1. The influence of dietary conjugated linoleic acid isomer (CLA, 0 and 10 g/kg) on the metabolic and physiological responses to immune stimulation induced by a single injection of Salmonella enteritidis lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or repeated injections of LPS and Sephadex G-50 was determined in male broiler chicks. 2. In experiment 1, 10-d-old chicks were fed on experimental diets for 14 d and half of the birds fed on each diet were injected intraperitoneally with LPS (1.5 mg/kg body weight). In experiment 2,7-d-old chicks were fed on experimental diets for 18 d. Immune stimulation was started at 19 d old and continued for 5 d. Half of the birds fed on each diet were injected intraperitoneally with 0.25 mg/kg body weight of LPS at 19, 21 and 23 d of age, and with 250 mg/kg body weight of Sephadex at 20 and 22 d of age to stimulate the immune system. 3. In experiment 1, giving CLA prevented an increase in blood heterophil to lymphocyte ratio 7 h after a single injection of LPS, and increases in plasma ceruloplasmin and alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (AGP) 24 h after the injection, but not 7 h after the injection. CLA also prevented a decrease in food intake for 24 h after LPS injection. 4. In experiment 2, the CLA diet partially prevented reductions in body weight gain and weight gain to feed intake ratio caused by repeated injections of LPS and Sephadex. Feeding CLA prevented increases in plasma ceruloplasmin and AGP at 24 d of age caused by repeated injections of LPS and Sephadex, but not at 20 d of age. 5. These results suggest that feeding CLA alleviates some undesirable metabolic and physiological changes induced by immunological stimulation in male broiler chicks.  相似文献

1. The anti-inflammatory effects of dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on broilers repeatedly challenged with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were investigated. 2. Day-old broiler chicks were allotted into three treatment groups and fed on a control diet or diets containing 5.0 or 10.0 g CLA/kg diet. Six chicks from each treatment were injected with LPS (0.25 mg/kg body weight) at 16, 18 and 20 d of age. Splenic cyclooxygenase (COX) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) activities, and prostaglandin E(2) (PGE(2)) and nitric oxide (NO) production as well as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) mRNA expression were measured at 21 d of age. 3. Chicks fed 10.0 g CLA/kg diet had lower COX activities and PGE(2) production that the controls. Dietary CLA (10.0 g/kg) did not significantly diminish LPS-induced enhancement of COS-2 activity, inhibited the subsequent increase in PGE(2) production. 4. Regulation of COX-1 activity contributed to the difference in PGE(2) production. 5. CLA did not markedly attenuate the increase of iNOS activity and NO production caused by LPS challenge. Chicks fed CLA had lower iNOS activity and NO production than the controls. 6. Dietary CLA activated splenic PPAR-gamma mRNA expression and increased PPAR-gamma mRNA expression after LPS injection. 7. These results suggest that dietary CLA has immunomodulatory effects in the spleen by restricting basal PGE(2) and NO to lower levels and enhancing PPAR-gamma mRNA expression. During the inflammatory response, dietary CLA did not alleviate the increase in COX-2 and iNOS activities but enhanced PPAT-gamma mRNA expression.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究饲粮添加共轭亚油酸(conjugated linoleic acid,CLA)对肉仔鸡肠道黏膜免疫反应的影响。试验选用72只1日龄健康、体重相近的爱拔益加(AA)雄性肉仔鸡,随机分配到对照组和CLA组,分别饲喂基础饲粮和在基础饲粮中添加1%CLA的饲粮,每组6个重复,每个重复6只鸡。21日龄屠宰取样。结果表明:CLA组肉仔鸡空肠食糜分泌型免疫球蛋白A(secretory immunoglobulin A,SIgA)含量(P<0.01)和空肠SIgA基因mRNA表达水平(P<0.01)均高于对照组;饲粮添加CLA显著提高肉仔鸡空肠过氧化物酶体增殖物激活受体γ(PPARγ)基因mRNA表达水平(P<0.01),但转化生长因子β4(transforming growth factor-β4,TGFβ4)基因mRNA表达水平在2组之间没有显著差异(P>0.05);CLA组肉仔鸡Peyer氏结CD8+T细胞亚群百分数(P<0.01)和淋巴细胞转化率(P<0.05)均显著高于对照组。由此可见,饲粮添加1%CLA提高了21日龄肉仔鸡空肠SIgA水平,激活PPARγ可能是CLA调节SIgA表达的途径之一。饲粮添加1%CLA影响21日龄肉仔鸡空肠黏膜细胞免疫功能。  相似文献

