Three new spirostane-type glycosides (13) were isolated from the whole plant of Allium flavum. Their structures were elucidated mainly by 2D NMR spectroscopic analysis and mass spectrometry as (20S,25R)-2α-hydroxyspirost-5-en-3β-yl O-β-d-xylopyranosyl-(1  3)-[β-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-galactopyranoside (1), (20S,25R)-2α-hydroxyspirost-5-en-3β-yl O-β-d-xylopyranosyl-(1  3)-[β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-d-galactopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-galactopyranoside (2), and (20S,25R)-spirost-5-en-3β-yl O-α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  4)-[β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-d-glucopyranoside (3). The three saponins were evaluated for cytotoxicity against a human cancer cell line (colorectal SW480).  相似文献

Two new saponins of 20, 26-epoxy derivatives of pseudojujubogenin, hoduloside XI (1) and hoduloside XII (2) were isolated from the seeds of Hovenia trichocarpa. The structures of the new compounds were established by extensive NMR experiments and chemical methods. Hoduloside XI was confirmed to be 3-O-{β-d-glucopyranosyl(1  3)-[β-d-xylopyranosyl(1  2)]-α-l-arabinopyranosyl}-20, 26-epoxypseudojujubogenin. Hoduloside XII was identified as 3-O-{β-d-xylopyranose(1  2)glucopyranosyl(1  3)[rhamnopyranose(1  2)]β-d-glucopyranosyl}-20, 26-epoxypseudojujubogenin. The in vitro cytotoxic activity of compounds 1 and 2 was assayed. They displayed inhibitive activities against human cancer cell lines HL60 and K562.  相似文献

Studies on basic density of woody species in Amazonian savannas are needed to convert data on woody volume to biomass. These ecosystems, which have large carbon stocks, emit greenhouse gases annually due to frequent burnings. Basic density (g cm−3: oven-dry weight/wet volume), measured from complete sample disks (bark, sapwood and heartwood), was calculated for the most abundant woody species in three types of open savannas (Sg: grassy-woody savanna; Sp: savanna parkland; Tp: steppe-like parkland) in Roraima, a state in the northern part of Brazil’s Amazon region. The species selected represent 90–95% of the woody biomass estimated in these ecosystem types. Seven additional species were lumped in an “others” group. In total, we sampled 107 trees: 40 in Sg, 37 in Sp and 30 in Tp. Bowdichia virgilioides (0.516 ± 0.021 (S.E.) g cm−3) was the species with the highest basic density, followed by the “others” group (0.485 ± 0.057 g cm−3), Curatella americana (0.413 ± 0.028 g cm−3), Byrsonima crassifolia + B. coccolobifolia (0.394 ± 0.019 g cm−3), Himatanthus articulatus (0.375 ± 0.020 g cm−3) and B. verbascifolia (0.332 ± 0.020 g cm−3). Basic density of the species with the greatest woody biomass in Roraima’s open savannas (C. americana and B. crassifolia + B. coccolobifolia) did not differ significantly at the 5% level (ANOVA) among the three ecosystem types studied. Wood basic density in these savannas (weighted mean = 0.404 ± 0.025 g cm−3) is lower than that in Amazonian forests (weighted mean = 0.680 g cm−3). These results reduce uncertainty in calculations of carbon stocks and of greenhouse gas emissions from clearing and burning tropical savanna.  相似文献

Four steroidal saponins were isolated from the anti-anoxic fraction of the 60% EtOH extract of Selaginella uncinata, including two new compounds, (3β, 7β, 12β, 25R)-spirost-5-ene-3, 7, 12-triol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  2)-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  4)]-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (1), (2α, 3β, 12β, 25R)-spirost-5-ene-2, 3, 12-triol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  2)-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  4)]-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (2) and two known compounds, (3β, 12β, 25R)-spirost-5-ene-3,12-diol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  2)-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  4)]-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, (3), (1α, 3β, 25R)-spirost-5-ene-2-diol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  2)-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1  4)]-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (4). The four compounds showed potent protective effect against anoxia in the anoxic PC12 cells assay, among which compounds 1 and 2 were the most active. To our knowledge, this is the first study to report the steroidal saponins in the plant S. uncinata and demonstrate their protective effect against anoxia in PC12 cell assay.  相似文献

