The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress response to long-term transportation and to analyze the effects of vitamin A + D + E and vitamin E + selenium administrations on oxidative stress induced by long-term transportation in Holstein dairy cows. Control group (n = 10) received 0.9% saline (placebo), Group I (n = 10) received vitamin A + D + E, and Group II (n = 10) received vitamin E + selenium. After the transport, adrenaline levels were high in all groups (P < 0.05). Noradrenaline level was low in Group I (P < 0.05) and tended to be low in Group II. Mean levels of serum cortisol decreased significantly in all groups (P < 0.05) when comparing pre-transport data with post-transport data. Glucose levels increased in Control group (P < 0.05) and in Groups I and II (P < 0.01). The malondialdehyde level significantly increased in the Control group (P < 0.05) after the transport and the levels were lower in Group I (P = 0.076) and Group II (P < 0.05) than in the Control group. As a result, vitamin E + selenium and vitamin A + D + E have been determined to prevent lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress, associated with long-term transportation stress in cattle.  相似文献

Two experiments involving 496 cross-bred pigs evaluated the efficacy of various dietary levels of vitamin E, with or without supplemental fat, on postweaning pig performance and weekly serum and terminal tissue alpha-tocopherol concentrations. The first trial involved 248 pigs weaned at an average of 15 d of age and 4.8 kg BW. The experiment was a randomized complete block design conducted in seven replicates. Vitamin E was added as dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate at 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 150, or 200 IU/kg diet. Pigs were bled initially and at 7-d intervals for a 42-d period. Liver and s.c. adipose tissue samples were collected from six pigs per treatment group at 42 d. In Exp. 2, a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement of treatments in a randomized complete block design was conducted in seven replicates. The experiment used a total of 248 pigs weaned at 19 d of age and averaged 6.4 kg BW. Four vitamin E levels (0, 20, 40, and 60 IU/kg diet) and two added fat levels of 0 or 5% were fed for 35 d. Four pigs per treatment pen were bled weekly, and at 35 d a total of four pigs per treatment group were killed and liver, heart, and s.c. adipose tissues were collected and analyzed for alpha-tocopherol. The basal diet in both experiments contained an average 7.9 IU for period 1, and later diets averaged 11.0 IU vitamin E/kg. In both experiments serum alpha-tocopherol concentrations declined from weaning to 7 d after weaning and continued to decline each week after weaning when the basal diets were fed. Serum alpha-tocopherol concentrations increased (P < 0.01) each week as the dietary vitamin E level increased in both experiments. In Exp. 2, when fat was added to the diet serum alpha-tocopherol concentrations were higher (P < 0.01) than in diets without added fat. Liver, heart muscle, and adipose tissue alpha-tocopherol concentrations increased (P < 0.01) as vitamin E level increased, but at the higher dietary vitamin E level the liver surpassed the adipose tissue in its alpha-tocopherol concentration. Liver and adipose alpha-tocopherol concentrations were higher (P < 0.01) when fat was added to the diet. These results indicate that supplementation of 40 to 60 IU/kg diet with added fat resulted in a relatively constant balance of serum and tissue concentration of alpha-tocopherol during the nursery period, but when fat was not supplemented a dietary vitamin E level of 80 to 100 IU/kg diet may be needed. The current NRC recommendations for vitamin E for the pig from 5 to 20 kg BW may need to be reevaluated.  相似文献

目的:探讨自拟滋阴益气活血组方对链脲佐菌素(STZ)糖尿病大鼠免疫器官影响。方法:用STZ尾静脉注射45mg/kg诱导建立糖尿病大鼠模型,将符合糖尿病诊断标准的大鼠随机分为模型对照组(n=15)和组方治疗组(n=15),同时设正常对照组(n=20)。组方治疗组灌胃滋阴益气活血组方水煎液10mL/kg.d,模型对照组和正常对照组灌胃相同剂量的生理盐水,连续灌胃56d。灌胃第14、28、42、56天眶后静脉丛采血,制备血清以测定血糖(GLU)水平。第56天剖杀大鼠,取脾脏、胸腺组织,制作切片,观察组织结构。结果:第56天时,组方治疗组的血糖水平极显著低于模型对照组(P0.01),基本接近正常水平;与模型对照组相比,组方治疗组可显著提高脾脏指数和胸腺指数;模型对照组脾小结数量较少,生发中心不够明显;组方治疗组脾小结数量体积较正常,可以见到生发中心;模型对照组胸腺组织结构变化明显,胸腺小体数量较少;治疗组胸腺小叶较大,胸腺小体较多。结论:自拟滋阴益气活血组方能够降低糖尿病大鼠的血糖,对STZ糖尿病大鼠的脾脏、胸腺及其组织结构损伤有一定的治疗作用。  相似文献

