1. Two experiments were conducted with broiler chicks to compare nutritive values of ground and whole wheat diets containing titanium oxide as indigestible marker. 2. In Experiment 1, a wheat and soy isolate based cold-pelleted diet, in which all the wheat was ground in a hammer mill to pass through a 3 mm sieve, was compared with a diet in which about half (375 g/kg) of the ground wheat was taken out of the diet and supplied as whole wheat mixed into the diet after pelleting. 3. In Experiment 2, a diet based on ground wheat and soy isolate which was pelleted after preconditioning (final temperature 81 degrees C) was compared with a diet in which 500 g of the ground wheat was replaced by whole wheat mixed into the diet before pelleting. 4. In Experiment 1, replacement of ground wheat with whole wheat increased apparent metabolisable energy (AME) content and starch digestibility measured at ileal as well as faecal level, while weight gain and feed conversion efficiency (FCE) were not affected. Jejunal chyme showed increased amylase activity and bile salt concentration. 5. In Experiment 2, replacement of ground wheat with whole wheat increased dry matter content as well as bile content of gizzard, and stimulated an increase in gizzard as well as pancreas weight. Jejunal amylase and bile concentrations were not significantly affected and neither were growth, FCE or AME. 6. Results from this experiment indicate that the improved feed value sometimes observed with whole wheat may be associated with modulation of digestive processes resulting in increased pancreas and liver secretions.  相似文献

1.?The aim of the present study was to demonstrate trace mineral interactions among organic copper, iron, manganese and zinc (Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) in broiler chickens.

2.?Three experiments were conducted using a control diet which was deficient in Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn.

3.?In experiment 1, the control diet, supplemental organic Cu, Fe alone and combined diets, were randomly fed to 4 groups of one-day-old Cobb broilers (each group had 6 replicates of 4 birds).

4.?In experiment 2, the control diet, supplemental organic Mn and Zn alone or combined with Cu, Fe diets and corresponding inorganic combined diet, were randomly fed to 6 groups (each group had 8 replicates of 6 birds).

5.?In experiment 3, the depletion of organic Zn, the depletion of inorganic Zn and normal Zn treatments were carried out in three groups of one-day-old Cobb broilers (each group had 8 replicates of 6 birds).

6.?Adding organic Cu, Fe and Mn alone or combined to Zn deficient diets did not significantly improve bird performance and were mostly excreted. Supplemental organic Zn alone or combined with other elements significantly increased feed intake, body weight gain and tibia bone length. However, supplemental organic Fe alone or combined with Cu significantly increased feed intake but had no obvious effect on body weight gain. The organic Fe supplementation resulted in a wider tibia.

7.?Depletion of organic and inorganic Zn resulted in decreased feed intake, body weight gain and total tibia bone Zn content. Zinc deficiency did not affect the uptake of organic Fe by tibia bone but reduced its total Fe content.

8.?Zinc is the first limiting element among these 4 trace minerals. Adding Mn, Cu and Fe to Zn deficient diets did not stimulate bird performance. Surplus organic Fe and Cu resulted in increased feed intake and increased tibia bone Fe content but did not contribute to bird performance.  相似文献

1. The nutritional value of a sample of algae meal, mainly Chlorella, was assessed in two chick and two broiler trials. The algae were drum‐dried after harvesting from sewage ponds by centrifugation.

2. Diets formulated by linear programming contained between 60 and 150 g algae meal/kg by substituting algae meal and sorghum for fish meal, soyabean meal and maize in a control diet.

3. The effects of the dietary algae meal ranged from nil to a significant depression of growth rate and food utilisation. In certain cases growth retardation was associated with depressed food consumption.

4. The metabolisable energy concentration of the algae meal was estimated to be 11–62 MJ/kg and the nitrogen absorption coefficient 0.81.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

1. This study investigated the nutritional value (digestibility of ileal crude protein and amino acids (AAs)) and the AMEN value of legumes (pea, faba bean, yellow lupin, and narrow-leaved lupin) with or without protease.

2. Two hundred, one-day-old, male Ross 308 broiler chickens were randomly allocated to ten groups. Each group received one of five different protein raw materials – either peas, faba beans, yellow lupins or narrow-leaved lupins, with or without protease produced from Bacillus licheniformis. The birds were kept in individual cages. Nutrient digestibility was calculated using the difference method. The total duration of the study was 23 d, and the study involved two phases – accommodation phase (d 1–18) and experimental phase (d 18–23).