1. The influence of dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on the antioxidant status in the absence or presence of endotoxin exposure was studied with male broiler chicks. 2. In experiment 1, a total of 240 1-d-old broilers were allotted into 4 dietary groups (0, 2.5, 5.0 or 10.0 g pure CLA/kg) to study the influence of CLA on growth performance and antioxidant defence systems. The results showed that growth performance was not altered by 42 d of CLA consumption. Increased total superoxide dismutase (TSOD) activities in liver, serum and muscle were observed in chicks given 10.0 g CLA/kg diet. Dietary CLA at 10.0 g/kg also markedly elevated liver catalase (CAT) activity. Malondialdehyde (MDA), a marker of lipid peroxidation, decreased in liver, serum and muscle in chicks given 5.0 and 10.0 g CLA/kg diet. 3. In experiment 2, a total of 120 1-d-old broilers were fed on a control diet (without CLA) or 10.0 g CLA/kg diet. Half of the birds fed on each diet were injected intraperitoneally with 0.25 mg/kg body weight of Salmonella enteritidis lipopolysaccharide (LPS) at 16, 18 and 20 d of age. Decreased glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), TSOD activity and increased ceruloplasmin and MDA concentrations were seen in the challenged chicks. Dietary CLA prevented the loss of body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of chicks followed repeated endotoxin exposure. CLA partially inhibited the increase of serum ceruloplasmin and MDA at 17 and 21 d of age and notably suppressed the decrease of serum TSOD activity at 21 d of age. 4. These results suggested that dietary CLA enhances the activity of antioxidant enzymes including TSOD and CAT. Supplementation of CLA has been shown to ameliorate the antioxidant balance and performance of chicks during oxidative stress.  相似文献

本试验旨在探讨日粮添加共轭亚油酸(CLA)对肉仔鸡体组成和肉品品质的影响。240只1日龄肉仔鸡随机分配到4个日粮处理组(0%、0.25%、0.5%和1%CLA),每个处理6个重复,每个重复10只鸡。试验结果表明:42d时,0.5%和1%CLA组肉仔鸡胸肌率显著高于对照组(P<0.05),1%CLA组肉仔鸡42d腿肌率显著高于对照组,肉仔鸡的腹脂率在各处理之间没有显著差异(P>0.05),1%CLA组肉仔鸡胸肌粗蛋白质粗脂肪比显著高于对照组(P<0.05)。0.5%、1%CLA组肉仔鸡胸肌滴水损失和丙二醛(MDA)含量显著降低(P<0.05)。试验结果表明,CLA可改善肉仔鸡屠体性状,增加鸡肉系水力和延长货架存放时间。  相似文献