We investigated whether vitamin E supplementation and supplemental energy sources (fat or starch) influenced plasma and milk levels of vitamin E, and reproductive and other parameters in 28 Italian Friesian multiparous dry cows. From 14 days before expected calving to 7 days after, the animals were assigned to either basal diet (containing 1000 IU/day of vitamin E) or an extra 1000 IU/day of vitamin E (total 2000 IU). In addition they received either 0.5 kg/day of corn or 0.2 kg/day of calcium soaps. Plasma samples were collected 4 days before expected calving and 4 days after calving and analysed for alpha-tocopherol and cholesterol. Milk yield as well as the composition, somatic cell count (SCC) and alpha-tocopherol of milk were determined 7 and 14 days after calving. Milk yield and composition were unaffected by treatments. SCC was significantly lower in (SCC Log 4.62 versus Log 5.1, P < 0.01) 2000 IU/day animals than in the 1000 IU/day group. Milk alpha-tocopherol was higher (P < 0.001) in animals receiving 2000 IU/day (1.11 vs. 0.65 microgram/ml, P < 0.01). Plasma alpha-tocopherol in animals receiving 2000 IU/day was also higher (P < 0.001) than in cows receiving 1000 IU/day (4.85 vs. 3.25 micrograms/ml), but was not affected by dietary energy source. Number of services and days to conception were lower (P < 0.01) in the 2000 IU vitamin E supplemented cows. To conclude, dietary vitamin E supplementation to periparturient dairy cows increased plasma and milk vitamin E, decreased SCC in milk, and improved fertility but different energy sources had no effect on any measured variable.  相似文献

Two experiments evaluated the relationship of vitamin E (source and level) and vitamin A (level) on the apparent absorption and retention of both vitamins in weaned pigs. Both experiments used a combined total of 460 crossbred pigs ([Yorkshire x Landrace] x Duroc), housed in elevated 1.2- x 1.2-m crates containing five pigs per pen. Experiment 1 was a 2 x 2 x 2 factorial arrangement of treatments in a randomized complete block design conducted in seven replicates. Levels of vitamin A (2,200 or 13,200 IU/kg), vitamin E (15 or 90 IU/kg), and two vitamin E sources (D-alpha-tocopheryl acetate [D-TAc] or DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate [DL-TAc]) were evaluated over a 35-d period. Vitamin A or E levels and the two vitamin E sources did not affect pig performances to 20 kg BW. Serum retinol and alpha-tocopherol concentrations increased (P < 0.01) as the dietary level of each vitamin increased. Serum alpha-tocopherol declined as dietary vitamin E level increased when vitamin A level increased resulting in an interaction (P < 0.05). Serum alpha-tocopherol concentrations were higher (P < 0.05) at 35-d postweaning when D-TAc was the vitamin E source. Experiment 2 was a 3 x 2 factorial arrangement of treatments conducted in six replicates. Three levels of vitamin A (2,200, 13,200, or 26,400 IU/ kg) and two sources of vitamin E (D-TAc or DL-TAc) each provided at 40 IU/kg diet were evaluated over a 35-d period. Pig performances to 35-d postweaning were not affected by the dietary variables. Serum alpha-tocopherol (P < 0.01) and retinol (P < 0.05) concentrations increased as their respective vitamin level increased. Serum (P < 0.05) and liver (P < 0.01) alpha-tocopherol concentrations both declined as dietary vitamin A levels increased resulting in interaction responses. Serum alpha-tocopherol concentration was higher (P < 0.05) at 35-d postweaning when d-TAc was the vitamin E source. Dietary vitamin E sources had no effect on serum or liver retinol concentrations. These results demonstrated that both supplemental vitamin A and vitamin E increased in the blood as their dietary levels increased. However, as dietary vitamin A level increased, serum and liver alpha-tocopherol concentrations declined, suggesting a reduced absorption and retention of alpha-tocopherol when weaned pigs were fed high dietary vitamin A levels.  相似文献

