Methemoglobin is hemoglobin containing ferric iron. Methemoglobin cannot bind to oxygen and at high concentrations causes tissue hypoxia. Brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) develop significantly greater methemoglobinemia than Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) or rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) following general anesthesia with benzocaine or tricaine methanesulfonate. The objective of this study was to compare the activity of the major methemoglobin reducing enzyme, NADH-dependent cytochrome b5 reductase (CB5R), in brook trout erythrocytes to the activity of CB5R in Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout erythrocytes. Methemoglobin levels were compared using co-oximetry following in vitro incubation of erythrocytes with sodium nitrite (NaNO2). The CB5R activity was measured using a ferricyanide assay. There was significantly greater methemoglobin at time 0 in brook trout erythrocytes than in rainbow trout or Atlantic salmon erythrocytes (2.79 ± 0.29 %, 2.19 ± 0.23 %, 2.08 ± 0.14 %), (P < 0.001). There was significantly greater methemoglobin induction by NaNO2 in brook trout erythrocytes (33.14 ± 3.32 %) than in rainbow trout or Atlantic salmon erythrocytes (28.73 ± 2.92 % and 24.85 ± 1.40 %, respectively), (P < 0.001). The CB5R activity was significantly less in brook trout erythrocytes (median of 3.05 μmol/min/μl) than in rainbow trout erythrocytes (median of 6.73 μmol/min/μl). The CB5R activity in Atlantic salmon erythrocytes (median 4.09 μmol/min/μl) was not significantly different than in brook or rainbow trout erythrocytes. Total methemoglobin at any one time is a balance between induction by oxidants and reduction by antioxidants. Lower CB5R activity in brook trout erythrocytes may contribute to a species-specific sensitivity to methemoglobin induction; however, there are likely additional factors.  相似文献

Present study examined the effects of Ergosan on growth performance, digestive enzyme activities, hematological parameters and gastrointestinal structure of rainbow trout. Rainbow trout (mean weight 100–110 g) were fed basal diet (control) and diet treated with Aquavac Ergosan (5 g kg?1 of diet) for 50 days. Results of this study showed that Ergosan supplementation significantly increased weight gain (94.27 g vs. 65.04 g), specific growth rate (4.09 vs. 3.10) and feed intake (136.85 g vs. 111.22 g) and decreased feed conversion ratio (1.43 vs. 2.03) compared to control (P < 0.05). Lipase activity and leukocyte and erythrocyte count also increased in juvenile fish fed Ergosan-treated diet compared to control (P < 0.05). Light microscopy demonstrated that both groups of fish displayed normal morphology of proximal intestine and pyloric caeca. In Ergosan-treated group, higher percentage of goblet cell was shown in proximal intestine and pyloric caeca. Present study suggests that Ergosan effectively promotes growth performance, lipase activity and gastrointestinal structure in rainbow trout.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the toxicity of cryoprotectants on the hatching rate of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) embryos. Epiboly and first eye pigmentation stage embryos were immersed in six permeable cryoprotectants, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), glycerol (Gly), methanol (MeOH), propylene glycol (PG), ethylene glycol (EG), and acetamide (Ac), in concentrations of 1–5 M for 5 or 10 min and two non-permeable cryoprotectants, sucrose (Suc) (10%, 15%, 20%) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) (5%, 10%, 15%) for 5 min. The embryos were then washed and incubated until hatching occurred. The toxicity of the cryoprotectant was assessed by the hatching rate. The results illustrated that permeable cryoprotectant toxicity for rainbow trout embryos increased in the order of PG < DMSO < MeOH < Gly < EG < Ac. The hatching rate of the embryos treated with permeable cryoprotectants decreased (P < 0.05) with increased concentration and duration of exposure. There were no significant decreases in hatching rate of embryos treated with sucrose and PVP with the increase of concentration; sucrose had higher hatching rates than PVP. Rainbow trout embryos at first eye pigmentation stage exhibited greater tolerance to cryoprotectants than embryos at epiboly stage.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of different soya oil products on growth, nutrient digestibility, and fatty acid composition of muscle in rainbow trout. The products’ ingredients were soap stock, fat powder, crude oil, and refined soya oil as a control. Four experimental diets were formulated by addition of 12 % of each of the four ingredients to a basal diet. Replacement of refined soya oil by the soya oil products did not influence growth performance until 8 weeks (P > 0.05). This replacement, however, reduced fat digestibility in rainbow trout (83.7 vs. 73.3–79.8 %; P < 0.05). Dietary inclusions of fat powder and crude oil led to larger values of protein digestibility than those of refined soya oil and soap stock (P < 0.05). The compositions of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids of the muscle were similar, but linoleic acid concentration (LA, 18: 2n-6) increased in fish muscle fed refined soya oil compared to the other diets (37 vs. 30–31 %; P < 0.05). Arachidonic acid (ArA, 20: 4n-6) concentration was higher (P < 0.05) in fish fed both fat powder and soap stock than those fed the other diets. In conclusion, refined soya oil can be replaced by soya oil products in rainbow trout diet with no negative impacts on the growth. However, fish fed on diet containing refined soya oil had higher concentration of LA and lower density of ArA. It appears that rainbow trout is capable of digesting soya oil products though the digestibility rate reduced slightly with an increase in saturated fatty acid content.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of three commercial astaxanthin preparations (100 mg kg?1 diet) with different solubilities in water, from DSM (Dutch State Mines), BASF (Badische Anilin and Soda Fabrik) and Wisdom Company on pigmentation of flesh and antioxidation of flesh, serum and liver in rainbow trout with an initial weight of 52.07 g. After 60 days of feeding, there were no significant differences in growth or flesh proximate composition of rainbow trout among groups (P > 0.05); the Salmo Fan score, redness and astaxanthin content of flesh in rainbow trout fed diets supplemented with astaxanthins were higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). At 0, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h after thawing, the flesh malondialdehyde (MDA) content of the three astaxanthin groups was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The total antioxidation capacity (T-AOC) of liver in the three astaxanthin groups was significantly higher, but serum catalase (CAT) activities were lower, than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The results indicate that addition of 100 mg kg?1 astaxanthin from DSM, BASF or Wisdom to the diet could improve flesh redness and liver T-AOC, reduce serum CAT, SOD and flesh MDA and extend the shelf life of flesh, in spite of the different solubilities of the three sources in water.  相似文献

