The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of light limitation on the water quality, bacterial counts and performance of Litopenaeus vannamei postlarvae reared with biofloc at low salinity (≈9 g L?1). Two treatments were designed: T1 = culture with natural sunlight and T2 = culture in darkness. After 28 days, in both treatments, the final weight of shrimp was over 0.6 g with a specific growth rate over 7.4% d?1, and a survival rate over 70%. In both treatments, Vibrio sp. concentration presented low values (culture with natural sunlight = 0.1 to 9.9 × 102 CFU mL?1, culture in darkness = 0.4 to 11.7 × 102 CFU mL?1) and Bacillus sp. had high values (culture with natural sunlight = 0.7 to 66.0 × 104 CFU mL?1, culture in darkness = 0.7 to 65.8 × 104 CFU mL?1). All water quality parameters remained within the ranges suitable for shrimp culture, except for alkalinity during the first stage of the study. Although in some sampling periods some significant differences were found in bacterial counts and water quality parameters, shrimp productive performance under culture with biofloc at low salinity was not affected significantly by light limitation. 相似文献

Biofloc (consortium of diverse microorganisms associated to suspending substrates) was developed from waste of shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei postlarvae culture under low salinity (5 g L?1) to provide an additional nutritious biomass and reduce fishmeal inclusion in feeds in a 28‐day indoor shrimp nursery trial conducted in 15 experimental containers (250 L stocked at 600 org m?3). Four experimental diets (isoproteic and isocaloric) containing different percentage of fishmeal: 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% substituted by vegetable meal mix (corn, sorghum and wheat) were formulated and elaborated. A control treatment consisted of a commercial feed. The main water quality parameters were monitored, and no significant differences were found among treatments. The growth and survival were similar among treatments. In general, digestive enzymatic activities showed differences being greater in the biofloc system compared with clear water. It was concluded that low‐salinity shrimp nursery could be successfully developed with minimum inclusion of fishmeal in feeds, without significant effect on production response. The adjustment of C : N ratio allowed the increase of microbial biomass in the bioflocs, which contributed to maintain good water quality, provide live food and enhance digestive enzymatic activity of cultured organisms. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the addition of Navicula spp. and Brachionus plicatilis on water quality and growth of postlarvae shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei reared in a biofloc system. Four treatments were considered: a control (biofloc system – BFT); BFT with the addition of Navicula spp. (BFT‐N); BFT with the addition of Brachionus plicatilis (BFT‐B) and BFT with the addition of Navicula spp. and Brachionus plicatilis (BFT‐NB), each in triplicate. Shrimp (16.2 ± 0.03 mg) were stocked at a density of 2500 shrimp m?3 and plankton were added on days 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 at a density of 5 × 104 cells mL?1 (Navicula spp.) and 30 organisms L?1 (Brachionus plicatilis). The shrimp were fed a formulated feed in four daily rations composed of 40% crude protein and 8% lipids. Significant differences between treatments were observed for final weight, yield, feed conversion ratio, specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio and protein content of the shrimp. The combined plankton addition of Navicula spp. and B. plicatilis had better performance parameters, indicating their benefit as natural food sources for postlarvae L. vannamei in biofloc systems. 相似文献

Effect of K+ and Mg2+ in water on the performance of Litopenaeus vannamei using bioflocs was evaluated. Control had water with K:Mg (1:4.57) and other treatments (K:Mg of 1:5.4, 1:4.65, and 1:3.77), both with salinity of 4 g/L. Initial mean weight of shrimp was 0.08 ± 0.007 g. No difference in shrimp growth performance and survival was observed (P > 0.05) except in the control. Our results suggest that it is possible to culture postlarvae of Litopenaeus vannamei in low-salinity water with bioflocs when the water has an initial potassium concentration of 30.90 ± 8.5 mg/L and magnesium of 167.0 ± 3.9 mg/L. 相似文献

This trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of nucleotides on growth of whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, and the survival and metabolic responses to ammonia stress test. Experimental diets were as follows: low fish meal diet (LFMD), and four LFMD test diets, each supplemented with 0.1% guanosine monophosphate (GMP), 0.1% inosine monophosphate (IMP), 0.1% mixture of GMP and IMP and 0.1% mixture of GMP, IMP, uridine monophosphate (UMP) and cytidine monophosphate (CMP). The shrimp specimens (initial body weight: 0.99 ± 0.01 g) were randomly allocated into five groups and fed four times daily for 8‐weeks. After the trial, final body weight was recorded and haemolymph was withdrawn for haematological analysis. The shrimp was then challenged with 70 mg/L ammonia (LC50) for 10 days. Survival and haemolymph of the shrimp were taken after exposure to ammonia. The highest growth performance was observed in the shrimp fed diet supplemented with GMP (p < .05), while survival was not influenced by the test diets in the feeding trial. In the ammonia challenge test, the highest survival was observed in the shrimp fed GMP supplemented diet compared to others. The plasma protein, glucose and cholesterol levels increased in all the treatments while triglycerides level decreased post challenge. Cortisol level recovered at day 10th after the challenge. Shrimps fed with nucleotides diets showed higher protein and glucose level compared to control groups post challenge. In general, nucleotides supplemented in the diet enhanced growth, improved stress resistance while modulating the haemolymph metabolites in L. vannamei under ammonia stress. 相似文献

There is considerable interest in the culture of whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) in inland low‐salinity water in Alabama and other states in the Sunbelt region of the US. However, the growing season is truncated as compared with tropical or subtropical areas where this species is typically cultured, and temperature is thought to be a major factor influencing shrimp production in the US. This study, conducted at Greene Prairie Aquafarm located in west‐central Alabama, considered water temperature patterns on a shrimp farm in different ponds and different years; and sought possible effects of bottom water temperature in ponds on variation in shrimp survival, growth and production. Water temperature at 1.2 m depth in 22 ponds and air temperature were monitored at 1‐hr intervals during the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 growing seasons. Records of stocking rates, survival rates and production were provided by the farm owner. Correlation analysis and linear mixed model analysis of variance were used. Results showed that hourly water temperatures differed among ponds. The range of water temperature in each pond explained 41% of the variance in average final weight of shrimp harvested from each pond. In conclusion, the results suggest that variation in water temperature patterns has considerable influence on shrimp growth and survival in ponds. 相似文献

An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the optimum dietary protein‐to‐energy (P/E) ratio in juvenile whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei. Six diets were formulated with two protein levels (30% and 35%) and three digestible energy levels (16, 17.5 and 19 kJ/g diet) at each protein level (30P16, 30P17.5, 30P19, 35P16, 35P17.5 and 35P19). Fifty shrimp averaging 0.97 ± 0.03g (Mean ± SD) were randomly distributed in biofloc tanks and fed one of the experimental diets. Weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR) and feed efficiency (FE) of shrimp fed the 35P17.5 diet were significantly higher than those of shrimp fed 30P16, 30P17.5 and 30P19 diets (p < .05). Results for non‐specific immune responses showed that diet 35P17.5 caused higher lysozyme activity in shrimp comparing to lower protein diets. Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) of plasma were lower for shrimp fed on diets consisting of higher protein and energy levels than shrimp fed on the 30P19 diet. Analyses of digestive enzyme activities showed higher trypsin activities for shrimp fed on 35P17.5 and 35P19 diets comparing to 30P16 and 30P17.5 diets. Also, hepatopancreatic lipase activity of shrimp fed 35P16, 35P17.5 and 35P19 diets were significantly higher than those of shrimp fed the other diets. In conclusion, based on the results for growth performance, biochemical parameters, immune responses, oxidative stress and enzyme activities, 35% protein and 17.5 kJ/g digestible energy (35P17.5) could be considered as the optimum protein‐to‐energy ratio in the diet of juvenile whiteleg shrimp reared in a biofloc system. 相似文献

Ammonium toxicity of short‐duration alkaline events and their variability, as related to 1–30 day‐old postlarvae whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone), was assessed by determining medium lethal concentration (LC50) of total ammonium‐nitroen (TAN) and NH3‐N to 4‐h exposures. Exploratory concentrations of TAN were tested at 30°C and pH 9, until mortality from 5% to 95% occurred between 0.9 and 18 mg N L?1. To determine the daily variation of ammonium toxicity, 64 lots of 20 postlarvae were exposed to eight different ammonium concentrations (0, 0.9, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 mg N L?1), in two different environmental scenarios: α (pH 8, 26°C) and β (pH 9, 30°C). In environmental scenario α, ammonium concentrations up to 18 mg L?1 pose no short‐term mortality risks for ages 1–30 days. In scenario β, mortality was recorded at all ages. The values of LC50 (4 h) for different postlarvae ages have daily variability, ranging from a minimum of 2.54 to a maximum of 6.02 mg L?1 of TAN (0.76 and 1.81 mg N L?1 of NH3‐N), for PL3 and PL19, respectively, with a logarithmic linear tendency to increase with age. Postlarvae mortality at 4 h and 3.0 mg N L?1 TAN exposure was lower and less variable in ages greater than 19 days old. 相似文献