3. The effect of protease on response traits was not consistent between the legumes. The enzyme increased the digestibility of some AAs in the pea (arginine, leucine, phenylalanine, histidine, tyrosine, alanine, and proline), faba bean (lysine, arginine, glycine, and asparagine), and yellow lupin diets (lysine, valine, and serine), but this effect was not observed in the narrow-leaved lupin diet. The change in AMEN values due to protease addition was only statistically significant for the pea diet (P < 0.05), whereas in the case of other legume species, the difference was insignificant (P > 0.05).

4. Exogenous protease increased the digestibility of AAs present in pea, faba bean, and yellow lupin seeds but not in narrow-leaved lupin diets. The AMEN value of peas increased with protease supplementation, but no effect of protease was found for the AMEN values of faba bean and both the lupin diets.  相似文献

During 65 d of storage a gradual increase in fungal activity (evaluated by CO2 production) was observed in a diet with its moisture content elevated to 136 g/kg. This activity was inhibited by supplementation of the wetted diets with either calcium propionate (3 g/kg) or Agrosil (2 g/kg). The fat content of the wetted untreated diet decreased between the 18th and the 45th d of storage from 38 to 29 g/kg. This change was prevented by the addition of either of the two fungistats. The weight gains of 7-d-old female broiler chicks fed on the wetted diets with or without the fungistats from the 18th d after their preparation for 27 d, did not differ significantly (P greater than 0.05) from those of birds fed on the unwetted diet. However, the food:gain ratio of chicks fed on the unwetted diet was significantly (P less than 0.05) better than that of chicks fed on the fungistat-free wetted diet. The results from birds fed on the fungistat-supplemented wetted diets were intermediate. It is concluded that the early stages of fungal activity (characterised by increased CO2 production, without changes or with only a slight decrease in fat content) have only a minor effect on the nutritional value of diets.  相似文献

1. Wheat, triticale 131 or triticale 72‐S could replace up to half the maize in broiler diets without affecting performance. Replacing more of the maize on either an equal nitrogen basis or a weight basis adversely affected performance.

1. Experiments were conducted to measure the effect of xy‐lanase supplementation on the performance of broilers fed on wheat‐based diets containing high and low extract viscosity wheat (experiment 1), baking and feeding quality wheat (experiment 2) and with variation in wheat content (experiment 3).

2. Xylanase supplementation improved food conversion ratios by 2·2–2·9% and body weight gain by 0·2–2·5%. This was independent of wheat characteristics but slightly dependent on the wheat content of the diet. These effects were related to a lowering of digesta viscosity.

3. Differences in extract viscosity of wheat were not reflected in broiler digesta viscosity.

4. Reduction of digesta viscosity resulted in only a slight improvement of litter score. Reduced intestinal viscosity decreased relative pancreas weight and to a lesser extent relative small intestinal weight.

5. Baking quality wheat Baldus gave better performance than the feed quality wheats Apollo and Slejpner.

6. It was concluded that xylanase supplementation of wheat‐based diets invariably had a positive effect on broiler performance.  相似文献

1. Soybean meal (SBM) was replaced with sesame seed meal (SSM) at proportions of 0.00, 0.33, 0.67 and 1.00 on a protein basis in broiler diets (2 to 42 d of age). Each diet was fed to 8 replicates of 5 birds each. 2. Body weight gain, food efficiency, ready-to-cook (RTC) yield, relative weights of giblet, liver and abdominal fat were not affected by including SSM up to 0.67 proportion of SBM in starter and finisher diets (360 and 310 g/kg, respectively). The relation between level of SSM and growth performance variable (weight gain, food efficiency and RTC yield) was non-linear. 3. Weight, breaking strength and ash content of tibia decreased non-linearly with the proportion of SSM in diet. 4. The activity of alkaline phosphatase and protein concentration in serum decreased linearly with the amount of SSM in the diet.  相似文献