Plasma levels of vitamins A, E, beta carotene, both plasma and erythrocyte glutathione peroxidase (GSHPx), lipid peroxidation (LPO) and reduced glutathione (GSH) were investigated in cattle naturally infected with Theileria annulata and treated with buparvaquone. There were two groups each containing 30 cattle. Naturally infected cattle were used in the second group. Buparvaquone (2.5 mg/kg body weight) was administered to animals in the second group. Blood samples were taken from control animals, and immediately before treatment, and from animals 10 days after the injection of buparvaquone. Detection of the infected animals was carried out by blood smears. Plasma vitamins A, E, beta carotene, both plasma and erythrocyte GSHPx, LPO and GSH levels were determined. The levels of LPO in plasma and erythrocyte samples were significantly (P < 0.05, P < 0.01) higher after treatment than in either control animals or before treatment. Plasma levels of antioxidant vitamins, vitamin E and beta carotene were significantly (P < 0.05, P < 0.01) lower after treatment than in either control animals or before treatment, while the vitamin E level was found to be higher before treatment than in either the control group or animals after treatment (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The levels of vitamin A in plasma and the activity of GSHPx and GSH in both plasma and erythrocytes in control animals after and before treatment did not differ significantly. In conclusion, we observed that there was a decreased plasma level of vitamin E and beta carotene and an increased level of LPO in cattle treated with buparvaquone. Buparvaquone might function in the treatment of Theileria annulata by forming free radicals.  相似文献

Superovulated Hereford-Angus crossbred heifers (average 397 kg BW) were used to test the effect of feeding cottonseed meal (gossypol) and vitamin E on embryo quality and ovarian characteristics. Twenty-four heifers were assigned randomly to four treatments with six heifers per treatment. Treatments were the following dietary supplements: 1) SBM (soybean meal + 30 IU vitamin E/kg of diet DM); 2) SBM+E (soybean meal + 4,000 IU vitamin E x animal(-1) x d(-1)); 3) CSM (cottonseed meal + 30 IU vitamin E/kg of diet DM); and 4) CSM+E (cottonseed meal + 4,000 IU vitamin E x animal(-1) x d(-1)). Supplements based on cottonseed meal provided 43.5 g of total gossypol/d (37% negative isomer (-) and 63% positive isomer (+)). Blood samples were collected at the start of the experiment and every 3 wk thereafter up to 12 wk. Plasma a-tocopherol (alpha-T) concentration was affected by treatments (P < 0.05). Heifers supplemented with cottonseed meal had greater (P < 0.05) alpha-T concentration in plasma than heifers supplemented with soybean meal at each concentration of vitamin E. Supplementation at 4,000 IU vitamin E x animal(-1) d(-1) increased (P < 0.05) the concentration of a-T in plasma. Weight gain, hemoglobin and hematocrit were not affected by treatment. Erythrocyte osmotic fragility (EOF) increased (P < 0.05) in cottonseed meal-fed animals; however, EOF was lowered (P < 0.05) with vitamin E supplementation. Heifers fed CSM and CSM+E supplements had greater (P < 0.01) concentrations of (-)-, (+)-, and total-gossypol in plasma, corpora lutea (CL), liver, and endometrium than heifers fed SBM and SBM+E supplements. Tissue alpha-T concentration increased with increased dietary supplemental vitamin E, particularly in great amounts in the CL. Because there was no adverse effect of gossypol on superovulation response or embryo development despite concentrations of gossypol in endometrium that are toxic to embryos, it is likely that systems exist in the reproductive tract to limit gossypol toxicity.  相似文献

Kilham's rat virus (KRV) is a parvovirus commonly known to affect laboratory rats. Qualitative immunohistochemical analysis revealed that aorta isolated from KRV-infected streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic adult rats expressed markedly greater levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) than aorta from KRV-infected controls. In contrast with the prevailing literature, nitric oxide-mediated endothelium-dependent relaxation to acetylcholine was not blunted by STZ-diabetes, but was comparable to relaxations of aorta from controls. However, with increasing ex vivo duration, a decreased response to acetylcholine was observed in the STZ-diabetic aorta. In addition, whereas contraction responses to phenylephrine were not significantly altered over time in control tissue, aorta from STZ-diabetic rats developed increased tensions. The data suggest that increased iNOS-derived nitric oxide masks expected acetylcholine-mediated relaxation deficits as a result of KRV-infection, and that the deficit is unmasked by iNOS turnover ex vivo.  相似文献