The effect of Streptomyces strains RL8 and N7 on the growth, survival and histological structure of the hepatopancreas of Litopenaeus vannamei was determined. Shrimp post‐larvae of 0.02 ± 0.01 g were fed with diets supplemented with Streptomyces spp. RL8 and N7 at 108 CFU g?1 of feed for 30 days, followed by challenge with Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Toxicity was also assessed by recording the mortality associated with the use of 1‐100 g/L of cell mass and 108‐1010 CFU/g of feed of these strains in Artemia salina and L. vannamei, respectively. The group treated with Streptomyces sp. RL8 had significantly better weight gain (0.62 ± 0.18 g) and survival rates (84.44 ± 5.7%) after challenge, whereas the one fed with Streptomyces sp. N7 showed significantly higher survival rate (57.77 ± 6.8%) than the control group (0.55 ± 0.20 g and 11.11 ± 9.0%, respectively). The hepatopancreas of Streptomyces‐fed shrimps showed better histological integrity with significantly lower degree of atrophy and necrotic tubules than their unfed counterpart. No toxicity associated with these strains was found. Consequently, they can be excellent probiotic candidates to improve the physiological status and prevent infectious diseases of cultured L. vannamei. 相似文献

The culture of Litopenaeus vannamei in inland low salinity waters is currently being practiced in various countries around the world. These environments are often deficient in key ions essential for normal physiological function, including potassium (K+) and magnesium (Mg2+). Farmers have sometimes been able to counteract ionic deficiencies in the water profile by adding mineral salts containing sources of K+ and Mg2+. The purpose of this study was to explore the possibility of correcting deficiencies of K+ and Mg2+ in the water profile with dietary supplementation of these minerals. Two separate 7‐week experiments were conducted in 4.0 g−1 artificial low salinity water to evaluate the effects of mineral supplements (K+, Mg2+ and NaCl) to diets of L. vannamei reared in low salinity waters. In trial 1 seven diets were formulated (10 g NaCl kg−1, 20 g NaCl kg−1, 150 mg kg−1 Mg2+, 300 mg kg−1 Mg2+, 5 g K+ kg−1, 10 g K+ kg−1, and a basal diet to serve as a control). Minerals were added in the form of purified potassium chloride (KCl), magnesium chloride (MgCl2·6H2O) and NaCl. Trial 2 evaluated the use of a coating agent for the Mg2+ and NaCl treatments, while a K+ amino acid complex was utilized in the K+ treatments to reduce mineral leaching. Trial 2 was performed using similar treatment levels as trial 1. Shrimp survival and growth were assessed in both experiments. Results from trial 1 indicated no significant differences in survival, growth or percent weight gain. Results from trial 2 revealed no significant differences in survival and growth in the NaCl and Mg2+ treatments. However, significant differences in growth (P < 0.05) were observed when using the 10 g K+ kg−1 treatment, suggesting that dietary supplementation of a K+ amino acid complex may help improve growth of the species in low salinity waters. 相似文献

The present study assessed the effects of different types of feeds and salinity levels on water quality, growth performance, survival rate and body composition of the Pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, juveniles in a biofloc system. Shrimp juveniles (2.56 ± 0.33 g) were cultured for 35 days in 300 L fibreglass tanks (water volume of 180 L) with a density of 1 g/L in six treatments. Three sources of feed (100% formulated feed, mixture of 66.6% formulated diet and 33.3% wet biofloc, and 100% wet biofloc) and two levels of salinity (10 and 32 ppt) were considered in two control groups and four biofloc treatments. Water quality parameters in the biofloc treatments were significantly better than control groups (p < .05). The highest increase in growth performance and survival rate were obtained in salinity of 32 ppt and mixed feed sources. Analysing the proximate composition of body shrimp indicates an increase in lipid and ash levels in biofloc treatments, which was more evident in the salinity of 32 ppt. In addition, the proximate analysis of shrimp body showed significant differences between biofloc treatments and control groups (p < .05). The highest FCR was found in the treatment with salinity level of 10 ppt and fed only with floc. Overall, it was found that the artificial diet supplemented with biofloc at the salinity of 32 showed better performance in the juvenile stage of Pacific white shrimp. 相似文献