(1) The aim of the experiment was to re-examine variations in digestibilities of food components in 3-week-old broiler chickens fed on pelleted diets based on wheats differing in lipase activity and hardness. Fourteen wheat (Triticum aestivum) samples, each from a different cultivar, were included at 550 g/kg in 14 different diets given to male Ross broiler chicks from 7 d of age. The other main ingredients consisted of soyabean meal (353 g/kg) and rapeseed oil (55 g/kg). A 15th diet containing durum wheat (Triticum durum) was also tested. (2) Hardness of wheats (Triticum aestivum) varied between 14 (very soft) and 88 (very hard), and lipase activity of wheats varied from 1 to 13.1 (relative scale). No significant correlation was found between in vitro viscosities and other parameters such as hardness, particle size of wheat flours and lipase. Hardness was correlated with the mean particle size of wheat flours and durability of pellets. (3) Individual lipid digestibilities were negatively correlated with in vitro viscosities of wheats. (4) Individual starch digestibilities were negatively correlated with wheat hardness, particle size of wheat flour before pelleting, and pellet durability. The ratio of measured AME(N) to predicted AME(N) was also negatively correlated with wheat hardness. Simple regression calculation showed that a 100-point increase in wheat hardness resulted in a 3% decrease in the AME(N) value of diets. Multiple regression calculation showed the food/gain ratio (d 10 to d 21) to be positively related to wheat hardness and negatively related to pellet durability. (5) Wheat lipase activity was positively correlated with individual starch digestibility, which was the reverse of a result obtained in a previous experiment. Thus, wheat lipase activity did not seem consistent for predicting starch digestibility and AME(N) values. (6) Among all wheat samples, durum wheat showed the highest protein content and the lowest content of water-insoluble cell-wall. Starch digestibility of durum wheat tended to be lower than that of other wheats (0.916 vs 0.936). However, no significant difference in AME(N) was observed between the durum wheat sample and other wheats. Background: Post-production fractionation of wheat distillers grains with solubles(DDGS) increases their crude protein content and reduces their fiber content.This experiment was conducted to determine the effects of fractionation of wheat DDGS on apparent total tract digestibility(ATTD) and performance when fed to broiler chicks(0–21 d).Methods: A total of 150,day-old,male broiler chicks(Ross-308 line;Lilydale Hatchery,Wynyard,Saskatchewan) weighing an average of 49.6 ± 0.8 g were assigned to one of five dietary treatments in a completely randomized design.The control diet was based on wheat and soybean meal and contained 20% regular wheat DDGS.The experimental diets contained 5,10,15 or 20% fractionated wheat DDGS added at the expense of regular wheat DDGS.Results: The ATTD of dry matter and gross energy were linearly increased(P 0.01) as the level of fractionated wheat DDGS in the diet increased.Nitrogen retention was unaffected by level of fractionated wheat DDGS(P 0.05).Weight gain increased linearly(P = 0.05) as the level of fractionated wheat DDGS in the diet increased.Feed intake,feed conversion and mortality were unaffected by level of fractionated wheat DDGS in the diet(P 0.05).Conclusions: Post-production fractionation of wheat DDGS improves their nutritional value by lowering their fiber content and increasing their content of crude protein and energy.These changes in chemical composition supported increased weight gain of broilers fed wheat DDGS.  相似文献