The main aim of the present study was to assess the effects of chronic high stocking density on liver proteome of rainbow trout. Rainbow trout juveniles (42.6 ± 2.3 g average body weight) were randomly distributed into six tanks at two stocking densities (low stocking density (LD) = 20 kg m?3 and high stocking density (HD) = 80 kg m?3). Both treatments were performed in triplicate tanks for a period of 60 days. High stocking density caused a reduction in the growth performance compared with LD fish. Lysozyme activity increased with stocking density, while serum complement activity presented the opposite pattern. Serum cortisol and total protein levels did not show significant differences (P > 0.05) between experimental groups. The fish reared at high stocking density showed significantly lower osmolality and globulin values but higher albumin level. The HD group had significantly higher activities of catalase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase, and malondialdehyde content in the liver when compared to the LD group. Comparative proteomics was used to determine the proteomic responses in livers of rainbow trout reared at high stocking density for 60 days. Out of nine protein spots showing altered abundance (>1.5-folds, P < 0.05), eight spots were successfully identified. Two proteins including apolipoprotein A-I-2 precursor and mitochondrial stress-70 protein were found to increase in HD group. The spots found to decrease in the HD group were identified as follows: 2-peptidylprolyl isomerase A, two isoforms of glyceraldehydes-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, an unnamed protein product similar to fructose-bisphosphate aldolase, 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein, and serum albumin 1 protein.  相似文献

A study was conducted to analyze the effects of snails (Physa gyrina) on biofilm, bacterial abundance, off-flavor-producing bacteria, and off-flavor compounds in reuse aquaculture systems culturing rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Eight experimental-scale systems were used, including four with and without snails. Mean heterotrophic bacteria counts in water were lower (P < 0.05) in systems with snails. Submerged surfaces of sumps containing snails were nearly biofilm-free, while sumps without snails were coated with biofilm. Geosmin levels in trout fillets from snail-stocked systems were generally lower but not statistically different from the controls. Rainbow trout health and performance was not affected by snail presence.  相似文献

