An 11-year-old, male castrated English springer spaniel was presented for muscle weakness, lethargy and anorexia while undergoing treatment of Stage IV lymphoma. Persistent hypokalemia prompted multiple diagnostic tests. Serum aldosterone levels, surgical exploration and histopathology confirmed primary hyperaldosteronism. Hyperaldosteronism is a rarely reported endocrinopathy in the dog. This report describes a case in which immunohistochemistry was utilized to confirm the diagnosis of an aldosterone-secreting tumour.  相似文献

Primary T-cell lymphoma is a rare form of CNS neoplasia. Diagnosis may be aided by use of cytologic examination of CSF. Primary CNS T-cell lymphoma should be considered in a patient with multiple cranial nerve abnormalities, even if results of imaging studies are considered normal.  相似文献

A 7-year-old, intact female mixed-breed dog was presented for evaluation of hematuria. Physical examination revealed a suprapubic mass. Ultrasonographic examination showed a large lobular mass occupying the urinary bladder. At the owners' request, the dog was euthanatized and a postmortem examination was performed. Necropsy confirmed the presence of a lobular mass of about 5- to 6-cm diameter protruding into the lumen of the bladder. Histologically, the mass was composed of a large number of atypical lymphoid cells in the lamina propria and mucosal epithelium. Immunohistochemically, the neoplastic cells expressed CD3 but not CD79alpha or keratin and vimentin, supporting a diagnosis of T-cell lymphoma.  相似文献

Primary lymphomas of the canine female genital tract are uncommon tumours. A 9-year-old intact female Lhasa Apso dog presenting with a closed pyometra underwent an ovariohysterectomy (OHE), and the hyperplastic uterine horn along with multiple follicular cysts on the right ovary was examined by histological analysis. Severe infiltration of medium-sized lymphocytes with strong positive immunoreactivity for CD79a and numerous anaplastic features was detected in the unilateral uterine horn, and the dog was diagnosed as having extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (MZBCL). The present case reports an extremely rare occurrence of primary lymphoma involving the uterine horn in a dog and describes histological characteristics of the tumour for definite diagnosis.  相似文献

This report describes a primary central nervous system B-cell lymphoma in a 3-year-old intact female Maltese dog. Canine primary central nervous system lymphomas constitute about 4% of all intracranial primary neoplasms, but comprehensive histopathologic classifications have rarely been carried out. This is the first report of this disease in a young adult dog.  相似文献

A 7-year-old mixed breed dog was presented with a 2-week history of vomiting, diarrhoea, weakness and loss of appetite. Initial laboratory tests revealed hyponatraemia and hyperkalaemia consistent with hypoadrenocorticism. Basal plasma cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone concentrations were not suggestive of primary hypoadrenocorticism but the aldosterone concentration was undetectable. Abdominal ultrasound scan showed a mass within the left kidney and a nodular enlargement of the left adrenal gland. Cytological analysis revealed a large granular lymphoma. The dog died 17 days later. Post mortem histological and immunohistochemical examinations revealed a diffuse large granular T-cell lymphoma involving the mediastinal lymph node, kidneys, pancreas, adrenal and pituitary glands.  相似文献

We describe a case of a dog with hepatosplenic lymphoma, a disease characterized by infiltration of the liver, spleen, and bone marrow with gammadelta T cells, absence of peripheral lymphadenopathy, and an aggressive clinical course. Physical examination findings, hematologic and biochemical abnormalities, and clinical course of the disease in this patient were similar to those in humans. Immunophenotyping of liver and spleen aspirates supported an antemortem diagnosis of T-cell lymphoma consistent with hepatosplenic lymphoma. The diagnosis was confirmed postmortem by a combination of routine histopathology, showing a consistent pattern of organ involvement, and immunohistochemistry showing the infiltrating neoplastic lymphocytes to be T cells expressing the gammadelta T-cell receptor. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of hepatosplenic lymphoma in a dog.  相似文献

A 13-year-old spayed female American Cocker Spaniel was presented for evaluation of a cough and weight loss. Physical exam revealed generalized lymphadenopathy. The patient was diagnosed with marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) on histopathology of an extirpated lymph node. This report demonstrates an unusual case of a pleomorphic neoplastic population documented on cytologic evaluation that had moncytoid features and peripheral blood involvement; a previously undocumented IgG1 monoclonal gammopathy was also an interesting feature of this canine MZL. The patient did not undergo chemotherapy for lymphoma and was euthanized over 4 years after the initial presentation.  相似文献