1. A study of the relationship between specific weight (SW) and nutritive value of wheat in diets offered to broilers up to 4 weeks of age was carried out using 10 varieties of wheat grown at three different locations; this gave rise to a range of specific weights from 59 to 76 kg/hl. 2. Because five varieties contained the 1B1R translocation and 5 did not, this allowed the effects of 1B1R on the performance of birds given high concentrations of dietary wheat to be further investigated. 3. The diets, which contained wheat at 744 g/kg with casein (142 g/kg) as the sole protein supplement, were heat-treated and pelleted. They were fed ad libitum to male, Ross broiler chicks from 7 to 28 d, in individual cages in a controlled environment room. 4. A 7 d excreta collection was made from 14 to 21 d for determination of apparent metabolisable energy (AME) content and wheat AME was calculated from the diet values. A separate determination of true metabolisable energy (TME) was undertaken using the method of McNab and Blair (British Poultry Science, 29: 697-707, 1988). 5. Wheat samples were analysed for proximate constituents, starch, total and soluble non-starch polysaccharides (NSP), amino acid content and gross energy and specific weight, thousand grain weight and in vitro viscosity were recorded. They were also subjected to near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) with a view to establishing relationships with chemical constituents and performance parameters. 6. At 28 d the birds were humanely killed and in vivo viscosity was determined on the jejunal digesta supernatant. 7. There was quite a narrow range of crude protein content (N x 5.83) across the 30 wheat samples, the means for the three locations (Crossnacreevy, Downpatrick and Limavady, respectively) being 112, 121 and 122 g/kg. Starch contents of individual samples ranged from 604 to 679 g/kg, total NSP from 92.1 to 122.6 g/kg, soluble NSP from 17.6 to 32.6 g/kg and in vitro viscosity from 10.6 to 26.3 cps. 8. There were no significant varietal effects for dry matter intake (DMI), live weight gain (LWG) or gain:feed ratio. Apparent metabolisability of energy (ME:GE) for the diets ranged from 0.738 (Hussar) to 0.778 (Harrier) the effect being significant (P < 0.05) and there was a significant (P < 0.001) relationship (r(2) = 0.46) between ME:GE and gain:feed ratios. Calculated wheat AME for individual varieties ranged from 14.1 to 15.0 MJ/kg DM (P > 0.05). TME values ranged from 16.3 to 16.6 MJ/kg DM (NS). 9. In vivo viscosity ranged from 12.3 (Ritmo) to 23.7 cps (Hussar), the varietal effects being significant (P < 0.001). Viscosity was significantly higher for the 1B1R varieties than for the non-1B1R (22.7 vs 16.3 cps) but there were no significant effects on mean DM intake, LWG, gain:feed, ME:GE, calculated wheat AME, ME:gain (MJ AME per kg gain) or TME. 10. Wheat AME was negatively correlated (P < 0.05) with total NSP (slope -0.035) but was significantly affected by variety, constants ranging from 16.74 to 17.79. For wheat TME there were significant variety*total NSP interactions with slopes ranging from 0.29 to -0.07. There was no significant relationship between wheat AME and soluble NSP and there were significant variety*soluble NSP interactions for TME with slopes ranging from 0.09 to -0.14. 11. Despite the relatively wide range of in vitro viscosity there was no significant correlation of either calculated wheat AME or wheat TME with in vitro viscosity. For TME there were significant variety*viscosity interactions with slopes ranging from 0.21 to -0.13 (P < 0.001). There was also no significant correlation between soluble NSP and in vivo viscosity. 12. AME values for the NIRS calibration set varied from 13.7 to 15.6 MJ/kg and averaged 14.6 MJ/kg, whereas for the validation set, the values ranged from 14.0 to 16.1 MJ/kg with the mean value being 14.7 MJ/kg. The best correlation coefficient (r(2)) of 0.90 was obtained when the calibration sample set was subjected to SMLR using the second-order derivatised data. However, moving to validation, the outcome was extremely poor with 1-VR values being 0.12 and 0.09, respectively, for the external validation and an internal validation subset. 13. In summary, none of the production characteristics showed a good correlation with specific weight. Using the linear estimates for wheat AME and TME the effect of a 10 kg/hl change in SW equates to a 3 or 1.4% change, respectively. The estimate for AME is likely to be a worst-case value due to the high inclusion level of wheat. The range of calculated wheat AME (approximately 1 MJ) across the 30 wheat samples is similar to that seen in previous studies for wheat grown in Northern Ireland and much lower than in some other studies. 14. None of the other parameters examined gave any better relationship with nutritive value (assessed as AME or TME) than SW. This is a disappointing outcome, particularly in view of some previous studies which suggested that in vitro viscosity provides a good prediction of nutritive value.  相似文献

1. An experiment was conducted to study the possibility of replacing soybean meal (SBM) with sunflower seed meal (SFM) in broiler chick diets. The SBM in broiler starter (317.9 g/kg) and finisher (275.4 g/kg) diets was replaced with SFM at 33, 67 and 100% on an iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous basis using sunflower oil to balance the energy content of the diets. The metabolisable energy levels used in the diet were considerably less than the recommended levels for broilers. Each experimental diet was fed ad libitum from 2 to 42 d of age to 8 replicates of 5 birds. Parameters studied included amino acid and apparent metabolisable energy contents in food ingredients, body weight, food intake, food efficiency, leg abnormality score, dry matter digestibility, carcase traits, relative weight and length of intestine, fat and protein content in liver and serum biochemical profile. 2. SFM had higher concentrations of calcium, phosphorus, methionine and cystine and lower energy content than SBM. 3. Replacement of SBM with SFM up to 67% in starter and 100% in finisher diets did not affect weight gain. Total and 67% replacement of SBM with SFM depressed food efficiency at 21 and 42 d of age, respectively. Food intake was significantly higher in SFM-based diets than in the SBM reference diet at 21 and 42 d of age, except in groups given SFM100 at 21 d of age. In the latter group, the food intake was similar to that on the SBM reference diet. The digestibility of dry matter decreased with increased levels of SFM in the diet. 4. The relative weights of giblet, liver and abdominal fat, length of intestine, activity of alkaline phosphatase, concentrations of calcium and inorganic phosphorus in serum were not influenced by incorporation of SFM in the broiler diet. 5. The ready to cook yield and liver fat content decreased, while the relative weights of gizzard and intestine and protein content in liver increased, with increasing levels of SFM in the diet. 6. The concentration of HDL cholesterol increased while the concentration of LDL cholesterol decreased with increasing content of SFM (> or =67% of SBM) in diet. The serum protein concentration decreased progressively with increase in dietary SFM. The concentrations of protein and triglycerides in serum were lowest in groups receiving SFM100. 7. Body weight gain was not affected by total replacement of SBM with SFM at 42 d of age. However, considering food efficiency, carcase yields, serum lipid profile and level of supplemental fat in diet, it is concluded that SFM can replace up to two-thirds of soybean, corresponding to inclusion of 345 and 296 g SFM per kg for starter and finisher phases, respectively.  相似文献