An oral vitamin E absorption test used in human beings was modified for use in horses. The most appropriate techniques with which to measure gastrointestinal tract absorption of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) in horses were developed. Vitamin E was administered orally, and serum values of alpha-tocopherol were measured by use of high-performance liquid chromatography at 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 hours after vitamin E administration. Variables included comparison of 2 dosages (45 and 90 IU/kg of body weight), routes of administration, and absorption dynamics of 3 preparations of dl-alpha-tocopherol. Absorption of the 2 doses of dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate indicated a dose response; the area under the curve at 24 hours (AUC24) was 4.3 micrograms.h/ml for the 45-IU/kg dose and 32.2 micrograms.h/ml (P less than 0.01) for the 90-IU/kg dose. Maximal absorption was apparent when vitamin E was naturally consumed in grain, compared with administration of identical preparations by stomach tube or paste. In the same horses, dl-alpha-tocopherol and dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate plus polyethylene glycol had statistically similar absorption curves and both had significantly greater AUC24, compared with dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate; values for the 3 compounds were 23.6, 25.8, and 12.6 micrograms.h/ml, respectively. 试验研究饲粮添加不同水平维生素A(VA) (0、1300、2600、5000、10000、15000IU/kg)对22 -50kg生长猪生产性能、胴体品质、胴体无脂瘦肉增重、肝脏和血浆中VA含量、血清免疫参数的影响。结果表明 ,添加VA1300 -10000IU/kg 提高了日增重 (P>0.05)、极显著地降低料重比 (P<0.01) ;但VA添加水平从1300IU/kg增加至10000IU/kg,料重比显著提高 (P<0.05) ,采食量也极显著提高 (P<0.01)。各组屠宰率、瘦肉率、脂肪率、背膘厚、胴体瘦肉成分都无显著差异 (P>0.05) ,眼肌面积则随VA水平的升高而趋于增大(P>0.05)。胴体瘦肉和无脂瘦肉日增重在添加VA1300IU/kg 和10000IU/kg两组间很接近 ,而且优于其它组 (P<0.05)。随着VA水平的提高 ,肝脏中VA含量极显著提高 (P<0.01) ,至添加VA10000IU/kg组最高 ,之后略下降 ;添加VA有使血浆中VA含量升高的趋势 (P>0.05)。各组血清中IgG、IgA、IgM含量都无显著差异 (P>0.05) ,添加VA使T淋巴细胞中CD3+ 和CD8+ 亚群比例趋于升高 (P>0.05),随着添加VA水平提高 ,血清T淋巴细胞中CD4+/CD8+比值趋于下降 ,至添加VA10000IU/kg 组最低 ,在VA15000IU/kg 组又明显上升 (P>0.05)。以肝脏中VA含量为指标 ,生长猪VA适宜水平为在基础饲料上添加10000IU/kg ,但根据生产性能等其它指标 ,添加1300IU  相似文献

This study was conducted to determine the effects of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) and vitamin E (DL-alpha-Tocopheryl acetate) on performance, digestion of nutrients and carcass characteristics of Japanese quails reared under chronic heat stress (34 degrees C). A total of 180 10-day-old Japanese quails were randomly assigned to six treatment groups, three replicates of 10 birds each. The birds with a 2 x 3 factorial design received either two levels of vitamin C (100 and 200 mg/kg of diet) or three levels of vitamin E (125, 250, or 500 mg/kg of diet). Then, 200-mg vitamin C/kg of diet, compared with that of 100 mg/kg of diet, and higher dietary vitamin E inclusions resulted in a higher performance. The interaction between vitamin C and vitamin E for final body weight change (p=0.01) and feed efficiency (p=0.02) was detected. Final body weight change and feed efficiency increased to a higher extent by increasing dietary vitamin C when higher vitamin E levels were fed. Carcass characteristics improved with an increase of both dietary vitamin C and vitamin E (p=0.004). The interactions on carcass characteristics were all significant (p=0.02) and manifested themselves in a way that they were improved to a higher extent by an increase of dietary vitamin C when higher vitamin E levels were fed. Digestibility of nutrients (DM, OM, CP and EE) was greater with higher dietary vitamin C (p < 0.02) and also with higher vitamin E (p=0.07). There were no interactions detected for digestibility of nutrients (p=0.32). Taken together, the results of the present study conclude that a combination of 200 mg of vitamin C and 250 mg of vitamin E provides the greatest performance in Japanese quails reared under heat stress and can be considered as a protective management practice in poultry diet, alleviating the negative effects of heat stress.  相似文献