A sensitive, specific gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) method was established for the quantitative determination of eight coumarins of Radix Angelicae Dahuricae including coumarin, isopsoralen, psoralen, xanthotoxin, bergapten, osthole, imperatorin and oxypeucedanin in rat plasma. Nitrendipine was used as the internal standard (IS). The plasma samples were extracted by acetonitrile. GC separation was accomplished on a DB-5MS column with temperature programmed from 160 °C (17 min) to 190 °C (10 min) at the rate of 20 °C/min, then to 240 °C (5 min) at 20 °C/min, and finally to 280 °C (14 min) at 20 °C/min. The detection was performed on a quadrupole mass spectrometer detector operated by full-scan mode (m/z 50–500). The lower limit of quantitation was 5–10 ng/mL for eight coumarins, and the linear range was 5–1000 ng/mL for the coumarins (R2 > 0.9990). All the validation data were within the required limits. After oral administration, the plasma concentration–time curves showed that the time for maximum concentration (Tmax) was 1.29 for coumarin, 1.83 for isopsoralen, 1.93 for psoralen, 1.30 for xanthotoxin, 2.04 for bergapten, 0.64 for osthole, 1.41 for imperatorin and 0.51 h for oxypeucedanin. The plasma concentration of the eight coumarins was low, with a mean maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) < 6.41 μg/mL. Pharmacokinetic data analysis showed that the eight coumarins had different pharmacokinetic characteristics after oral administration. The method was successfully applied to pharmacokinetic studies of eight coumarins after oral administration in rats.  相似文献

Although Brazil nut (B. excelsa) is often touted as one of the most economically successful NTFPs, little is known about the population structure of this species within its natural range in Southwestern Amazonia or ecological factors that affect fruit production. Since these are considered fundamental for sustainable resource management, we examined a natural Brazil nut stand in an extractive reserve in Acre, Brazil, posing the following questions: (1) What is the spatial distribution, species density, and size–class structure of B. excelsa? and (2) What tree-level factors influence Brazil nut production? In a 420 ha census, 568 trees ≥10 cm diameter at breast height (dbh) were counted, resulting in a density of 1.35 trees ha−1. Based on the nearest-neighbor method, an index of aggregation (R) of 0.77 indicated a rejection of the null hypothesis of a strictly random distribution pattern. Yet, this value suggests a much greater tendency toward randomness than either clumping or uniformity. Our data do not show the commonly reported existence of groves, referring to clearly defined clusters of 50 to several hundred trees separated from similar clusters by great distances. Almost 1/4 of the population (23%) was composed of non-reproductive juveniles. Maximum R2 improvement analysis applied to four distinct diameter classes provided insight into the dynamics of production-related variables over the species life cycle. While dbh explained 1/3 of production variance (R2 = 0.3360) in the smallest diameter class (10 cm  dbh < 50 cm), which included those in the process of reaching reproductive maturity, crown form best explained production variance of very large trees (dbh  100 cm). Results also demonstrated a significant negative correlation between crown vine load and production of trees  50 cm dbh (r = −0.13, P = 0.008), suggesting the need for further study on vine cutting as a possible silvicultural treatment for enhancing nut yields.  相似文献

Dammarane Sapogenins (DS), with main ingredients of protopanaxatriol (PPT, 33%) and protopanaxadiol (PPD, 16%), is an alkaline hydrolyzed product of ginsenosides and had significant activities in improving learning and memory and decreasing chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression. In the present study, the pharmacokinetics and oral bioavailabilities of PPT and PPD were investigated when a single dose of DS was administrated orally (75 mg/kg) and intravenously (i.v., 30 mg/kg) to rats. Their in vitro stabilities in the GI tract were also investigated. PPT and PPD concentrations were measured by LC–MS. The results showed that PPT was eliminated rapidly from the body with an average t1/2, λz value of 0.80 h and CL of 4.27 l/h/kg after i.v. administration, while PPD was eliminated relatively slowly with a t1/2, λz of 6.25 h and CL of 0.98 l/h/kg. After oral administration, both PPD and PPT could be absorbed into the body, but their systemic exposures were quite different. PPT was absorbed into the body quickly, with a Tmax of 0.58 h and a Cmax of 0.13 μg/ml, while PPD was absorbed relatively slowly with a Tmax of 1.82 h and a Cmax of 1.04 μg/ml. The absolute bioavailabilities of PPT and PPD were estimated as 3.69% and 48.12%, respectively. The stability test found that PPT was instable in the stomach with 40% degradation after 4 h incubation at 37 °C, both in pH 1.2 buffer and in the stomach content solution. The instability in the stomach might be one of the reasons for PPT's poor bioavailability.  相似文献