The objective of this study was to eval- uate the effects of inorganic phosphorus source and phytase addition on performance, nutrient digestibility and bone mineralization in broiler chickens. In Exp. 1,150 two-day old, male broiler chicks were fed a corn-soybean meal basal diet supplemented with phos- phorus provided by dicalcium phosphate, tricalcium phosphate or defluorinated rock phosphate. Five cages containing 10 birds were allotted to each of the three treatments. In Exp. 2,120 three-day old, male broiler chicks were fed the basal diet from Exp. 1 supplemen- ted with 0,250,500 ,or 1,000 P-'rU phytase per kg of diet. Six cages containing five chicks were allotted to each of the four treatments. In Exp. 1, there was no difference in weight gain, feed intake or feed conver- sion as a result of feeding the different sources of in- organic phosphorus. The digestibility of phosphorus was significantly lower (P =0.01 ) for chicks fed di- ets supplemented with tricalcium phosphate than for chicks fed the other two diets. However, despite the lower digestibility, serum phosphorus levels did not differ among the three treatments. For Exp. 2, feedconversion showed a linear improvement (P = 0.03 ) with increasing levels of phytase inclusion ( days 0 to 33 ). Phytase supplementation resulted in linear increa- ses in the digestibility of dry matter (P = 0.02 ), crude protein ( P --- 0.04 ) and energy ( P 〈 0.01 ). Chicks fed 1,000 FTU/kg phytase had significantly higher bone calcium ( P = 0.05 ) and bone breaking strength (P = 0.04 ) than chicks fed the basal diet on day 33. In conclusion, the results of the current study indicated that the performance of birds fed diets sup- plemented with dicalcium phosphate, tricalcium phos- phate or defluorinated phosphate was similar and therefore production costs could be lowered by choo- sing the cheapest inorganic phosphorus source when formulating diets for poultry. When diets were formu- lated to meet dietary phosphorus requirements, the growth of broilers was not enhanced with phytase sup- plementation. However, increases in feed conversion and bone breaking strength and its potential to impact culling and mortality in broiler operations may be suf- ficient justification for the routine inclusion of phytase in diets fed to broilers.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究活性酵母对脂多糖(LPS)应激黄羽肉鸡肠道健康的影响。选取480羽1日龄黄羽肉公鸡,随机分成6个组,分别为抗生素组(基础饲粮+0.025‰抗生素)、抗生素+LPS组(基础饲粮+0.025‰抗生素,注射LPS)、0.05%活性酵母组(基础饲粮+0.05%活性酵母)、0.05%活性酵母+LPS组(基础饲粮+0.05%活性酵母,注射LPS)、0.50%活性酵母组(基础饲粮+0.50%活性酵母)和0.50%活性酵母+LPS组(基础饲粮+0.50%活性酵母,注射LPS),每组8个重复,每个重复10只鸡。试验期56 d。抗生素+LPS组、0.05%活性酵母+LPS组和0.50%活性酵母+LPS组的试验鸡于21、23、25和27日龄每只鸡肌肉注射2 mL 0.2 mg/mL LPS,其余试验鸡肌肉注射等量生理盐水。于21和27日龄注射LPS或生理盐水后2、4、6、8、10、12和24 h测量试验鸡的直肠温度,并检测27和56日龄试验鸡的肠道细胞凋亡指数以及27、35和56日龄试验鸡的肠道食糜微生物数量和肠道形态结构。结果表明:1)与注射生理盐水相比,LPS刺激显著提高了21日龄注射后2 h和27日龄注射后2和4 h黄羽肉鸡的直肠温度(P0.05),显著降低了21日龄注射后12 h和27日龄注射后8 h黄羽肉鸡的直肠温度(P0.05);饲粮中添加活性酵母对黄羽肉鸡的直肠温度无显著影响(P0.05);饲粮中添加活性酵母与肌肉注射LPS对黄羽肉鸡的直肠温度无显著交互作用(P0.05)。2)与注射生理盐水相比,LPS应激显著提高了27日龄黄羽肉鸡的十二指肠和回肠细胞凋亡指数(P0.05);饲粮中添加活性酵母对黄羽肉鸡的肠道细胞凋亡指数无显著影响(P0.05);饲粮中添加活性酵母与肌肉注射LPS对黄羽肉鸡的肠道细胞凋亡指数无显著交互作用(P0.05)。3)与抗生素相比,饲粮中添加0.05%和0.50%的活性酵母显著提高了27、35和56日龄黄羽肉鸡回肠食糜酵母菌数量(P0.05);与注射生理盐水相比,LPS应激对黄羽肉鸡回肠和盲肠食糜微生物数量无显著影响(P0.05);饲粮中添加活性酵母与肌肉注射LPS对黄羽肉鸡肠道食糜微生物数量无显著交互作用(P0.05)。4)与抗生素相比,饲粮中添加0.50%活性酵母显著提高了35日龄黄羽肉鸡的空肠绒毛高度(P0.05);与注射生理盐水相比,LPS应激显著提高了56日龄黄羽肉鸡的十二指肠隐窝深度(P0.05);饲粮中添加活性酵母与肌肉注射LPS对黄羽肉鸡的肠道形态结构无显著交互作用(P0.05)。综上所述,LPS能成功诱导黄羽肉鸡的免疫应激反应,饲粮中添加活性酵母能够提高黄羽肉鸡肠道绒毛高度和食糜中酵母菌数量,改善肠道黏膜及菌群结构,但肌肉注射LPS与饲粮中添加活性酵母无显著交互作用。  相似文献

