A nutrient solution experiment was done to evaluate effects of different concentrations of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) on leaf mineral concentrations and some enzymes activity of melon seedlings (Cucumismelo var. inodorus subvar. Khatouni). Different levels of these nutrients including 0, 53, 105, 158 and 210?mg L?1 N; 0, 8, 16, 23 and 31?mg L?1 P; 0, 59, 118, 176 and 235?mg L?1 K, all corresponding to 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of their concentrations in Hoagland nutrient solution, were applied to plants. The results showed that the highest leaf nitrate reductase (NR) activity was observed at highest N and P levels, whereas the three highest K levels showed the highest NR activity. The highest leaf peroxidase activity was observed at 8?mg L?1 P, 59?mg L?1 K and 158?mg L?1 N. The leaf catalase activity was highest at zero concentration of P, 158?mg L?1 N and 176?mg L?1 K; however, catalase activity was decreased by increasing P levels. Leaf protein content showed an increasing trend with increasing N, P and K levels of nutrient solution, while there was no significant difference between 158 and 210?mg L?1 N. The highest leaf concentrations of N, P, K and Mg were observed at highest nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus levels of nutrient solution, whereas the highest leaf concentration of Ca were obtained at 53 or 105?mg L?1 N, 176?mg L?1 K and 23–31?mg L?1 P. The highest iron concentration of leaves was obtained from 23 to 31?mg L?1 P, 176?mg L?1 K and 210?mg L?1 N.  相似文献

The goal of this study was to compare the performances of strong base anion (SBA) exchange and activated carbon adsorption in the removal of hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI), from a real groundwater matrix exploited for drinking purposes. Two SBA resins and three granular activated carbons (GAC) were tested by batch experiments for kinetics and equilibrium isotherm determination. SBA resins showed higher affinity toward Cr(VI) (present in raw water at about 20 μg L?1) with respect to the GACs, with faster kinetics and higher equilibrium adsorption capacities. Among GACs, vegetal-based carbons showed higher Cr(VI) removal efficiencies than the mineral-based carbon, which can be related to the more developed textural properties. SBA resins also displayed relevant removal capacities towards nitrate and sulfate (present at mg L?1 concentration levels), while boron (present at about 60 μg L?1) was effectively removed by GACs. Batch experiment results were elaborated to estimate the chromium throughputs for the studied materials, to preliminary compare their performances in a real-scale application. The monitoring of a real-scale GAC adsorption stage permitted to validate throughputs estimation and confirmed that, despite being effective toward synthetic organics, GAC adsorption is a not feasible solution for Cr(VI) removal, with extremely early breakthrough. SBA exchange process resulted to be the most suitable solution, providing the best sorbent usage rates. However, SBA resin usage rates can strongly increase when considering the removal of nitrate and sulfate ions, requiring much shorter cycle times.  相似文献

The present study was carried out in order to investigate the removal of soluble Mn2+ from an aqueous solution using Bacillus cereus. A manganese aqueous solution at 50 mg L?1 was treated, and the product was less than 1 mg L?1 of residual concentration, which complied with environmental regulations. Before the optimization, B. cereus was able to remove Mn2+ ions from an aqueous solution; however, the residual content was around 2.5 mg L?1. Screening experiments aiming at defining the effects of the growth medium composition indicated that both casamino acid-peptone and yeast extract contributed to manganese removal. These experiments also showed the interaction between these two components of the culture media, nevertheless the use of glucose did not prove significant. Considering these observations, the Doehlert design was used to generate a response surface. The model was significant with the p value lower than 0.05 and the lack-of-fit not significant (p > 0.05). The optimized composition of the growth medium was defined as 0.5 g L?1 of casamino acid-peptone and 0.25 g L?1 of yeast extract, whereas glucose could be removed from the original growth medium. When the optimized condition of the growth medium was used, the time required for manganese removal was reduced from 21 to 8 days. After optimization, B. cereus was capable of producing high manganese removal, reducing the residual concentration to levels below 1.0 mg L?1.  相似文献