Knowledge of the spatial distribution of soil salinity in areas of jarrah and karri forest where groundwater levels may be close to the surface is important when planning land use activities that may reduce leaf area and thus increase the risk of a rise in stream salinity. Hence this study aimed, firstly, to test whether a Geonics EM31 induction meter could be used to accurately estimate soil salinity in jarrah and karri forest soils. Secondly, to determine an appropriate method of surveying the stream zone with an EM31 to adequately represent the spatial variation in soil salinity.A comparison of EM31 meter estimates of soil apparent electrical conductivity (ECa) with average soil salinity profiles (EC1:5) to 6 m depth across a broad range of sites resulted in good correlations in spring (R2 = 0.66, n = 164, p < 0.001) and autumn (R2 = 0.64, n = 156, p < 0.001). ECa measured in spring, when soil moisture was at its highest, was 25% higher than in autumn, when soil moisture was at its lowest.EM31 surveys along second-order stream zones showed that the highest ECa levels generally occurred within 10 m of the stream centre. However, ECa was highly variable along the length of the streams and the highest levels did not necessarily occur at the lowest part of the catchment. A suitable method for conducting surveys of stream zones is to carry an EM31, while walking along a traverse, taking a reading approximately every 2 m.  相似文献

Reforestation and afforestation have been suggested as an important land use management in mitigating the increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration under Kyoto Protocol of UN Framework Convention on climate change. Forest inventory data (FID) are important resources for understanding the dynamics of forest biomass, net primary productivity (NPP) and carbon cycling at landscape and regional scales. In this study, more than 300 data sets of biomass, volume, NPP and stand age for five planted forest types in China (Larix, Pinus tabulaeformis, Pinus massoniana, Cunninghamia lanceolata, Pouulus) from literatures were synthesized to develop regression equations between biomass and volume, and between NPP and biomass, and stand age. Based on the fourth FID (1989–1993), biomass and NPP of five planted forest types in China were estimated. The results showed that total biomass and total NPP of the five types of forest plantations were 2.81 Pg (1 Pg = 1015 g) and 235.65 Mg ha−1 yr−1 (1 Mg = 106 g), respectively. The area-weighted mean biomass density (biomass) and NPP of different forest types varied from 44.43 (P. massoniana) to 146.05 Mg ha−1 (P. tabulaeformis) and from 4.41 (P. massoniana) to 7.33 Mg ha−1 yr−1 (Populus), respectively. The biomass and NPP of the five planted forest types were not distributed evenly across different regions in China. Larix forests have the greatest variations in biomass and NPP, ranging from 2.7 to 135.37 Mg ha−1 and 0.9 to 10.3 Mg ha−1 yr−1, respectively. However, biomass and NPP of Populus forests in different region varied less and they were approximately 50 Mg ha−1 and 7–8 Mg ha−1 yr−1, respectively. The distribution pattern of biomass and NPP of different forest types closely related with stand ages and regions. The study provided not only with an estimation biomass and NPP of major planted forests in China but also with a useful methodology for estimating forest carbon storage at regional and global levels.  相似文献

For the first time three different natural compounds, isolated from hairy roots of Astragalus membranaceus, cultivated in airlift bioreactor were tested for their cytotoxic potential and apoptosis induction in a panel of human tumor cell lines. Root cultures, cultivated in bioreactor gave 18.5 g l? 1 dry wt roots with the highest astragaloside production in vitro up to now — 1.64% (astragaloside I), 1.12% (astragaloside II) and 1.08% (astragaloside III). In this manner the production in airlift bioreactor can be used as means of reliable supply of cycloartane saponins to extend the research to human clinical studies.  相似文献

