A 4-year-old Doberman Pinscher was evaluated for chronic progressive central vestibular disease and aggressiveness. A cyst-like lesion was identified in the region of the left cerebellopontine angle. The lesion was hypointense on T1-weighted and hyperintense on T2-weighted images. Differentials included an epidermoid or dermoid cyst, cystic neoplasm, and brain abscess. Hyperintensity on subsequent fluid-attenuated inversion recovery images excluded an arachnoid cyst. The histopathologic diagnosis was epidermoid cyst within the fourth ventricle.  相似文献

Chronic active hepatitis with cirrhosis and increased liver copper levels in 8 female (3 spayed) Doberman Pinschers is described. The response to immunosuppressive therapy in two dogs was poor. Laboratory results were not specific for the disease in the Doberman Pinscher and may occur in other liver diseases. The increased copper levels are most probably secondary to hepatocellular cholestasis. Although the pathogenesis is unknown, the disease in the Doberman Pinscher may be regarded as a separate entity.  相似文献

Day-old broiler chicks were fed a calcium-deficient diet for 30 days. Gross, microscopic, and radiographic examinations of the proximal tibiotarsus were done at 2, 3, and 4 weeks of age. In 2-week-old chicks, the growth-plate proliferating-prehypertrophied zone (P-PHZ) was variably lengthened and disorganized, cartilage columns of the degenerating hypertrophied zone and metaphyseal primary spongiosa were shortened, and bone spicules of the secondary spongiosa were bordered by increased osteoid. In 3-week-old chicks, lesions were either similar or more pronounced, with the additional finding of metaphyseal peritrabecular fibrosis. In 4-week-old chicks, the P-PHZ decreased in relative length, osteoid seams and fibrous connective tissue were less prominent, and tibial dyschondroplasia-like lesions were present. Results demonstrated that dietary calcium deficiency produced rachitic lesions, that the lesions were very different from those of phosphorus deficiency or calcium excess, and that the lesions were variable over time.  相似文献

A 9-month-old male entire Doberman Pinscher presented with acute onset of severe cervical hyperesthesia after a fall. Neurological examination revealed a normal gait with low head carriage and severe cervical hyperesthesia. A CT scan of the cervical vertebral column revealed the presence of a comminuted fracture at the dorsomedial aspect of the right occipital condyle and sclerosis of the underlying bone. Medical management was initiated consisting of an external bandage, strict rest, and pain medication. Due to the lack of clinical improvement, the dog was euthanized 2 months after diagnosis. Histopathology of the lesion was compatible with a healing fracture.  相似文献

A nine-year-old, male German shepherd dog was presented with a firm, discrete mass lingual to the interdental space of the mandibular left third and fourth premolars. The lesion was excised and diagnosed as fibrous dysplasia of bone based on histopathologic examination. Fibrous dysplasia of bone is a rare, non-aggressive, radiolucent, non-neoplastic lesion considered developmental in origin. Usually observed as a solitary lesion, it has been reported in animals and man in the polyostotic form. The disease process causes deformity of bone which may lead to loss of bone strength. Clinical signs are secondary to site specific problems associated with expansile bone lesions. Oral examination performed 18-months postoperatively indicated no signs of recurrence.  相似文献

A diagnosis of vertebral multiple myeloma, based on radiographic evidence of osteolytic lesions and the finding of monoclonal paraprotein and large numbers of plasma cells in bone marrow biopsies, was made in a mature Doberman Pinscher. The abnormal serum paraprotein was a cryoglobulin of the immunoglobulin A class. Neurologic signs associated with the tumor included pain, progressive pelvic limb paresis, and paraplegia that developed during a 6-week period.  相似文献

A recently described metaphyseal irregularity of the radius and ulna was diagnosed radiographically in a significant proportion of Newfoundland dogs during the course of a large study. This case report describes the pathological picture of a Newfoundland dog with these radiographic changes. The lesions in the distal radius and ulna were characterized by focal, longitudinal striations of sclerosis of the bone marrow cavity, surrounding thin trabeculae of primary spongiosa of the distal metaphysis. It is suggested that these lesions represent a sclerosing dysplasia not previously described in dogs, but with some similarities to the human disorder, osteopathia striata.  相似文献