The herbicides 2,4-diclorophenoxiacetic and 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acids (2,4-D and MCPA) are widely used in agricultural practices worldwide. Not only are these practices responsible of surface waters contamination, but also agrochemical industries through the discharge of their liquid effluents. In this investigation, the ability of a 2,4-D degrading Delftia sp. strain to degrade the related compound MCPA and a mixture of both herbicides was assessed in batch reactors. The strain was also employed to remove and detoxify both herbicides from a synthetic effluent in a continuous reactor. Batch experiments were conducted in a 2-L aerobic microfermentor, at 28 °C. Continuous experiments were carried out in an aerobic downflow fixed-bed reactor. Bacterial growth was evaluated by the plate count method. Degradation of the compounds was evaluated by UV spectrophotometry, gas chromatography (GC), and chemical oxygen demand (COD). Toxicity was assessed before and after the continuous process by using Lactuca sativa seeds as test organisms. Delftia sp. was able to degrade 100 mg L?1 of MCPA in 52 h. When the biodegradation assay was carried out with a mixture of 100 mg L?1 of each herbicide, the process was accomplished in 56 h. In the continuous reactor, the strain showed high efficiency in the simultaneous removal of 100 mg L?1 of each herbicide. Removals of 99.7, 99.5, and 95.0% were achieved for 2,4-D, MCPA, and COD, respectively. Samples from the influent of the continuous reactor showed high toxicity levels for Lactuca sativa seeds, while toxicity was not detected after the continuous process.  相似文献

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of land use on nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N) in shallow groundwater (G-N) and total nitrogen (N) in river water (R-N). The study area consisted of 26 watersheds (1342 km2) covering 72% of Kagawa Prefecture in Japan. We estimated G-N specific concentrations, which showed the magnitude of the upland fields, paddy fields, forests and urban land-use contributions to watershed-mean G-N. G-N specific concentrations were gained as partial regression coefficients using a multiple regression analysis of the watershed-mean G-N concentrations and the land-use ratios in each of the 26 watersheds. The results showed that the G-N specific concentration, which was gained as the partial regression coefficient for the multiple regression analysis, was 15.2 mg L?1, 10.3 mg L?1, 2.3 mg L?1 and 2.5 mg L?1 for the upland fields, paddy fields, forests and urban land-use types, respectively. R-N pollution load runoff to the river mouth was calculated by multiplying R-N specific concentration (previously reported) by river flow at the river mouth. Similarly, G-N pollution load arrival to groundwater was calculated by multiplying G-N specific concentration by the groundwater flow. The R-N pollution load runoff was 19.3 kg ha?1 y?1, 7.7 kg ha?1 y?1, 1.7 kg ha?1 y?1 and 7.6 kg ha?1 y?1, while the G-N pollution load arrival was 7.3 kg ha?1 y?1, 5.0 kg ha?1 y?1, 1.1 kg ha?1 y?1 and 1.2 kg ha?1 y?1, for upland fields, paddy fields, forests and urban areas, respectively. These results showed that the N in river water and groundwater was derived mainly from runoff and leaching from croplands. Therefore, the relationships between watershed-mean non-absorbed, applied nitrogen (NAA-N: nitrogen applied to cropland via fertilizer and manure without being absorbed by crops), R-N concentration and watershed-mean G-N concentration were investigated. A curvilinear correlation was observed between NAA-N and R-N concentrations (r2 = 0.68) except for one small, high-density, urban watershed, and a weak linear correlation was observed between NAA-N and G-N concentrations (r2 = 0.42).  相似文献