通过注射链脲佐菌素(STZ)制作大鼠1型糖尿病模型,观察大鼠品系、给药剂量、给药次数对大鼠成模率、死亡率的影响,同时研究利用口服葡萄糖耐量试验(OGTT)判断大鼠糖尿病成模率的意义。随机取16只SD大鼠设置正常对照组。试验一:Wistar大鼠随机分为中剂量组(55 mg/kg,n=12)和高剂量组(65 mg/kg,n=12);试验二:SD大鼠一次性腹腔注射STZ(55 mg/kg,n=12),与1中的Wistar大鼠作对比;试验三:SD大鼠随机分为一次给药组(n=16)和两次给药组(n=16),注射剂量均为55 mg/kg,观察期间进行OGTT。结果表明,Wistar大鼠成模率和死亡率均高于SD大鼠;采用SD大鼠、中剂量给药和两次给药的方式可提高成模率,并降低死亡率;在有明确胰岛病理改变的模型组大鼠,其OGTT异常阳性率显著高于空腹血糖异常阳性率。用STZ诱导糖尿病模型是一种稳定可靠的方法。  相似文献

Crossbred barrows (n = 72) were used to evaluate effects of diet supplementation with modified tall oil (MTO; 0.0 or 0.50%) and vitamin E (0, 22, or 110 IU/kg) on growth performance, carcass traits, and longissimus muscle (LM) quality traits of finishing pigs. Pigs were blocked by ancestry and initial BW and allotted randomly to treatments in a 2 x 3 factorial. Corn-soybean meal-based diets were fed in two phases: 45.5 to 81.6 (1.00% lysine) and 81.6 to 114.6 (0.75% lysine) kg BW with no added fat. From 45.5 to 81.6 kg, pigs fed MTO had greater ADG (P = 0.03) regardless of added vitamin E; otherwise, treatment did not affect growth performance. Carcasses from pigs fed MTO had reduced (P < 0.05) average backfat (2.76 vs 2.92 cm) and firmer bellies compared to those fed no MTO. Boneless loins were cut into 2.54-cm chops at 7 d postmortem and evaluated for display color, thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance (TBARS), Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF), and sensory panel ratings. Visual color was similar (P > 0.05) among treatments at 0 and 1 d of display. At 4 and 6 d of display chops from pigs fed MTO with 110 IU vitamin E/kg had less deterioration (P < 0.05) than chops from pigs fed MTO with 0 IU vitamin E/kg and 0.0% MTO with 22 or 110 IU vitamin E/kg. The CIE L*, a*, b* and spectral values also suggested a delay in color deterioration for chops from pigs fed MTO with 110 IU vitamin E/kg. At 6 and 8 d of display, chops from pigs fed 110 IU vitamin E/kg had lower (P < 0.05) L* values than those from pigs fed 0 or 22 IU vitamin E/kg, and higher (P < 0.05) a* values than those from pigs fed 0 IU vitamin E/kg feed. A higher (P < 0.05) %R630/%R580 (indicator of more oxymyoglobin) was observed for chops from pigs fed MTO with 110 IU vitamin E/kg than those from pigs fed 0.0% MTO with 22 or 110 IU vitamin E/kg and MTO with 0 IU vitamin E/kg. Chops from pigs fed MTO with 110 IU vitamin E/kg had lower (P < 0.05) TBARS values than those from pigs fed MTO with 0 IU vitamin E/kg. No differences (P > 0.05) were detected among treatments for WBSF or sensory evaluations. The addition of MTO in swine diets improved belly firmness and reduced backfat, and feeding MTO with high levels of vitamin E extended display life without affecting palatability of LM chops.  相似文献