A feeding trial was carried out to determine the effects of bioflocs on dietary protein requirement in juvenile whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei. Four bioflocs treatments (BFT) and one control group were managed: BFT fed diets 25% of crude protein (CP) (BFT‐25%), 30% CP (BFT‐30%), 35% CP (BFT‐35%) and 40% CP (BFT‐40%), and clear water control without bioflocs fed with 40% CP (CW‐40%). Triplicate groups of shrimp (initial body weight, 1.3 g) were fed one of the test diets at a ratio of 7% body weight daily for 8 weeks. At the end of the feeding trial, significantly (P < 0.05) higher weight gain and specific growth rate were obtained in shrimp fed BFT‐35% and BFT‐40% compared to BFT‐25% and BFT‐30%. Shrimp fed BFT‐35% exhibited the lowest feed conversion ratio. Significantly higher muscle nucleic acid indices were also recorded such as DNA content in BFT‐30%, RNA content in BFT‐35% and RNA/DNA ratio than that of shrimp fed control. Total protein level in the haemolymph of shrimp fed BFT‐40% was significantly higher than those of shrimp fed BFT‐25% and BFT‐30%. Therefore, the present results demonstrated that, when L. vannamei juveniles were reared in bioflocs‐based tanks, dietary protein level could be reduced from 40% to 35% without any adverse effect on shrimp growth performance, body composition and haemolymph characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of low salinity on the water quality, microbial flocs composition and performance of Litopenaeus vannamei juveniles reared over 40 days in a zero‐water‐exchange super‐intensive system at 0, 2, 4 and 25 g L?1. At 0 g L?1, the mortality was total at the 26th day, and consequently, these salinity data were not included in the statistical analysis. Among the water quality parameters, only pH and the total suspended solids concentration were significantly influenced by salinity. However, a trend towards intensification of the nitrification processes was observed as the salinity increased, with the lowest ammonia and the highest nitrite and nitrate concentrations found at 25 g L?1. The concentrations of ciliates and flagellates diminished and increased, respectively, with the increase in salinity. Diatoms predominated at 25 g L?1, whereas at 2 and 4 g L?1, chlorophytes were more abundant. Microbial floc crude protein content was reduced with the increase in salinity, whereas ash content demonstrated the inverse trend. The best overall growth performance and survival were observed at 25 g L?1. However, satisfactory productivity was also found at 4 g L?1, suggesting the viability of rearing L. vannamei at low salinity under zero‐water‐exchange conditions. 相似文献

An eight‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the contribution of biofloc on dietary lipid requirement in whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. Five diets with graded levels of dietary lipid (45, 60, 90, 120 and 150 g/kg) were fed to juvenile shrimp. Final weight, weight gain and specific growth rate of shrimp fed diets with 60, 90 and 120 g/kg lipid levels were significantly higher than those of shrimp fed diets with lipid levels 45 and 150 g/kg (p < .05). Feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio of shrimp fed 60, 90 and 120 g/kg were higher than those fed 150 g/kg diet. Plasma total cholesterol and triglyceride levels were lower in shrimp fed 45 g/kg compared with those fed the 90 g/kg (p < .05). Also, lysozyme activity for 90 g/kg group was higher than the 15 g/kg group. Hepatopancreas lipase and amylase activities of shrimp fed 90 and 120 g/kg diets were significantly higher than those of shrimp fed 45 and 150 g/kg diets. Broken‐line regression analysis for weight gain indicated that the dietary lipid requirement of whiteleg shrimp juveniles reared in a biofloc system was estimated to be higher than 56 g/kg but <60 g/kg. 相似文献

The effects of salinity fluctuation on the growth, intermoult period and energy budget of juvenile Litopenaeus vannamei were investigated. Salinity fluctuation regimes were set in different frequencies of 2, 4 and 8 days and different amplitudes of ±2, ±5 and ±10 g L?1 from a control salinity of 20 g L?1. After a 48‐day feeding trial, the intermoult period of shrimp became shorter with increasing amplitude and frequency of salinity fluctuation (P<0.05). Both the frequency and the amplitude of salinity fluctuation had a significant effect on the growth rate of L. vannamei juveniles (P<0.05). At the frequency of 4 days, the highest growth rates occurred at amplitudes of 5–10 g L?1, whereas the growth rate was the lowest at 10 g L?1 when the frequency was reduced to 2 days. Feed intake (FI) and assimilation efficiency (AE) of shrimp were also significantly affected by the salinity fluctuation (P<0.05) and matched the growth rate response. The energy expenditures for growth (G), respiration (R), excretion (U) and exuviae (E) to the energy consumed as food (C) were not affected by salinity fluctuation. However, salinity fluctuation significantly affected the percentage of C as faeces (F), with the lowest value occurring at salinity amplitudes of 5–10 g L?1 and frequencies of 4–8 days. Therefore, salinity fluctuations (every 4 days by ±5–10 g L?1) result in higher growth rates than constant salinity conditions (20 g L?1) through greater FI, enhanced feed assimilation and reduced faecal energy loss. 相似文献