Abstract

We have identified Crassocephalum crepidioides (Benth.) S. Moore (Compositae) as a cadmium (Cd)-accumulator plant in a heavy-metal polluted environment. In soil polluted with Cd, 5.7–17.5 mg kg?1 Cd, concentrations in the above-ground plant tissues were measured as 14.6–78.6 mg kg?1 with transfer factors in the above-ground plant tissues (concentration in above-ground tissues/soil concentration) of 1.5–6.0. No other toxic heavy metals or plant micronutrients were found to have accumulated into the above-ground plant tissues. In a hydroponic culture with 1 µmol L?1 Cd added to Hoagland's nutrient solution, Cd concentration in the above-ground plant tissues was 121.0 mg kg?1, with a transfer factor of more than 1000. In a pot culture carried out for 9 weeks in a greenhouse, the highest Cd concentration in the above-ground plant tissues, 121.2 mg kg?1, was found in a treatment with 5 mg kg?1 Cd, whereas the highest Cd content in an above-ground plant tissue, 106.1 µg, was found in a treatment with 2 mg kg?1 Cd. These results clearly showed that C. crepidioides is a Cd accumulator. In all samples, the Cd concentration in the above-ground plant tissues was higher than that in the roots. The results obtained in the present study show that this plant has a strong potential for use in phytoremediation in farm fields contaminated with Cd.  相似文献

A constructed wetland composed of a pond- and a marsh-type wetland was employed to remove nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from effluent of a secondary wastewater treatment plant in Korea. Nutrient concentrations in inflow water and outflow water were monitored around 50 times over a 1-year period. To simulate N and P dynamics in a pond- and a marsh-type wetland, mesocosm experiments were conducted. In the field monitoring, ammonium (NH 4 + ) decreased from 4.6 to 1.7 mg L?1, nitrate (NO 3 ? ) decreased from 6.8 to 5.3 mg L?1, total N (TN) decreased from 14.6 to 10.1 mg L?1, and total P (TP) decreased from 1.6 to 1.1 mg L?1. Average removal efficiencies (loading basis) for NO 3 ? , NH 4 + , TN, and TP were over 70%. Of the environmental variables we considered, water temperature exhibited significant positive correlations with removal rates for the nutrients except for NH 4 + . Results from mesocosm experiments indicated that NH 4 + was removed similarly in both pond- and marsh-type mesocosms within 1 day, but that NO 3 ? was removed more efficiently in marsh-type mesocosms, which required a longer retention time (2?C4 days). Phosphorus was significantly removed similarly in both pond- and marsh-type mesocosms within 1 day. Based on the results, we infer that wetland system composed of a pond- and a marsh-type wetland consecutively can enhance nutrient removal efficiency compared with mono-type wetland. The reason is that removal of NH 4 + and P can be maximized in the pond while NO 3 ? requiring longer retention time can be removed through both pond and marsh. Overall results of this study suggest that a constructed wetland composed of a pond- and a marsh-type wetland is highly effective for the removal of N and P from effluents of a secondary wastewater treatment plant.  相似文献

Hydroponic and pot experiments were conducted to assess the uptake of heavy metals (Cd and Zn) by a common crop plant, African basil, Ocimum gratissimum. In addition, the effects of soil amendments, hydroxyapatite (HA) and cow manure on plant growth and metal accumulations were compared. In the hydroponic study, plants were exposed to various concentrations of Cd (2.5 and 5 mg L?1) and Zn (10 and 20 mg L?1) for 15 days. O. gratissimum was shown to be a Cd accumulator more than a Zn accumulator. Cadmium concentration in its shoots exceeded 100 mg kg?1. In the pot experiments, soils from a heavily Cd-contaminated site (Cd 67.9 mg kg?1 and Zn 2,886.8 mg kg?1) were treated with cow manure and HA at the rates of 10% and 20% (w/w), and 0.75 and 1.5% (w/w), respectively. Plants were grown in the greenhouse for 3 months. The addition of cow manure resulted in the highest biomass production and the lowest accumulations of Cd in plant parts, while HA was more efficient than cow manure in reducing Zn uptake. Leaves of African basil showed a decreased Cd concentration from 1.5 to 0.3 mg kg?1 (cow manure) and decreased Zn concentration from 69.3 to 34 mg kg?1 (HA). This clearly demonstrates the efficiency of HA and cow manure in reducing metal content in leaves of plants grown on high metal-contaminated soil to acceptable or close to acceptable values (0.2 mg kg?1 for Cd, 99.4 mg kg?1 for Zn).  相似文献

Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to assess the effects of pH and ionic strength (I) on cadmium (Cd) adsorption by two Brazilian Oxisols. Adsorption envelopes were constructed through soil sample reactions with 0.01, 0.1, and 1 mol L?1 calcium nitrate [Ca(NO3)2] solutions containing 5 mg L?1 of Cd, with an increasing pH value from 3 to 8. The adsorption increased drastically with increasing pH, varying from 20 to 90% in a narrow pH range (4–6 in topsoil and 5–6 in subsoil). Gibbs energy (ΔG) for Cd adsorption was negative, and the phenomenon became more thermodynamically spontaneous with an increase in pH. Under the standard 0.01 mol L?1 I and at pH close to natural, the ΔG values ranged from ?796 to ?3427 J mol?1. No effect of I was observed on the ΔG values for Cd adsorption at pH values less than 6. At values greater than pH 6, sharp changes in the Cd adsorption pattern were observed on subsoil samples. The only soil attribute significantly correlated with the spontaneity of Cd adsorption was the effective cation exchange capacity, ECEC (r = 0.97; p < 0.1).  相似文献

Abstract

Ammonium polyphosphate fertilizers provide an analytical challenge because they contain mixed phosphorus (P) species in solution as orthophosphate, pyrophosphate, and tripolyphosphate species. The conventional technique for the determination of polyphosphate concentration in solution is measuring the difference between total digested P and initial orthophosphate with colorimetry. Online colorimetry was compared with ion chromatography as a method for the speciation and quantification of the chemical species of P supplied in polyphosphate fertilizers.

Ion chromatography was able to speciate all of the P species supplied in polyphosphate fertilizer, whereas colorimetry detected only P in solution as orthophosphate and, by the difference between the measurement of digested and undigested samples, total condensed P species. Ion chromatography had a detection limit of 0.02 mg P L?1 for orthophosphate, 0.03 mg P L?1 for pyrophosphate, and 0.05 mg P L?1 for tripolyphosphate. The detection limit for orthophosphate measured by colorimetry was the same as that measured by chromatography, but the working range of concentrations was considerably greater for chromatography—from 0.02 to 200 mg P L?1 compared with 0.02 to 2 mg P L?1.  相似文献

Abstract

A study was undertaken to determine the effects of different concentrations of arsenic (As) in irrigation water on Boro (dry‐season) rice (Oryza sativa) and their residual effects on the following Aman (wet‐season) rice. There were six treatments, with 0, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 1, and 2 mg As L?1 applied as disodium hydrogen arsenate. All the growth and yield parameters of Boro rice responded positively at lower concentrations of up to 0.25 mg As L?1 in irrigation water but decreased sharply at concentrations more than 0.5 mg As L?1. Arsenic concentrations in grain and straw of Boro rice increased significantly with increasing concentration of As in irrigation water. The grain As concentration was in the range of 0.25 to 0.97 µg g?1 and its concentration in rice straw varied from 2.4 to 9.6 µg g?1 over the treatments. Residual As from previous Boro rice showed a very similar pattern in the following Aman rice, although As concentration in Aman rice grain and straw over the treatments was almost half of the As levels in Boro rice grain. Arsenic concentrations in both grain and straw of Boro and Aman rice were found to correlate with iron and be antagonistic with phosphorus.  相似文献