The availability of coarse woody debris (CWD) and distribution of dead trees into categories of mortality (dead standing, broken and uprooted) were investigated in north-temperate forests of central Europe (Lithuania). The studied area comprised 188.7 ha and included 18 different stands 40–130 years of age with a variety of tree species (spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.), pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), alder (Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn.), birch (Betula pendula Roth and B. pubescens Ehrh.), aspen (Populus tremula L.), oak (Quercus robur L.), forest types (caricus-sphagnum, vaccinium-myrtillus, oxalis, myrtillus-oxalis, caricus-calamagrostis) and edaphic conditions (peaty, sandy, loamy soils of different moisture). The stands were excluded from wood harvesting for at least 30 years. A total of 11 365 dead trees (over 10 cm in DBH) or 6160.7 m3 of dead wood was found (60.2 trees/ha and 32.6 m3/ha). The volume of CWD per hectare was larger in older stands (rS=0.78, P<0.01). Tree mortality during the last 2 years consisted of 482 trees and 381 m3, or 1.28 trees/ha×year and 1.01 m3/ha×year. In 25–33% of cases it was wind-related. Uprooted and broken trees were of larger DBH than dead standing. The distribution into the categories of mortality was strongly dependent on tree species (chi-square test, d.f.=10,P=0). Dead standing dominated in CWD of pine and alder. Broken trees comprised almost a half in CWD of aspen, and about one-third in birch, alder and oak. Uprooting most often occurred in spruce, aspen and birch. Edaphic conditions and stand age had a pronounced impact on distribution into mortality categories for spruce (chi-square test, d.f.=20, P<0.00001) and pine (d.f.=8, P≤0.0003). On peat soil, only a minority of trees of both pine and spruce was uprooted, and standing dead prevailed. In CWD of spruce and pine, the proportions of both dead standing and broken decreased and that of uprooted trees increased on mineral soils of higher moisture and bulk density in older stands. By contrast, uprooting in birch and alder occurred less often on more wet sites, where the proportions of standing snags were higher. A total of 41 species of wood-decomposing polypores were found in the study area. Among those, 10 (24%) were of conservation value.  相似文献

Two new oleanolic acid saponins, namely celosin C (1) and celosin D (2), were isolated from the ethanol extract of Semen celosiae. Their structures were identified as celosin C (1) and celosin D (2) by spectroscopic and chemical analyses. The hepatoprotective activity of 1 and 2 with oral dose 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 mg/kg, respectively, were investigated by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatotoxicity in mice. The results indicate that they have significant hepatoprotective effects (p < 0.01).  相似文献

The fruits of Solanum torvum Swartz, commonly known as Turkey berry, are edible and commonly used as a vegetable in the South Indian population's diet and as an essential ingredient in Thai cuisine. Five new steroidal glycosides together with five known ones were isolated from the fruits of S. torvum Swartz. Based on chemical and spectral evidence, the five new compounds were identified to be 25(S)-26-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-5α-furost-22(20)-en-3β,6α,26-triol-6-O-[α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  3)-O-β-d-quinovopyranoside] (1), 25(S)-26-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-5α-furost-22(20)-en-3-one-6α,26-diol-6-O-[α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  3)-O-β-d-quinovopyranoside] (2), 25(S)-26-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-5α-furost-22(20)-en-3β,6α,26-triol-6-O-β-d-quinovopyranoside (3), 5α-pregn-16-en-20-one-3β,6α-diol-6-O-[α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  3)-β-d-quinovopyranoside] (4), and 5α-pregn-16-en-3,20-dione-6α-ol-6-O-[α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1  3)-β-d-quinovopyranoside] (5). These new compounds were assayed for cytotoxicities in vitro, and 1 to 4 showed cyotoxic activity against the human melanoma cell line A375, with IC50 values of 30 μM to 260 μM.  相似文献