Abstract: An 18-month-old male Doberman Pinscher was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of the College of Veterinary Medicine for an erythemic nodular mass on the right forelimb. The mass was diagnosed as cutaneous lymphoma, based on cytologic examination of a mass aspirate and histopathology. Using immunohistochemistry the neoplastic cells were positive for CD3 but negative for CD79a, E-cadherin, and pancytokeratin, confirming their origin as T lymphocytes. No tumor recurrence was noted 18 months after surgery. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a solitary nodular form of cutaneous lymphoma in a young dog.  相似文献

A 7-year-old, crossbred, desexed bitch had a fluctuating illness of more than 6 months duration, with signs of inappetence, reduced exercise tolerance, restlessness, panting, black diarrhoea, and red eyes and ears. Haematological examination disclosed persistent polycythaemia, reticulocytosis, normoblastaemia , and normal total plasma protein concentration when not dehydrated. Splenomegaly was present, but there was no evidence of significant pulmonary, cardiac or renal disease on physical, radiographic or electrocardiographic examination. Further investigations revealed normal arterial Po2 and oxygen saturation, and increased total erythrocyte volume. Primary polycythaemia was diagnosed. The dog was rendered anaemic by bleeding, then treated with a single injection of radioactive phosphorus. The patient has had no recurrence of signs and remains well 50 months later.  相似文献

A 6-year-old, 43-kg, spayed female rottweiler was presented for a 1-month history of progressive, left hind-limb lameness. Upon physical examination, a cranial drawer sign and joint distention were present in the left stifle. Radiographically, the stifle had evidence of effusion, remodeling of the patella, and an enlarged popliteal lymph node. Marked synovial thickening and an intact cranial cruciate ligament were noted during surgery. Despite finding a nonspecific, mixed inflammatory response on joint fluid cytopathology, histopathology demonstrated T-cell lymphoma of the synovium. Lameness may be the sole presenting clinical sign in canine lymphoma.  相似文献

Chondrosarcoma of the skull is a rare primary malignant tumor that is slow-growing, but locally aggressive. A 5-year-old, golden retriever was presented to our hospital with a swelling in the left side of her head, and the swelling had slowly enlarged over the previous month. There were no significant changes on the neurological examination. A computed tomography scan revealed a large mass involving bone destruction and prominent matrix mineralization. T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging showed a slightly low-signal intensity area and a T2-weighted image revealed marked, high-signal intensity. There was compression of the adjacent brain parenchyma. Histopathological examination confirmed the lesion to be a chondrosarcoma.  相似文献

Primary chondrosarcoma was found in the quadrate lobe of the liver of a 6-year-old, intact, male Golden Retriever. At 6 months after partial hepatectomy, recurrence in the liver occurred. The dog died of its systemic metastases 10 months thereafter. Histologically, the hepatic mass revealed neoplastic chondrocytes with abundant chondroid matrix, and there were few myxoid areas where the cellularity and pleomorphism of the neoplastic cells were more prominent. The neoplastic cells were positive for periodic acid-Schiff and were immunohistochemically positive for vimentin and S-100 protein; the matrix was deeply stained for alcian blue and was metachromatic for toluidine blue stain. This tumor might be derived from pluripotent mesenchymal cells in the connective tissue of the liver. To the best of our knowledge, in all mammalians, including humans, this is the first report of extraskeletal chondrosarcoma primarily arising in the liver.  相似文献

An eight-year-old, spayed female Labrador retriever was presented for evaluation of left thoracic limb lameness. Radiographs of the left elbow revealed mineralization of the soft tissues surrounding the joint, with no evidence of periarticular bony lysis. Biopsy of the synovial tissues of the left radiohumeral joint yielded a diagnosis of osteosarcoma (OSA). The dog was treated with palliative radiotherapy, piroxicam, and carboplatin chemotherapy, which resulted in excellent pain control for approximately eight months. Amputation of the affected limb was then performed. Six months later, the dog developed multiple subcutaneous OSA metastases, and the dog was euthanized 15 months after diagnosis due to refractory vomiting. This report documents the first known case of primary OSA of the synovium in any species.  相似文献

A 7-year-old male Golden Retriever with swelling of the rostral bridge and right wing of the nasal areas, sneezing, and inspiratory difficulty was referred to a neighbor veterinarian. Except for those in the nasal area, no lesions were noted during routine physical examination. The mass occupying the nasal cavity was not observed radiographically. Punch biopsy of the affected lesions revealed nonepitheliotropic lymphoma. Immunohistochemical staining for CD3 antigen was positive. The dog was diagnosed with solitary nonepitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma. Local radiotherapy and systemic chemotherapy with doxorubicin were instituted and resulted in total clinical remission. The dog has remained disease free for 30 months.  相似文献