试验采用2×2因子设计(日粮类型0%或1%CLA,肉鸡性别)研究日粮CLA对不同性别肉仔鸡生长性能、屠体性状和脂肪代谢相关酶的影响。结果表明:日粮中添加1%CLA可以显著增加各性别肉仔鸡各阶段的体增重,并改善了4~6、0~6周的饲料转化效率(P<0.05),可以显著提高各性别肉仔鸡的胸肌率、同时显著降低各性别肉仔鸡的腹脂率(P<0.05),显著降低了各性别肉仔鸡腹脂脂蛋白脂酶(LPL)活性及其mRNA相对表达量(P<0.05),显著降低了各性别肉仔鸡腹脂及肝脏硬脂酰辅酶A去饱和酶(SCD)mRNA相对表达量(P<0.05)。另外除体增重部分指标外,性别和日粮CLA对肉仔鸡屠体性状和脂肪代谢相关酶的影响不存在互作关系。  相似文献

Effect of dietary supplementation of astaxanthin (Ax) from Phaffia rhodozyma on lipopolysaccharide‐induced inflammatory responses was investigated in male broiler chickens fed a corn‐based diet. Birds (1 week of age) were fed a corn‐enriched diet containing either 0 or 100 ppm Ax for 2 weeks and were intraperitoneally injected with lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 1 mg/kg body weight). Inflammatory responses were evaluated by determining changes in expression of messenger RNA (mRNA) in cytokines and mediators related to inflammatory responses (interleukin (IL)‐1 beta and ‐6, inducible nitrite synthase (iNOS), interferon (IFN)‐ γ and cyclooxygenase (Cox)‐2 in the liver and spleen after 2 h of LPS injection and plasma ceruloplasmin concentration as an acute phase protein. Birds fed Ax showed significantly higher iNOS mRNA expression in the liver and spleen compared to that of control birds. Ax‐fed birds also showed greater increase in mRNA expression in the liver of IL‐1, IL‐6 and IFN‐γ compared to that of control birds. The enhancing effect of Ax was further progressed when LPS was injected. No difference was found in plasma ceruloplasmin concentration between the Ax‐fed group and control group. The results suggest that feeding supplementation of Ax (100 ppm) to a corn‐enriched diet possibly does not have anti‐inflammatory effect in male broiler chickens.  相似文献