Rainbow trout were studied at different rearing densities, fish sizes and feeding frequencies so that we could evaluate the effect of these parameters on fin condition, growth and feed utilisation. In one study, two sizes of rainbow trout (18–70 g or 48–125 g), fed to near satiation at 17.7°C, were examined at two rearing densities (11–41 kg m−3 or 21–92 kg m−3). This study showed that the anal fin was healthier (P < 0.05) at low densities. In the second study rainbow trout were again fed to near satiation and grown from 50 g to 125 g in 16.4°C water, and they were fed either once daily or three times daily at two densities (18–45 kg m−3 or 54–124 kg m−3). Rainbow trout growth and feed utilisation were slightly but significantly (P < 0.05) reduced at high densities, while dorsal fin condition, surprisingly, was better (P < 0.0001) at the high densities. Possible explanations to these findings are discussed. Condition of the left pectoral fin was improved at once daily feeding (P < 0.05) compared with three feedings per day, at which fights for feed possibly are more frequent.  相似文献

Ready-to-cook clean label products were formulated based on two ratios (50:50 and 30:70, R1 and R2) of mechanically separated European sea bass and rainbow trout. R1 and R2, tested as raw and oven-cooked, were stable during 90 days at ?18°C in terms of proximate and fatty acid (FA) composition, shear force, pH, color, and lipid oxidizability. Raw and cooked R1 and R2 were rich in protein (13.76 g/100 g) and unsaturated n3 FA. Shear force and b* of raw R2 were higher than R1 (P < .05). Overall, R2 (more trout) better preserved its characteristics and oxidizability than R1.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine if the South American catfish (Rhamdia quelen) is suitable to be farmed in polyculture with rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in intensive systems during the juvenile phase to maximize feed efficiency. Juveniles of rainbow trout (3.94?±?0.11 g) and South American catfish (2.07?±?0.04 g) were distributed in 16 tanks (100 L) with continuous water renewal at the density of 50 fish/tank. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments (proportions between species) and four replicates. The treatments were 100% trout (100T), 70% trout and 30% catfish (70T30C), 50% trout and 50% catfish (50T50C), and 100% catfish (100C). Fish were fed twice daily with pelleted commercial feed (45% crude protein) during an experimental period of 56 days. No feed was provided for the catfish in polyculture. The weight gained by the trout was higher in polyculture. Fish survival did not differ among the treatments. The average survival of the trout in all tanks was 99.6?±?1.0%, while the survival of the South American catfish was 97.9?±?2.7%. The total feed conversion ratio was lower in the 70T30J treatment, followed by the 100T treatment. Rainbow trout and South American catfish are compatible species for farming together in the first phase of their juvenile development. The different spaces occupied by these species inside tanks probably prevent competition or agonistic behavior. Catfish eat the non-ingested leftover diet from the trout, which improves feed conversion and increases sustainability.  相似文献

This paper reports on inclusion of Spirulina platensis (SP) in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fish diet and its effect on the fish tissue fatty acids (FAs) composition. Fish in triplicate groups with average initial body weight of 75 ± 0.23 g and age of about 7 months were fed a control diet with no supplements and with three experimental diets supplemented with 2.5, 5 and 7.5 weight percent (wt%) of SP for 12 weeks. At the end of experiment, the fillet FA compositions were evaluated. It was found that the composition of FAs in fish fillet was significantly (P < 0.05) affected by inclusion of SP in diets. As compared to the control sample, feeding the fish supplemented particularly with low levels of SP improved the quality of FAs by decreasing undesirable saturated FAs (SFAs) content from 20.03 to 17.93 % and increasing the level of some beneficial long-chain highly unsaturated FAs namely eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5 n-3) from 6.47 to 7.27 %, docosapentaenoic acid (C22:5 n-3) from 1.42 to 1.56 % and docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6 n-3) from 1.26 to 1.35 %. Further increase in the SP inclusion level generally did not lead to desirable results. The SP inclusion in the fish diet had no significant impact on overall contents of n-3 and n-6 polyunsaturated FAs in fish fillet. However, the total highly unsaturated FAs (HUFAs) and n-3 HUFAs levels, UFAs/SFAs ratio and n-3/n-6 index were increased from 11.25, 10.65, 3.98 and 0.57 to 12.13, 11.56, 4.40 and 0.62 %, respectively, as a result of 5 wt% SP loading. In general, it can be concluded that SP inclusion up to 5 wt% of loading in rainbow trout culture can be beneficial in terms of FAs compositions of the fish fillet.  相似文献