Uneven-aged management using single-tree or group selection has been in practice for many decades, especially in northern hardwood forests. Use of stocking regulation tools is thought to produce and maintain specific stand structures that upon regulation, are sustainable over time. We evaluated stand structures in northern hardwoods in Upper Michigan across three ownerships that practice different approaches toward uneven-aged management. Industry land (MeadWestvaco—MWV) uses primarily diameter limit cutting combined with a sawyer-select harvest method, retaining a maximum diameter of 45.7 cm (18 in.) with a residual basal area of 16.1 m2/ha (70 ft2/ac) and a cutting cycle of 10 years. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) uses a crop tree release technique with a residual basal area of 18.4 m2/ha (80 ft2/ac) and a cutting cycle of 20 years. Both ownerships view regeneration of new cohorts as inevitable given the intensity of disturbance and the forest type. The third ownership (the Ford Forestry Center School Forest at Michigan Technological University—FFC) employs strict stocking regulation using the BDq method (residual basal area of 16.1 m2/ha (70 ft2/ac), maximum diameter of 50.8–55.9 cm (20–22 in.), and a q-ratio of 1.3) with a cutting cycle ranging from 12 to 15 years.Stand structure on a total of 25 stands was characterized for these ownerships to assess the impact of management strategy on stand structure and species composition. Differences in species composition and lower diversity indices were found where increasing sugar maple dominance was an objective (FFC ownership). All ownerships showed reduced relative importance values of mid-tolerant species such as yellow birch in their stands as compared to values reported for old-growth or unmanaged stands. Diameter distributions were classified into one of three shape categories (negative exponential, increasing q-ratio, and rotated sigmoid) using the regression of DBH, DBH2, and DBH3 on the log10 of trees per hectare. The best model in terms of adjusted-R2 and root mean square error (RMSE) was selected for each stand. All management strategies resulted in similar occurrences of distribution shapes, despite some evidence of a trend toward a rotated sigmoid distribution. These trends suggest that several different diameter distribution shapes in uneven-aged northern hardwoods in the Lake States are possible following a variety of management approaches, with sugar maple increasing in dominance with strict adherence to certain stocking regulation guidelines.  相似文献

Phosphorus deficiency is widespread in the subhumid highlands of eastern Africa but there are few data on the effect of P deficiency on the growth of agroforestry tree species. We studied the effect of P application on growth, nutrient uptake and dry matter partitioning in young trees of Calliandra calothyrsus, Cedrela serrulata, Eucalyptus grandis, Grevillea robusta, Markhamia lutea, Senna spectabilis, and Sesbania sesban on a P-deficient soil (Kandiudalfic Eutrudox, bicarbonate-EDTA extractable P = 1 mg kg−1) in western Kenya. The trees were grown at two P levels (control and 500 kg added P ha−1) at 1 m2 spacing in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Leaf K concentrations were in the low range for all species (5–9 mg g−1) and K deficiency may have limited responses to P. Averaged over species, P addition increased aboveground shoot dry matter by a factor of 2.6 at 62 and 124 days, but the response decreased to 1.3 at 325 days. The increases at 62 days were large in sesbania (5.4) and eucalyptus (3.2) but small in calliandra (1.4) and markhamia (1.1). Relative response to P was more strongly correlated with shoot growth rate per unit root length among species than with shoot growth rate alone. Calliandra, which had high early growth rate but low response to added P, had an exceptionally high root length (6.0 km m−2) compared with the other species (0.3–2.1 km m−2). P addition increased N and P content but decreased final shoot K content in sesbania and calliandra, and had little effect on K content in the other species. The high-yielding species (eucalyptus, sesbania and calliandra) accumulated more than 30 g N and 2 g P m−2 in shoots in 325 days of growth. The proportion of total shoot N in wood (branch + stem) was in a higher range (67–75%) in the shrubby species (sesbania, calliandra, senna) than in the upperstorey tree species (38–43%). Slow early shoot growth relative to total root length, and high specific root length (root length per unit root mass) are proposed as criteria for the selection of species and provenances that are well adapted to P deficient soils.  相似文献

Five new ursane-type triterpenoidal saponins (15), together with five known ones (610), were isolated from the EtOH extract of the roots of Ilex cornuta. The structures of saponins 15 were elucidated as 19α-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 3β-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside (1), 19α-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 3β-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside-6-O-ethyl ester (2), 19α-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 3β-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1  2)-β-D-glucuronopyranoside (3), 3β-O-[α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1  2)-β-D-glucuronopyranosyl]-19α-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (4) and 3β-O-[α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1  2)-β-D-glucuronopyranoside-6-O-methyl ester]-19α-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (5), on the basis of spectroscopic analyses (IR, ESI-MS, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR) and chemical reactions. Protective effects of compounds 110 against H2O2-induced H9c2 cardiomyocyte injury were tested. Compounds 15, 7, and 10 showed cell-protective effects. Among them compound 5 exhibited the highest activity. No significant DPPH radical scavenging activity was observed for compounds 110.  相似文献