Immune competence, resistance to Escherichia coli and growth were measured in female chicks of broiler male parent lines from four different commercial sources. These chicks were fed with three levels of dietary crude protein (CP) from day-old. The protein contents in the diets were 18%, 20.5% and 23%; these diets are referred to as the low-, medium- and high-protein diets, respectively. There was a significant genotype by dietary protein interaction for body weight at 35 days of age but not at 14 or 28 days of age. At 14 days of age, the chicks fed on the high-protein diet weighed significantly more than those fed on the low-protein diet, but there were no differences between the chicks fed on the medium- and low-protein diets. The influence of CP content on body weight had disappeared by 28 days of age. There were significant differences between the genotypes in antibody production in response to sheep red blood cell (SRBC) inoculation, but no such differences were observed between the chicks fed the different levels of dietary protein. Chicks fed on the high-protein diet had lower lesion scores following E. coli inoculation than those fed on the low-protein diet. There were also significant differences in lesion scores among the genotypes. Genotypes with heavier body weights had significantly higher lesion scores and lower antibody titres than those with less body weight. Also, genotypes of lower body weight had a greater cutaneous basophilic hypersensitivity response to phytohaemaglutinin-P inoculation, and a better humoral response against SRBC and a lower heterophil to lymphocyte ratio.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted with 208 day-old male Cobb feather-sexed chicks to study tissue accumulation of Cu as an estimate of biological availability of inorganic Cu sources for chicks. Chicks were allotted randomly to dietary treatments that included an unsupplemented basal corn-soybean meal diet (11.1 mg/kg Cu, DM basis) or this basal diet supplemented with 150, 300 or 450 mg/kg Cu either as reagent-grade acetate or feed grade oxide, carbonate or sulfate. Chicks were housed in batteries and allowed ad libitum access to feed and tap water for 21 d. Liver Cu was not affected by dietary Cu from the oxide source, but it increased (P less than .001) with increasing dietary Cu from all other sources. Bone Cu was lower (P less than .05) in chicks fed 150 mg/kg Cu compared to other dietary levels of Cu but was not influenced (P greater than .10) by Cu source. Using the slope-ratio technique from regression of log liver Cu on mean daily Cu intake with Cu from acetate set at 100%, the relative biological availability values were estimated to be 88.5 and 54.3% for sulfate and carbonate, respectively, and oxide was essentially unavailable.  相似文献

  1. A study was conducted to determine the efficacy of bentonite clay (BC), diatomaceous earth (DE) and turmeric powder (TUM) in alleviating the toxic effects of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1).

  2. A total of 250 Ross-308 d-old male broiler chicks were assigned to 10 dietary treatments (5 replicates of 5 chicks) from hatch to d 21. Dietary treatments were: basal diet; basal diet plus AFB1 (2 mg) or BC (0.75%), or DE (0.75%), or TUM (200 mg/kg curcuminoids) and different combinations of AFB1, BC, DE and TUM.

  3. Feed intake (FI), body weight gain (BWG) and feed gain (FG) of the birds fed on BC or DE separately were not different from control birds. Birds fed on TUM only had similar FI and FG but lower BWG than control chicks.

  4. Aflatoxin B1 reduced FI, BWG and serum concentrations of glucose, albumin, total protein calcium, but increased FG and relative liver and kidney weights. Chicks fed on the combination of AFB1 and BC had similar FI and FG to control chicks. Chicks fed on the combination of DE and AFB1 had lower FI (23.1%) and BWG (28.6%) compared with control chicks.

  5. Chicks fed on the combination of TUM and AFB1 also had decreased FI (26.2 %) and BWG (31%) compared with control chicks. Chicks fed on the combination of AFB1, BC and TUM consumed significantly higher amounts of feed compared with chicks fed on only AF, but gained less when compared with control diet chicks.

  6. Chicks fed on the combination of AFB1, DE and TUM diet had poorer growth performance than those fed on AFB1 alone. None of the combination diets reduced the severity of liver lesions.

Pathology and histopathology of gossypol toxicity in broiler chicks   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Two experiments were conducted to determine the toxicity, pathology, and histopathology of purified gossypol in broiler chicks. Gossypol was added to broiler feed at 0, 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg of feed in Experiment 1 and at 0, 800, and 1600 mg/kg of feed in Experiment 2. Day-old broiler chicks were fed these diets from 1 to 21 days in Experiment 1 and from 1 to 23 days in Experiment 2. In Experiment 1, body weight and feed intake at 21 days were not significantly affected by dietary gossypol. However, chicks fed gossypol at 400 mg/kg of feed had poor feed conversion ratio compared with the other treatment. Feed conversion ratios were 1.493, 1.564, 1.471, and 1.60 for chicks fed gossypol at 0, 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg of feed, respectively (Experiment 1). Chicks fed 400 mg/kg gossypol also had mild perivascular lymphoid aggregate formations and bilary hyperplasia in the liver. In Experiment 2, gossypol at 1600 mg/kg resulted in 28.1% mortality. Gossypol at 800 and 1600 mg/kg feed resulted in significant decreases in body weight and feed intake of chicks. The average body weights of 23-day-old chicks in Experiment 2 were 676, 224, and 111 g for 0, 800, and 1600 mg/kg gossypol, respectively. Feed conversion ratios of chicks fed 800 and 1600 mg/kg gossypol were significantly higher than those of chicks fed control diets (1.383 vs. 1.564 vs. 1.745 for 0, 800, and 1600 mg/kg gossypol, respectively). Plasma iron and hematocrit values were significantly reduced by gossypol at 800 and 1600 mg/kg of feed. Enlarged gallbladder was the only gross pathology symptom associated with gossypol levels. Severe cases of perivascular lymphoid aggregate formation, biliary hyperplasia, and hepatic cholestasis were observed in chicks fed 800 and 1600 mg/kg of gossypol in feed. No gossypol-related changes were observed in kidney tissues of chicks. These results show that gossypol is toxic to broiler chicks at high levels. This study also shows that histopathologic changes in liver due to gossypol also occur at levels lower than the levels that affect body weight.  相似文献