Effect of T-2 toxin on egg production and hatchability in laying hens.   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The effect of diets containing different levels of T-2 toxin on egg production and hatchability was studied in a four-week experiment using 100 laying hens of the SSL hybrid line and 10 cocks divided into 10 groups. Another aim of the experiment was to investigate how effectively the increased dietary vitamin E content neutralized the adverse effects of T-2 toxin. The diet of the control group (C) contained no mycotoxin, while those of the experimental groups included the following levels of T-2 toxin: groups 1, 2 and 3: 1 mg/kg, groups 4, 5 and 6: 5 mg/kg; groups 7, 8 and 9: 10 mg/kg. Vitamin E was added to the diet of groups C, 1, 4 and 7 at a rate of 50 mg/kg while to that of groups 2, 5 and 8 at a rate of 100 mg/kg. To the diet of groups 3, 6 and 9 no vitamin E was added. Contamination of the diet with T-2 toxin markedly decreased egg production and impaired hatchability. The production decrease was proportional to the T-2 toxin concentration of the diet. Increased dietary vitamin E concentration exerted no influence on egg production. However, during the first week of the experiment it significantly (P < 0.01) decreased the number of infertile eggs and significantly (P < 0.01) improved the hatching percentage. Dietary vitamin E concentration was in positive correlation with the hatching percentage; this correlation was rather close (r = 0.74) in the first week of the experiment.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究不同剂量链脲佐菌素(streptozocin,STZ)及不同性别在建立大鼠糖性白内障模型方面的差异。将65、70和75 mg/kg 3个浓度STZ通过一次性腹腔注射建立雌、雄性大鼠糖性白内障模型,36 h后尾静脉采血测血糖,3周后进行裂隙灯检查,每天测量动物饮食量及排粪尿量变化,每周测定体重。试验结果显示,70 mg/kg STZ比65 mg/kg STZ糖性白内障发生时间缩短约1周,且比75 mg/kg STZ死亡率低。同浓度STZ腹腔注射后雌性大鼠糖尿病发生时间为72 h,雄性大鼠为36 h,白内障发生时间雌性比雄性大鼠慢约1周。试验结果表明,腹腔注射70 mg/kg STZ在糖性白内障模型建立所需时间及模型稳定性等方面具有优势,雄性大鼠较雌性更易于建立糖性白内障模型。  相似文献

1. The effect of high concentrations of vitamin E (alpha-tocopheryl acetate) fed during various age periods on the performance and the oxidative stability (thiobarbituric acid [TBA] values) of the drumstick meat of 7-week-old broiler chicks was determined. The basal diets (for the age periods 0 to 3, 3 to 6 and 6 to 7 weeks) contained 60 g soyabean oil and 24 mg vitamin E/kg. The following five treatments were evaluated: (1) the basal diets from 0 to 7 weeks of age (control); (2) vitamin E, 100 mg/kg diet from 0 to 7 weeks of age; (3) vitamin E, 150 mg/kg diet from 0 to 3 weeks of age; (4) vitamin E, 150 mg/kg diet from 0 to 3 weeks of age and 100 mg/kg diet from 6 to 7 weeks of age; (5) vitamin E, 100 mg/kg diet from 5 to 7 weeks of age. 2. Food intake, weight gain and food efficiency were not significantly (P greater than 0.05) affected by the vitamin E treatments. 3. Plasma alpha-tocopherol (AT) concentrations in treatments 2, 4 and 5 were similar, and markedly higher than those in treatments 1 and 3, while those of treatment 3 were significantly (P less than 0.001) higher than those of treatment 1. Plasma retinol concentrations were not significantly (P greater than 0.05) affected by the vitamin E treatments. 4. TBA values of the meat were very low and not significantly affected by the vitamin E treatments. However, after incubation the TBA values were highly significantly (P less than 0.01) negatively correlated with the amount of vitamin E consumed during the experiment. The stability of meat of birds fed the various combinations of vitamin E (treatments 3, 4 and 5) was significantly (P less than 0.05) higher than that of birds which did not receive additional vitamin E (treatment 1), but it was significantly (P less than 0.001) lower than that of birds which received vitamin E continuously (treatment 2). 5. It is concluded that a high concentration of vitamin E fed during 0 to 3 weeks of age may significantly improve AT status of the broiler chick up to 7 weeks of age.  相似文献