A pot experiment was conducted to study the response of wheat to concurrent stresses of salinity and nickel (Ni)-toxicity. Soil was spiked with Ni (0, 20 and 40 mg kg?1) combined with two levels of salinity (control and 10 dS m?1) using Ni(ii) nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2.6H2O) and sodium chloride (NaCl), respectively, in a completely randomized design with four replicates. Plants were harvested at the tailoring stage and the results showed that wheat growth was positively affected by Ni at 20 mg kg?1, and negatively at 40 mg kg?1 concentration both in control and at 10 dS m?1. Ni (20 mg kg?1) had a nonsignificant positive effect on tissue potassium (K+) and a significant negative effect on Na+ concentration. Moreover, Ni translocation from root to shoot and accumulation decreased by increasing the levels of Ni in both control and salinity treatments. It can be concluded that Ni at 20 mg kg?1 increased wheat growth by alleviating salinity stress; however, at 40 mg kg?1 it aggravated the plant stress and decreased the plant growth.  相似文献

In this study, the concentrations and loads of different forms of nitrogen [nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N), total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), and total nitrogen (TN)] in the headwater catchment of the Mero River (NW Spain) were analyzed. The TN concentrations were relatively low (mean: 2.57 mg L?1). Nitrate was the predominant form of N in the Mero catchment, accounting for 76.65 percent of the TN concentration. Measured NO3-N concentrations were always lower than the maximum allowed drinking water concentration. An annual TN load of 61.2 Mg was computed, representing an export of 0.94 Mg km?2 y?1, whereas annual exports NO3-N and TKN were of 0.79 and 0.15 Mg km?2 y?1, respectively.  相似文献

The objective of this work was to optimize the synthetic dairy effluent (SDE) treatment using the central composite rotatable design (CCRD) and the Doehlert matrix to evaluate the adjustment of the models to the data, besides verifying if it is possible to find the same optimum point to the turbidity removal, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and UV254 compounds using two experimental designs. The coagulation and flocculation assays were made in jar test and the flotation in a flotatest in bench scale. For each experimental design, the effect of two organic coagulants was evaluated in the removal of turbidity, COD, and UV254 compounds of the SDE: the polyacrylamide (PAM) and the Tanfloc. The generated mathematical models in both experimental designs adjusted well to the data, showing a high capacity of prediction. To the PAM coagulant, the optimal point found in the CCRD design was 46.49 mg L?1 of coagulant in a pH of 6.53; in the Doehlert design, the optimal point in the CCRD was 48.40 mg L?1 of coagulant in a pH of 6.50. When Tanfloc was used, in the CCRD, the optimal point found was 40.42 mg L?1 of coagulant in a pH of 5.00 and, in Doehlert design, the optimum found was 37.57 mg L?1 in a pH of 5.05. It is concluded that, using a smaller number of runs, through Doehlert design is possible to find the optimal point really close to the obtained through CCRD in which are observed efficiencies of similar pollutant removal.  相似文献