It has been argued that stimulation of the immune system depresses performance. Accordingly, an experiment was conducted to determine the effect of dietary xylitol (150 g/kg diet) on growth and selected inflammatory responses in male broiler chickens. During the final 6 d of the experimental periods, chicks were injected with antigens: Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on days 1, 3 and 5 and with Sephadex-G50 superfine on days 2 and 4 to stimulate macrophage functions. The immune stimulation reduced body weight gain and food intake, but enhanced alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (AGP) concentration and interleukin (IL-1) like activity in plasma. Feeding the xylitol diet partially, but significantly, prevented the reductions in body weight gain and food intake, without affecting the early stage of inflammatory responses triggered by LPS and Sephadex injections.  相似文献

1. Two studies were conducted to investigate the effect of feeding different concentration and forms of zinc (Zn) on the performance and tibia Zn status of broiler chicks.

2. In Experiment 1, chicks fed on the control or the diet supplemented with 12?mg of Zn as sulphate had lower feed intake, weight gain and tibia Zn content than other treatment groups. Chicks given 12 and 24?mg of organic Zn in starter and grower phases, respectively, had the same performance and tibia Zn content as those fed 40?mg of Zn as sulphate and the same performance but higher tibia Zn content than those given 12?mg of Zn as organic over the 42?d.

3. In Experiment 2, chicks given 24?mg organic Zn had greater weight gain than chicks fed on the other treatment diets in the starter period. Chicks fed on the control diet had lower tibia Zn content than chicks fed other treatment diets. Chicks given 80?mg Zn as sulphate had higher tibia Zn content than chicks fed the other treatment diets except those given 40?mg of Zn as sulphate.