On the basis of microscopic evaluation of bone marrow aspirate, multiple myeloma and secondary marrow hypoplasia was diagnosed in a 7-year-old female Doberman Pinscher. Electrophoresis, radial gel diffusion, and immunoaffinity chromatography indicated that serum and urine specimens contained alpha immunoglobulins without kappa or lambda light chains. Whole immunoglobulins (Ig) A, IgG, or IgM were not found. The dog was treated with prednisolone and melphalan for 11 weeks, after which time the owner refused examination and treatment of the dog.  相似文献

A subtrochanteric femoral fracture in a 5-month-old Doberman Pinscher was repaired by use of a 5-hole, 3.5-mm, double-hook plate. The double-hook plate afforded rigid 3-point fixation of the short proximal metaphyseal segment without impingement of the proximal femoral physis and allowed compression of the fracture fragments by placement of an interfragmentary screw through its pendulum hole. The fracture healed without complications, and the dog had a rapid return to function. Although designed for use in performing femoral osteotomies in dogs afflicted with hip dysplasia, the double-hook plate can be used to repair fractures with short proximal or distal segments.  相似文献

The clinical and radiographic signs of panosteitis in seven dogs are described and also the histological and fluorochrome-labelled appearance of the lesions in one of them. The condition was seen in three immature German Shepherd dogs, three immature mongrels, of which two were littermates, and an adult Doberman Pinscher which presented with lesions of its metacarpus.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The Doberman Pinscher is one of the most common breeds of dogs to develop dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a primary heart muscle disorder characterized by myocardial dysfunction, cardiac arrhythmias, and congestive heart failure. In the Doberman Pinscher, the disease is typically adult onset, and a familial etiology has been suggested. HYPOTHESIS: DCM in the Doberman Pinscher, is a familial disease linked to a specific genetic marker. ANIMALS: The study comprised an extended family of Doberman Pinschers with a history of DCM. METHODS: Participating dogs were prospectively evaluated over an 8-year period. Phenotype of participating dogs was determined by annual echocardiography and ambulatory electrocardiography, and the pedigree was evaluated to determine a specific mode of inheritance. Three hundred seventy-two microsatellite markers were selected and genotyped to cover the 38 autosomal chromosomes. Phenotyping, genotyping, and pedigree information was entered into a database, and parametric, 2-point analysis was performed. Markers were considered to be linked to the development of DCM if the logarithm of odds LOD score was >/= 3.0. RESULTS: An autosomal dominant mode of inheritance was defined by the appearance of the disease in multiple generations, equal gender representation (P = .973) and male-to-male transmission. A maximum LOD score of 1.31 was obtained for I marker on chromosome 20, a score not high enough to be associated with DCM. CONCLUSION: DCM in the Doberman Pinscher is a familial disease inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. The causative gene(s) responsible for this condition remain unresolved. Association studies by means of array technology may provide new insights into gene identification.  相似文献

Extraction of an embedded supranumerary incisor tooth and surgical exposure of the crown of an impacted left mandibular canine tooth were performed in a 5 month-old Doberman Pinscher dog. Six months following surgery, the canine tooth was fully erupted and in normal occlusion. A review of tooth eruption in the dog is provided.  相似文献

Osteopetrosis is a rare disorder characterised by a defect in osteoclastic bone resorption. This report describes osteopetrosis in a neonatal donkey that suffered a displaced tibial fracture. Radiographic examination identified generalised reduction in medullary cavity size, thickened mid‐diaphyseal cortices and conical metaphyseal bone extending toward the mid‐diaphysis of long bones. Postmortem examination identified additional fractures and brittle bones. Histologically, osteoclasts were absent in multiple bone sections. Diaphyseal cortices consisted of concentric bone lamellae with marrow tissue infiltration. Large wedges of secondary spongiosa extended from the metaphyseal growth plate. Clinical and histopathological features were similar to an osteoclast‐deficient, autosomal recessive form of osteopetrosis in humans.  相似文献