Peracetic acid (PAA) is an effective disinfectant/sanitizer for certain industrial applications. PAA has been described as a powerful oxidant capable of producing water quality benefits comparable to those expected with ozone application; however, the water oxidizing capacity of PAA in aquaculture systems and its effects on fish production require further investigation, particularly within recirculation aquaculture systems (RAS). To this end, a trial was conducted using six replicated RAS; three operated with semi-continuous PAA dosing and three without PAA addition, while culturing rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss. Three target PAA doses (0.05, 0.10, and 0.30 mg/L) were evaluated at approximately monthly intervals. A water recycle rate >99% was maintained and system hydraulic retention time averaged 2.7 days. Rainbow trout performance metrics including growth, survival, and feed conversion ratio were not affected by PAA dosing. Water quality was unaffected by PAA for most tested parameters. Oxidative reduction potential increased directly with PAA dose and was greater (P < 0.05) in RAS where PAA was added, indicating the potential for ORP to monitor PAA residuals. True color was lower (P < 0.05) in RAS with target PAA concentrations of 0.10 and 0.30 mg/L. Off-flavor (geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol) levels in culture water, biofilm, and trout fillets were not affected by PAA dosing under the conditions of this study. Overall, semi-continuous PAA dosing from 0.05-0.30 mg/L was compatible with rainbow trout performance and RAS operation, but did not create water quality improvements like those expected when applying low-dose ozone.  相似文献

Rainbow trout (initial body weight 2.5 ± 0.3 g; 30 fish/tank; 4 tanks/treatment) were offered either the control diet or one of four test diets. The test diets contained brown seed coat canola (BSC; Brassica napus), yellow seed coat canola (YSC; Brassica rapa), Brassica carinata (Ethiopian mustard; EM), or Camelina sativa (CAM), which were added to their respective diets at a 15% dietary inclusion level. Final weight of fish fed the control (101.0 g) was higher than that of fish fed BSC (80.7 g) and CAM (85.3 g) (P < 0.05). Fish fed the control also gained more weight (98.4g) than fish fed BSC (78.2 g) and CAM (83.0 g) (P < 0.05). Fish fed YSC and EM at a 15% dietary inclusion level had a final body weight and gain that was more similar to the control than fish fed BSC and CAM. Considering the fact that there was no significant difference among treatments for SGR and FCR for the entirety of the trial, all four oilseeds have potential for use in rainbow trout feeds.  相似文献

Rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss is a cold-water aquaculture species, and a thermally selected strain has been developed by multigenerational high-temperature breeding in Japan. We examined the expression of heat-shock proteins as candidates responsible for thermotolerance in rainbow trout using F2 offspring from F1 hybrids produced between thermally selected and normal strains. From F2 offspring, two groups were selected for western blot analysis, namely, low- and high-thermotolerance groups (times to loss of equilibrium were <30 and ??60?min, respectively). We demonstrated that the expression levels of Hsp70, Hsp60, and Hsp40 in tail fin tissues were significantly higher in the individuals with high thermotolerance than in those with low thermotolerance under non-heat-shock conditions. In particular, Hsp70 was expressed only in the individuals with high thermotolerance. These results suggest that Hsp70 is a major protein responsible for conferring thermotolerance in rainbow trout.  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of cholesterol on growth and cholesterol metabolism of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fed diets with cottonseed meal (CSM) or rapeseed meal (RSM). Four experimental diets were formulated to contain 550 g kg?1 CSM or 450 g kg?1 RSM with or without 9 g kg?1 supplemental cholesterol. Growth rate and feed utilization efficiency of fish fed diets with 450 g kg?1 RSM were inferior to fish fed diets with 550 g kg?1 CSM regardless of cholesterol level. Dietary cholesterol supplementation increased the growth rate of fish fed diets with RSM, and growth rate and feed utilization efficiency of fish fed diets with CSM. Similarly, dietary cholesterol supplementation increased the plasma total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triiodothyronine levels, but decreased the plasma triglycerides and cortisol levels of fish fed diets with RSM or CSM. In addition, supplemental cholesterol increased the free cholesterol and TC levels in intestinal contents, but decreased the hepatic 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-CoA reductase activity of fish fed diets with RSM or CSM. These results indicate that 9 g kg?1 cholesterol supplementation seems to improve the growth of rainbow trout fed diets with CSM or RSM, and the growth-promoting action may be related to the alleviation of the negative effects caused by antinutritional factors and/or make up for the deficiency of endogenous cholesterol in rainbow trout.  相似文献

A feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of the dietary incorporation of autoclaved and raw (non-autoclaved) Ulva meal on juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) growth, nutrient utilization, body composition, diet digestibility and fatty acid composition. An algae-free control diet and four experimental diets with either 5 or 10 % inclusion levels of raw Ulva meal (5 % = RU5; 10 % = RU10) or autoclaved Ulva meal (5 % = AU5; 10 % = AU10) were formulated. Fish were fed three times daily to apparent satiation for 12 weeks. The growth of fish fed RU10 (final weight = 76.7 ± 3.31 g; SGR = 2.8 ± 0.05 %) diet was significantly higher than that in fish fed the AU10 diet (67.5 ± 1.61 g; SGR = 2.6 ± 0.03 %). The feed conversion ratio (FCR) was significantly better in fish fed the RU10 diet (0.9 ± 0.06) compared with control diet (1.0 ± 0.06). Condition factor, viscerosomatic index and dress-out remained unaffected by dietary treatment. The hepatosomatic index (HSI) was significantly lower (P < 0.05) in fish fed the AU10 diet (1.2 ± 0.19) than fish fed the other diets (≥1.6). The level of eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3—EPA) in muscle from fish fed the RU10, AU5 and AU10 diets was significantly higher than in fish fed control diet (P < 0.05). Dietary inclusion of Ulva meals resulted in a significant increase in muscle docosapentaenoic acid (22:5n-3—DPA) levels at the end of the feeding period. The results indicate that the dietary inclusion of raw Ulva meal at levels of up to 10 % can be used without significant negative effects on the growth performance, nutrient utilization, dietary digestibility and muscle fatty acid composition. In fact, the inclusion of dietary raw and autoclaved Ulva meal elevated n-3 fatty acids levels of rainbow trout muscle.  相似文献

Sesamin (S) is a known lipid modulator and has been shown to increase the conversion of α-linolenic acid (ALA) to docosahexaenoic acid in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fed vegetable oil mixtures including linseed oil. In this study, we evaluated the effects of S supplementation in linseed oil-based diets, content of α- and γ-tocopherols, fatty acid (FA) composition, as well as the gene expression of lipid-related genes. Fish with an average weight of 36.5 g were fed different combinations of commercial linseed oil (LO), purified linseed oil triacylglycerols (TAG) with polar fraction removed and a mixed linseed-sunflower oil (6:4 v/v) (MO). S was added at 0.58 g 100?1g feed and fed to the fish for a period of 58 days. Expression of PPARα was downregulated in white muscle of fish fed S containing diets (P < 0.05). The expression of PPARβ1A was not affected by S supplementation except where TAG oil was used. The expression of PPARβ1A declined significantly in TAG + S fed group (P < 0.05), which indicates that some minor compounds in linseed oil might suppress the effect of S on the expression of PPARβ1A. The expression of PPARγ(long) declined in LO + S and MO + S fed group (P < 0.05). The β-oxidation-related genes CPT1 and ACO were upregulated by vegetable oils compared to fish oil. S decreased percentage of ALA in white muscle of fish fed LO + S (P < 0.05). The increased desaturation index and the decreased ALA levels suggest that S may increase the biosynthesis of highly unsaturated FA in rainbow trout.  相似文献