The experiments examined the physiological response of growing cockatiel chicks to varying levels of dietary vitamin A (VA) or beta-carotene and the rate of liver VA uptake. Adult cockatiels breeding pairs (n=10 pairs) were fed a VA-deficient diet for approximately 90 days prior to onset of egg laying. Breeding pairs were then allowed to feed their chicks diets containing either 0 IU VA/kg, 4000 IU VA/kg, or 2.4 mg beta-carotene/kg. After 5 weeks, chicks fed 0 IU VA developed poor feathering, facial dermatitis and reduced body weight (p<0.05). Liver VA was higher in chicks fed 4,000 IU VA or 2.4 mg beta-carotene vs. those fed 0 IU VA (p<0.05). Duodenal beta-actin and 15,15'-dioxygenase mRNA expression was similar to that of growing chickens, and greatest for cockatiel chicks fed 0 IU VA (p<0.01). Chicks fed 0 IU VA had keratinization of the bursa and oral mucosa, and reduced bursa development and lymphocyte density (p<0.05). Finally, when chicks fed 0 IU VA were orally gavaged with 20 IU VA/g body weight, maximal liver retinol uptake occurred between 0 and 24 h and reached a plateau at 36 h. These data demonstrate that VA deficiency can be prevented with 4,000 IU VA/kg diet or 2.4 mg beta-carotene/kg diet, although beta-carotene conversion to VA may be lower in cockatiels than chickens.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the nutritional quality of 2 varieties of Purdue high-digestible sorghum (PHD1 and PHD2) and a normal sorghum, compared with corn, in diets of pigs and broiler chicks. In Exp. 1, 12 pigs (average BW, 55 kg) fitted with ileal T-cannula were fed 4 diets containing 946 g of corn or sorghum (PHD1, PHD2, and normal) per kg in a 2-period crossover design (i.e., each pig received 2 diets over a 2-wk period with 6 pigs per dietary treatment) to determine apparent ileal or total tract digestibility of nutrients and energy. There was no difference in the ileal or total tract digestibility of DM, energy, P, Ca, or N among dietary treatments. In Exp. 2, a total of 192 broiler chicks were grouped by weight into 8 blocks of 4 cages each with 6 chicks per cage, and cages were assigned randomly to 1 of the 4 dietary treatments within each block. Chicks were fed corn-soybean meal (SBM) or sorghum-SBM diets for 21 d to determine apparent total tract retention and then switched to diets containing 935 g of the corresponding corn or 1 of the 3 sorghum varieties per kg for 7 d to determine apparent ileal digestibility and total tract retention. Apparent ileal digestibilities of DM and P, as well as energy, were not different in chicks fed diets containing 935 g of corn or 1 of the 3 sorghum varieties per kg. However, apparent total tract retention of DM, energy, and N in chicks fed corn was greater (P < 0.05) than those fed 1 of the 3 sorghum varieties. Although the apparent ME content of corn was greater than PHD1 and normal sorghum (P < 0.01), it was not different from PHD2 sorghum. There was no difference in apparent total tract retention of DM between chicks fed the corn-SBM and PHD-SBM diets, but it was greater (P < 0.05) in chicks fed the corn-SBM diet than those fed the normal sorghum-SBM diet. Apparent total tract retention of N in chicks fed the PHD1-SBM diet was lower (P < 0.05) than in those fed the corn-SBM diet but greater (P < 0.05) than in chicks fed the normal sorghum-SBM meal diet. No difference in the apparent ME content between the corn-SBM and PHD2-SBM diets was observed, but it was greater (P < 0.05) for the corn-SBM diet than the PHD1- or normal sorghum-SBM diet. Weight gain, feed intake, and feed efficiency were not different in chicks fed the corn-SBM or sorghum-SBM diets. Sorghum could serve as a substitute for corn in cereal grain-SBM diets for pigs and broiler chicks.  相似文献

The effect of feeding cassava root meal on growth performance, hydrocyanide intake, haematological indices and serum thiocyanate concentration of broiler chicks was investigated using 300-day-old male broilers. There were five dietary treatments arranged in a 2?×?2?+?1 factorial arrangement of two processing methods of cassava root (peeled and unpeeled) included at two levels (100 and 200 g/kg) plus a control diet (maize-based diet, containing no cassava root). This study was performed to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation with Aloe vera (AV) powder and synbiotic as growth promoter agents on performance, gut morphology, immune responses, hematology and serum biochemistry in broilers. A total of 240‐day‐old male broiler chicks (Ross 308) were randomly assigned to six treatments with four replicates. Birds were offered either a corn‐soybean meal basal diet (control) or the basal diet supplemented with 200 mg/kg virginiamycin (VM), 1 g/kg synbiotic (Syn), 2.5 g/kg AV (AV1), 5.0 g/kg AV (AV2) or 7.5 g/kg AV (AV3). Chickens fed any of the diets, except diet AV1, exhibited better feed conversion ratios at the 14–28 day period and higher average daily gain and duodenal villus height/crypt depth ratio at 42 days than those fed the control diet. Synbiotic supplementation caused a marked increase in the serum antibody titer against infectious bursal disease and infectious bronchitis vaccines. Feeding diet AV3 significantly increased red blood cell count and hemoglobin concentration, and decreased serum triglyceride level compared to the control group. The results suggested that dietary inclusion of 5 and 7.5 g/kg AV, similar with synbiotic supplementation, can be applied as effective alternatives to in‐feed antibiotics for broiler diets.  相似文献