Many new coleus (C. hybridus cv.) cultivars are vegetatively propagated and require different fertilization practices from seed propagated cultivars. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate growth responses of Henna, Indian Summer, Mint Mocha, New Orleans Red, Red Head, and Trusty Rusty to 0, 70, 140, 280 and 420 mg·L?1 nitrogen (N), and Henna, Mint Mocha, Red Head, and Trusty Rusty to 0, 6.2, 12.4, 24.8, or 49.6 mg·L?1 phosphorus (P) to determine optimum constant liquid feed rates to produce marketable size plants from rooted cuttings. Positive growth responses in terms of biomass were found with increasing N rates but not P rates. For medium-sized cultivars such as Henna, Indian Summer, and New Orleans Red, quadratic responses were found in aboveground biomass, and N at 280 mg·L?1 resulted in similar plant size and dry weight as those fertilized at 140 and 420 mg·L?1 N. For large-sized cultivars such as Mint Mocha, Red Head and Trusty Rusty, plant dry weight responded linearly within the N range tested and were greatest at 420 mg·L?1. However, plant visual quality was negatively affected by N rates at 280 and 420 mg·L?1 in that, leaf color became less intense at these high N rates. Plants fertilized at 70 mg·L?1 were smaller than those fertilized at 140 mg·L?1, however, they received similar visual quality ratings because of more intense leaf color. Therefore, N at 70 to 140 mg·L?1 can be used to grow most vegetative coleus for similar marketable quality. Mint Mocha and Henna were the only cultivars responded to P treatments that, 12.4 mg·L?1 P rate resulted in greater biomass than the no-P control. All other cultivars had no response to supplemental P except a linear response in tissue P%. Therefore, supplemental P is not required during the 8 week production period when there is an initial P charge in the substrate. We found that substrate pH decreases with higher P rates, therefore supplemental P fertilizer can be used for adjusting pH. Both N and P rates found optimum in this study are lower than current industry practices (N at 150 to 250 mg·L?1 and P at 24 mg·L?1) and can significantly lower production cost and potential leaching of excessive nutrient into waterway. Nutrient treatments in further study on postharvest performance of vegetative coleus will be selected based on this study.  相似文献

Abstract

In a pot experiment, sterilized sandy soil (irrigated with Long-Ashton nutrient solution containing a half of the recommended dose of ZnSO4 · 7H2O) was used to study the effects of zinc (Zn) foliar-application, and soil biofertilization on some physiological traits of wheat (Triticum aestivum cv. Sakha 155) plant grown for 70 days in greenhouse under controlled conditions. The treatments comprised different levels of the foliar applied Zn (0, 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg L?1) which was added in the form of ZnSO4 · 7H2O, and supported by Azotobacter chroococcum (Ar) and/or Azospirillum brasilense (Am) isolates. All test attributes (minerals, photosynthesis, metabolites, and dry matter accumulation) were significantly enhanced by the moderate doses of Zn (25 and 50 mg L?1), while a contrary trend was observed in case of the higher levels (100 and 200 mg L?1). Applying the bacterial fertilizers (Ar, Am) to the experimental soil, influenced the most test characters in the direction of improving growth, photosynthesis and dry matter accumulation by the plant. This response was more evident in the case of applying Ar plus Am than Am than Ar, particularly, at the elevated levels of Zn. Zinc application at 50 mg L?1 supported by the biofertilization with Ar plus Am resulted in the highest shoot contents of nitrogen (N), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), carbohydrate and total-soluble proteins. Superior values of the photosynthetic criteria (Chl a + b concentration and photosystem II activity) as well as shoot concentration of indole-3-acetic acid, and dry matter accumulation by shoots and roots were obtained by the same treatment. The highest phosphorus (P) concentration was achieved at 25 mg L?1 Zn supported by Ar plus Am. Irrespective of the bacterial inoculum, shoot contents of potassium (K) and Zn showed a positive correlation with the sprayed dose of Zn.  相似文献

The removal efficiency and tolerance of Typha domingensis to Cr(VI) in treatments with and without organic matter (OM) addition were evaluated in microcosm-scale wetlands. Studied Cr(VI) concentrations were 15 mg L?1, 30 mg L?1, and 100 mg L?1, in treatments with and without OM addition, arranged in triplicate. Controls (without neither metal nor OM addition—without metal with OM addition) were disposed. Cr(VI) was removed efficiently from water in all treatments. OM addition enhanced significantly Cr(VI) and total Cr removals from water. In the treatments with OM addition, significantly higher Cr concentrations were found in sediment than the treatments without OM addition. Plants of the treatments without OM addition showed significantly higher Cr concentrations in tissues but lower biomass increase than the treatments with OM addition. The highest Cr concentrations in tissues were observed in submerged parts of leaves, followed by roots. According to SEM analysis, in the 100 mg L?1 treatments, the highest Cr accumulation was observed in the epidermis of old leaves. Although Cr(VI) produced changes in root morphology, the OM addition favored the plant growth. In T. domingensis, root morphological plasticity is an important mechanism to improve metal tolerance and Cr uptake in wetland systems minimizing the environmental impact.  相似文献