Preliminary experiments are described which aimed to identify compounds that could inhibit the attachment of Flavobacterium branchiophilum strains LAB4a and ATCC 35035 to the gills of rainbow trout. Total inhibition was never achieved, regardless of the compound tested. Formalin-killed or acetone-killed F. branchiophilum cells retained at least some of their adherent nature, relative to untreated (live) cells. Adherence was reduced by 22–33% following immersion of fish in one litre of water containing 0.21 mg of a homologous crude fimbrial extract. When fish were immersed in water containing hyperimmune rainbow trout antiLAB4a serum, a dose-dependent decrease in attachment (a reduction of 15% to 63%) of LAB4a to the gills was observed. Rainbow trout anti-LAB4a serum also reduced the attachment of ATCC 35035 to the gills, but this reduction was not significant. Adherence of LAB4a was not inhibited following exposure of fish to group 1 carbohydrates (arabinose, mannose and xylose), group 2 carbohydrates (dextrose, galactose and lactose), group 3 carbohydrates (galactosamine, glucosamine and fucose) or group 4 carbohydrates (N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine, N-acetyl-neuraminic acid and the globoceramide glycolipid from human erythrocytes). In contrast, when rainbow trout erythrocytes were incubated with the bacteria prior to bath challenge, this resulted in an 87% and 53% reduction in gill-associated LAB4a and ATCC 35035 antigen, respectively, following immersion of rainbow trout in this suspension.  相似文献

A thermally selected strain of rainbow trout has been established by selective breeding since 1966 in Miyazaki, Japan. In the present study, we compared the critical thermal maxima (CTMs), the temperatures at which organisms reach a predefined sublethal endpoint and lose their equilibrium, between a thermally selected and two normal (Donaldson) strains of rainbow trout. The CTM of one normal strain from Nikko (Nikko strain) acclimated to 20 °C (29.7 °C) was significantly lower than those of the thermally selected strain (30.0 °C) and the other Donaldson strain from Aomori (29.9 °C) (P?<?0.05). The F1 generations, F1T and F1N, were produced by crossing thermally selected strain females with Nikko strain males and Nikko strain females with thermally selected strain males, respectively. No significant difference was observed in the CTM between F1T [30.1?±?0.15 °C (n?=?30)] and F1N [30.1?±?0.16 °C (n?=?30)] (P?>?0.05) for fish acclimated to 20 °C, suggesting that the F1 offspring inherited the thermal tolerance trait from one thermally selected strain parent irrespective of whether it was the male or female. F2 offspring of F1T or F1N also showed the thermal tolerance trait. The coefficients of variation for CTM were also compared among all the datasets obtained in the present study and their values for F1 hybrids were lower than those of the parental generation of the Nikko strain (P?<?0.05). In contrast, the coefficients of variation of F2s were the same as those of their parental generation. Furthermore, the thermally selected strain and Nikko strain as a reference family provide a F2 generation for segregating phenotypes, which is required for in-depth genetic analysis of the thermally selected rainbow trout strain.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the antioxidant and histopathological changes in the liver tissue of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) exposed to 0.1 and 0.2 mg/L of a commercial formula of diazinon for a period of 28 days. Antioxidant enzyme activities—catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase—were determined after 7, 14 and 28 days of exposure. Histopathological analyses were performed at the 28th day. All antioxidant enzymes were induced after 7 days of diazinon treatment in both concentrations of diazinon. Catalase and superoxide dismutase maintained elevated activities during all the treatment period. Glutathione peroxidase activity returned to the control values at the 14th day, decreasing to values below control at the 28th day in both diazinon concentrations. Glutathione reductase maintained increased activities at the 14th day in the 0.1 mg/L diazinon, decreasing to control values at the 28th day. In the 0.2 mg/L group, the activity returned to control values at the 14th and decreased below the control at the 28th day. Total antioxidant capacity of hepatocytes significantly decreased in fishes exposed to diazinon during all experimental periods. Hypertrophy of hepatocytes, vacuolization of cell cytoplasm and hepatocyte cloudy swelling were observed in the liver tissue of fish exposed to both concentrations of diazinon. The results showed that diazinon altered the activity of antioxidant enzymes and the cellular total antioxidant capacity inducing oxidative stress and cellular damage in hepatocytes evidenced by histopathological analysis.  相似文献
