g L−1 of CBZ, applied before and after inoculation of the fruit. Crown rot development was assessed during storage at 13 °C for 7 weeks. Disease development was least (25%) on CE treated fruit after inoculation compared to CBZ but was higher when CE was applied before inoculation. Chitosan significantly delayed ripening as in terms of peel color, firmness, soluble solids and disease severity. CE showed no negative effects on quality of fruit. CE plus HWT caused unacceptable peel browning.  相似文献

Penicillium digitatum is the most devastating postharvest pathogen of citrus. In addition, Penicillium expansum is the main pathogen of pome fruit, although recent studies have demonstrated its ability to infect oranges under some conditions. In this study, we evaluated wound response in ‘Valencia’ oranges harvested at three different maturity stages and the effect of wound response on the establishment of both pathogens when fruit were stored at two different temperatures (20 and 4 °C). The effect of wounding and pathogen inoculation on lignin content, was also quantified. Lastly, the expression of several phenylpropanoid pathway-related genes was also analyzed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Results indicated that, in general, P. digitatum exhibited lower decay incidence and severity as time between wounding and inoculation increased. Decay incidence and severity were higher in fruit from the over-mature harvest than in fruit from immature and commercial harvests. P. expansum was able to infect fruit at 20 °C but lesions were small compared to lesion size of fruit stored at 4 °C. Lignin content in wounded fruit (control) and in samples wounded and inoculated with P. expansum was highest in fruit from the immature harvest at 7 d post-wounding and inoculation. Wounded fruit had higher expression of pal1, comt1 and pox1 genes at 48 h than at 24 h. However, samples inoculated with P. digitatum showed lower expression at 48 h than at 24 h. Our results indicated that maturity and storage temperature play an important role in orange wound response.  相似文献