Increasing feeding rates may provide an increase in production, thus nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and organic matter will also increase. These nutrients promote a greater oxygen demand and concentrations of toxic metabolites which can lead to frequent problems with low dissolved oxygen and an abundance of blue‐green algae. Four feed management practices were evaluated among sixteen 0.1 ha ponds culturing Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Feeding treatments included hand feeding using the Standard Feeding Protocol (SFP), SFP plus 15% from 8 to 16 weeks, an automatic‐solar timer which fed SFP+15%, and an AQ1 acoustic demand feeder allowing up to 12 kg/day·pond based on shrimps feeding response. Samples were analysed at weeks 0, 4 and 8–16 for the following parameters: chlorophyll a, total ammonia nitrogen, nitrite–nitrogen, nitrate–nitrogen, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, soluble reactive phosphorus, total suspended solids, total suspended volatile solids, turbidity, conductivity, salinity and biological oxygen demand. Samples were collected and shipped overnight to Auburn, Alabama for off‐site analysis. On‐site water quality was also obtained at the farm. The AQ1 acoustic demand feeder produced the most shrimp with a yield of 4,568 kg/ha; however, the AQ1 also had the highest total ammonia nitrogen and nitrite–nitrogen levels late in the growing season. The AQ1 feeder may be a viable, reduced labour and cost alternative for the shrimp commercial industry; however, such technologies must also be matched to the ability of the production system to process nutrients. 相似文献

A 15-day study was conducted to evaluate the effect of enrichment of Artemia metanauplii with four different emulsions, including: (A) Easy-DHA Selco; (B) Easy-DHA Selco + L-lysine (4 g/L); (C) Easy-DHA Selco + DL-methionine (4 g/L); and (D) Easy-DHA Selco + L-lysine (2 g/L) + DL-methionine (2 g/L) on growth and stress resistance of white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei larvae (from Mysis I to postlarvae12). It is noticed that shrimp PL in group B had the highest wet (36.1 ± 3.1 mg) and dry (1116.7 ± 60.0 µg) weights as well as stress resistance to fresh water (64.0 ± 5.5%). 相似文献

The nutritional effect of vitamin E in dietsfor Litopenaeus vannamei postlarve (PL19)was investigated. Four formulated diets withdifferent combinations of -tocopherylacetate (-TA), ascorbic acid (AA) andhighly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) weretested, using four replicates.No significant differences in survival wereobserved among treatments after 34 days offeeding. However, shrimp fed with a dietcontaining 2% fish oil (low n-3 HUFA content),200 mg.kg–1 -TA and100 mg.kg–1 AA (diet H/E/C) showedsignificantly better growth than those fed adiet supplemented with 5% fish oil (high n-3HUFA content), 200 mg.kg–1 -TA and100 mg.kg–1 AA (diet H+/E/C). Shrimp fedwith a diet containing 5% fish oil,900 mg.kg–1 -TA and100 mg.kg–1 AA (diet H+/E+/C) showed a significantly higher tissue level of n-6 PUFAthan postlarvae fed diet H+/E/C. No definiteconclusion could be drawn about a possibleinteraction between -TA and AA, since acomparison of the diet containing 5% fish oil,200 mg.kg–1 -TA and700 mg.kg–1 AA (H+/E+/C+) and the dietH+/E/C did not show any significant differencesin any of the measured parameters. Theantioxidative status of the shrimp tissue(measured by means of the thiobarbituric acid(TBA) assay and expressed as nM malonaldehyde(MA) per gramme dry weight) was equal for alltreatments. Nevertheless, there was a slightlylower MA value with the diet H+/E/C+,indicating that AA may be an effectiveantioxidant in the aqueous phase and at thewater/lipid interface of the tissue. The tissuelevels of -T and AA were highlydependent on the amounts in diets and nocorrelation between -T and AAincorporation could be observed. 相似文献