A 4-year-old Basset Hound and a 6-year-old Doberman Pinscher were referred for diagnostic evaluation following documentation of persistently increased hepatic enzyme activities and hepatic dysfunction. Histologic evaluation of hepatic biopsy specimens from the 2 dogs revealed granulomatous hepatitis in the Basset Hound and lymphocytic hepatitis with fibrosis and copper accumulation in the Doberman Pinscher. No etiologic agents were identified histologically. Bartonella henselae DNA was subsequently amplified from hepatic tissue from the Basset Hound and Bartonella clarridgeiae was amplified from hepatic tissue from the Doberman Pinscher. Amplification was performed with a polymerase chain reaction assay incorporating primers that target a portion of the 16S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer region. Both dogs were treated with azithromycin, in combination with a variety of other medications and herbal treatments, and improved clinically. Identification of Bartonella DNA in these dogs indicates the need for future prospective studies to determine the clinical relevance of Bartonella spp infection in dogs with hepatic disease.  相似文献

A 5-year-old female neutered Boxer dog was diagnosed with extensive odontogenic cysts that affected the left and right mandibles. Rostral mandibular swelling was detectable clinically, and bilateral cystic mandibular lesions were identified radiographically. The dog's owners elected for euthanasia. A full postmortem was performed. Cystic cavities were confirmed in the body of each mandible, extending from the incisor teeth to the mid premolar region. Incisor, canine, and premolar tooth roots indented each cavity. Histologic examination of the cystic cavities reflected an inner lining of attenuated stratified squamous epithelium overlying a fibrous layer infiltrated by a mixed, predominantly mononuclear, inflammatory infiltrate.  相似文献

Myositis caused by Clostridium septicum was diagnosed in a 3-year-old Doberman Pinscher. The illness was characterized by signs of pain, swelling, and lameness of left forelimb. Despite treatment, the dog died. Necropsy revealed crepitant swelling over the entire left forelimb, thoracic and abdominal wall, and lumbosacral area. Subcutaneous edema and black, emphysematous muscles also were found. Histologically, hemorrhages, congested vessels, and degeneration and necrosis of myofibers with scattered infiltration of neutrophils were seen in the affected muscles.  相似文献

4日龄 Aiboi Acies肉鸡健雏80只随机分为4组,分别喂给钙-磷缺乏(Ca 0.02%,P0.30%)、缺钙(Ca 0.02%,PO.71%)、缺磷(Ca 0.95%,PO.30%)和正常对照(Ca 0.95%PO.71%)日粮三周,进行了系统的病理形态学观察。缺磷组病变表现为肋骨头肿大,长骨骨骺生长板之肥大带明显增宽,骨小梁减少;缺钙组和钙-磷缺乏组病变表现为肋骨增粗弯曲,长骨骨骺生长板之增生带显著增宽,海绵骨类骨组织和结缔组织大量增生,成骨细胞和破骨细胞丰富。结果表明,钙缺乏和磷缺乏所致病变显著不同,为鉴别诊断提供了科学依据。  相似文献

A 6-year-old male Doberman Pinscher developed multiple organ infarctions secondary to vegetative endocarditis. Clinical signs included fever, nystagmus, head-tilt, inappetence, dehydration, hematuria, and dysuria. The dog was azotemic and anemic and had a high WBC count and high liver enzyme activities. Disseminated intravascular coagulation was diagnosed on the basis of thrombocytopenia and prolonged activated clotting times. Vegetative mitral valvular lesions were evident on M-mode echocardiography. The dog underwent diuresis with physiologic saline solution and was treated parenterally with antibacterial and anticoagulant agents. Surgery was performed to remove an infarcted kidney and an infarcted spleen and to relieve urethral obstruction caused by a large blood clot. Gram-positive cocci were noticed in the biopsy specimens. Mortality associated with organ infarctions secondary to bacterial endocarditis is high, and combined medical and surgical therapy is rarely reported. This dog survived and was alive 38 months after surgery.  相似文献
