This study investigated possible immunotoxic effects of Senna occidentalis (So) seeds incorporated in broiler chicken rations at different concentrations (0.0%, 0.25%, 0.50% and 0.75%), for 28 or 42 days. We evaluated innate immune function (macrophage activities of spreading, phagocytosis, peroxide and nitric oxide production) and acquired immune function (humoral and cellular immune responses), as well as lymphoid organ weights and pathology. There was enhanced macrophage activity, as hydrogen peroxide production increased (P < 0.05) in cells of birds given 0.75%So, but there were no other pro-inflammatory effects. Birds receiving 0.75% of So in ration for 42 days gained less weight (P < 0.01), and showed a decrease in relative weight of the bursa of Fabricius (P < 0.05) and spleen (P < 0.01). In addition, morphological changes were also noted in these lymphoid organs, with depletion of lymphoid cells on the spleen and bursa of Fabricius, resulting in lower relative weight of both lymphoid organs. No impairment of humoral immune response against Newcastle disease and in cellular immune response after a phytohaemagglutinin challenge was found. It is probable that mitochondrial damage and related apoptosis may be responsible for the enhanced peroxide production and the reduced relative weight of the bursa of Fabricius and spleen. 相似文献

Many of the metabolic incursions resulting from stress and oxidative damage are detrimental to disease resistance. Vitamins A, E, and C and carotenoids are able to protect cells from free radical oxidation, reduce the detrimental effects of certain eicosanoids, and enhance humoral and cellular immune responses in disease. The regulation of cell differentiation by vitamin A in maintaining an epithelial barrier to pathogen entry and the differentiation of precursor cells to functional lymphocytes by 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol are essential to disease resistance. Nutritionists must redefine the levels of vitamins necessary to maximize health-supportive systems. The animal's metabolism must constantly be adjusting to its environmental stress or disease and may require increased vitamins. 相似文献

应用免疫SPA菌体花环法和间接ELISE法对传染性法氏囊病(IBD)疫苗免疫母鸡后,其子代雏鸡外周血液B细胞数量和IgG、IgM、IgA含量进行了动态研究。结果发现:IBD疫苗免疫后,其子代雏鸡外周血液B细胞数量和IgG、IgM、IgA含量均不同程度地高于未免疫的相应对照雏鸡,表明IBD疫苗免疫母鸡后,其子代雏鸡外周血液的体液免疫功能明显增强。而传染性法氏囊病超强毒株攻击子代雏鸡后,未免疫子代雏鸡外周血液的上述各项指标均明显低于疫苗免疫的子代雏鸡,这与IBDV感染雏鸡后,其体液免疫中枢器官法氏囊严重损害,淋巴细胞变性坏死等有关,也是导致感染雏鸡免疫抑制的基础。 相似文献

The effect of lysine deficiency on chicken immune function was evaluated using broiler chickens fed a diet with lysine at 67% of the control diet (1.24% lysine). The evaluation of humoral immune function was conducted by measuring the antibody production to a live Newcastle disease virus (NDV) vaccination using the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The cellular immune function was evaluated through the use of cutaneous basophil hypersensitivity test. The antibody response to NDV vaccination was reduced in broiler chickens fed a lysine-deficient diet when measured by ELISA but not when measured by HI. The cell-mediated immune response was also reduced by lysine deficiency. 相似文献