Abstract

Denitrification products nitrous oxide ((N2O) and nitrogen (N2)) were measured in three flooded soils (paddy soil from Vietnam, PV; mangrove soil from Vietnam, MV; paddy soil from Japan, PJ) with different nitrate (NO3) concentrations. Closed incubation experiments were conducted in 100-mL bottles for 7 d at 25°C. Each bottle contained 2 g of air-dried soil and 25 mL solution with NO3 (concentration 0, 5 or 10 mg N L?1) with or without acetylene (C2H2). The N2O + N2 emissions were estimated by the C2H2 inhibition method. Results showed that N2O + N2 emissions for 7 d were positively correlated with those of NO3 removal from solution with C2H2 (R2 = 0.9872), indicating that most removed NO3 was transformed to N2O and N2 by denitrification. In PJ soil, N2O and N2 emissions were increased significantly (P < 0.05) by the addition of greater NO3 concentrations. However, N2O and N2 emissions from PV and MV soils were increased by the addition of 0 to 5 mg N L?1, but not by 5 to 10 mg N L?1. At 10 mg N L?1, N2 emissions for 7 d were greater in PJ soil (pH 7.0) than in PV (pH 5.8) or MV (pH 4.3) soils, while N2O emissions were higher in PV and MV soils than in PJ soil. In MV soil, N2O was the main product throughout the experiment. In conclusion, NO3 concentration and soil pH affected N2O and N2 emissions from three flooded soils.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Humic (HA) and fulvic (FA) acids improve the nutrient availability and uptake by plants but some aspects of their agronomic use still need to be clarified. The effects of HA soil application and FA foliar application on the growth, Zn and B uptake by coffee seedlings were evaluated. HA was added to an Oxisol at concentrations 0, 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg kg?1 (C-HA), in both limed (pH 6.2) and overlimed (pH 7.2) conditions. FA (0, 0.2, 0.5 and 1 g L?1 C-FA) was applied to coffee leaves in three different application modes (M): with 0.3% Zn and 0.6% B supplied via foliar (M1), 0.6% B and 1.2% Zn supplied via foliar (M2) and 1.2 mg kg?1 B and 6 mg kg?1 Zn supplied via soil (M3). HA addition in soil significantly (p < 0.05) reduced leaf B and Zn accumulation and coffee growth in both pH conditions. In the M1 and M2, FA application significantly (p < 0.05) increased the shoot growth at 0.59 and 0.45 g L?1 and B accumulation at 0.96 and 0.45 g L?1 C-FA. Foliar application of C-FA, instead soil application of C-HA, is a suitable practice to improve coffee seedlings growth and nutrition on Oxisol.  相似文献

The toxicities of three synthetic surfactants to the marine macroalga, Ulva lactuca, have been examined by monitoring chlorophyll a fluorescence quenching. The anionic surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), exerted no measurable toxicity over the concentration range 0?C10 mg L?1, while presence of the non-ionic surfactant, Triton X-100 (TX), elicited a small reduction in photochemical efficiency that was independent of concentration. The cationic surfactant, hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HDTMA), incurred a dose-dependent response to ??3 mg L?1 (EC50?=?2.4 mg L?1), but a reduction in toxicity thereafter. Presence of TX had little effect on the toxicity of HDTMA but an equimolar concentration of SDS directly offset the impact of HDTMA on photochemical efficiency. Relative toxicities of the surfactants are attributed to differences in affinity for the algal surface and tendencies to disrupt cell membranes and interact with intracellular macromolecules. Non-linear dose responses and antagonistic effects are attributed to non-specific interactions between molecules of the same surfactant and electrostatic interactions between molecules of different amphiphilic character.  相似文献