目的:探讨牛初乳粉对大鼠糖尿病的预防作用。 方法:给大鼠灌胃3个不同剂量的牛初乳粉(BCP)溶液15d后腹腔注射链脲霉素(STZ)55mg/kg。注射后第7、14天测定各项指标(平均饮水量在注射后第6、13天测量)。血糖用Roche公司血糖仪测定,血脂用Beckman公司全自动生化分析仪测定,肝肾组织SOD、GSH-Px、NOS及MDA均用南京建成生物工程研究所相应试剂盒测定。结果:注射STZ后第7、14天中剂量BCP组的血糖均显著低于STZ组(P<0.05,P<0.01)。第13天中剂量组的平均饮水量的数值小于STZ组。第14天BCP各组的体重、胸腺指数与STZ组相比差异均无显著性,5个组之间的血脂、肝MDA、肝肾SOD、GSH-Px、NOS差异均无显著性。 结论:预防性给予BCP可预防STZ所致的高血糖,并使STZ大鼠平均饮水量减少(中剂量);但不能使STZ大鼠降低了的体重及胸腺指数恢复。  相似文献

Herbivorous voles, Microtus arvalis, have characteristics similar to herbivores in that their hepatic glycolytic enzyme activities are relatively low. The effects of a single low dose (100 mg/kg body weight) of streptozotocin (STZ) in voles were studied and the difference in sensitivity to or toxicity of STZ in voles and C57BL/6 mice was compared. In voles which received STZ, the cumulative incidence of glycosuria reached 53% by 4 weeks after administration. The diabetic voles showed marked increas in their blood glucose and plasma free fatty acid concentrations and a significant decrease in plasma immunoreactive insulin concentrations. Their hepatic hexokinase, glucokinase, glutathione peroxidase and glutamate dehydrogenase activities decreased significantly and lesions were widely observed in the liver, kidney and pancreas. The activities of glutathione peroxidase, a scavenger of H2O2, decreased significantly in their liver and pancreas. These changes were not observed in C57BL/6 mice which received STZ. The higher sensitivity to and toxicity of STZ in voles than in mice are considered to be caused by the characteristically low activities of glycolytic enzymes and glutathione peroxidase in the tissues of voles. Abstract

This study investigated the effects of vitamin E and selenium (Se) injections on concentrations of vitamin E, vitamin A, and Se in blood and milk to predict when injections may improve ewes’ performance. Awassi ewes received 0 (control, 13 ewes) or 15 plus 0.05?mg/kg BW of vitamin E and Se (injected, 15 ewes) at 1 and 4 weeks postpartum. Blood and milk samples were collected weekly for 6 weeks. Injections increased vitamin E, decreased Se, and had no effects on vitamin A levels in blood. Blood vitamin E was correlated positively with vitamin A. Injections increased vitamin E, but had no effects on vitamin A or Se levels in milk. Milk vitamin A was positively correlated with vitamin E and Se levels in the control group. Milk vitamins E and A were positively correlated with their corresponding levels in blood. Milk somatic cell count was negatively correlated with blood vitamin A levels.  相似文献

Sixteen piglets were used to determine the effect of vitamin E supplementation on several functional properties of macrophages and neutrophils obtained from weaned piglets. Piglets, immediately following weaning, were assigned to one of three experimental groups: control (no vitamin E supplementation), low level of vitamin E supplementation (100 mg DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate/kg diet) and high level of vitamin E supplementation (300 mg DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate/kg diet). Supplementation of vitamin E lasted for a period of 36 days, following a 3-day adaptation period after weaning. Blood samples were collected on days 0, 12, 24 and 36 of the experimental period, monocytes/macrophages and neutrophils were isolated and the following parameters were determined in macrophages and neutrophils activated by phorbol myristate acetate: total cell-associated and membrane-bound urokinase plasminogen activator (u-PA) activity and superoxide anion production. Results showed that macrophages and neutrophils isolated from piglets that received supplemental vitamin E had higher (P < 0.05) total and membrane-bound u-PA activities as well as higher (P < 0.05) superoxide anion production compared with the values of the corresponding cells obtained from control piglets on day 12 of the experimental period. Both levels of vitamin E supplementation (low and high) were equally effective. In contrast, vitamin E supplementation had no effect (P > 0.05) on total and membrane-bound u-PA activities and superoxide anion production by porcine macrophages and neutrophils on days 24 and 36 of the experimental period. In conclusion, the low level of vitamin E supplementation is recommended for piglets for the first 2 weeks after weaning.  相似文献