Pelleted diets, incorporating whole or ground triticale or wheat in the pellets, were fed to broiler chickens and the performance, gastro-intestinal development and health of those chickens recorded. 2. The use of whole triticale in the pelleted food produced similar bodyweight responses to when ground triticale was incorporated in the food. Food conversion efficiency was enhanced when whole triticale was used compared to ground triticale and was similar to when an exogenous enzyme was added to the ground triticale diet. The incorporation of whole wheat into the pelleted food produced similar production responses to the use of ground wheat. 3. The gastro-intestinal development of the birds was greater when they were fed the whole grain diet as gizzard weights were increased by the incorporation of whole grain into the diet. Gastro-intestinal development was thought to be related to the presence of large fibre particles in the food. 4. Proventricular dilatation and mortality due to ascites were reduced by feeding pelleted diets containing whole grain, which was possibly related to the early development of the gastro-intestinal tract relative to total body development. 5. It is suggested that the current use of exogenous enzyme additions to broiler diets may be reduced by incorporating whole grain into pelleted diets for broiler chickens.  相似文献

Chickens were fed a diet containing wheat of low metabolisable energy (ME) content (11.3 MJ kg-1 dry matter [DM]) or a diet containing a wheat of high-ME content (14.5 MJ kg-1 DM). The diets, although of identical ingredient composition differed in energy to protein ratio. Chicks fed the diet containing the low-ME wheat and with the low ratio had more severe biotin deficiency lesions but a much reduced incidence of the fatty liver and kidney syndrome.  相似文献

A conventional diet based on corn and soybean meal fed to pigs is usually provided in a mash form and in most cases, processing other than grinding and mixing is not used. However, due to the high cost of energy in pig diets,use of high fiber ingredients such as soybean hulls, distillers dried grains with solubles, and wheat middlings has increased. High fiber concentrations in the diet usually results in reduced energy and nutrient digestibility due to the low capacity of pigs to digest fiber, which negatively impacts growth performance and carcass composition of the pigs. Feed processing technologies such as changes in grinding procedures, expansion, extrusion, pelleting, use of enzymes or chemical treatments may, however, be used to solubilize some of the cel ulose and hemicel ulose fractions that form the cel wal of plants in the ingredients, and therefore, increase nutrient availability. This may have a positive effect on energy digestibility, and therefore, also on pig growth performance and carcass composition, but effects of different feed technologies on the nutritional value of feed ingredients and diets fed to pigs are not fully understood. It has however, been demonstrated that reduced particle size of cereal grains usually results in increased digestibility of energy, primarily due to increased digestibility of starch. Extrusion or expansion of ingredients or diets may also increase energy digestibility and it appears that the increase is greater in high fiber diets than in diets with lower concentrations of fiber. Chemical treatments have not consistently improved energy or nutrient digestibility, but a number of different enzymes may be used to increase the digestibility of phosphorus, calcium, or energy. Thus, there are several opportunities for using feed technology to improve the nutritional value of diets fed to pigs.  相似文献

1. Two trials were conducted to evaluate the effects of a mono-component thermostable endo-1,4-β-xylanase derived from Thermomyces lanuginosus on the nutritive value of wheat-based broiler diets. In a 5-week growth trial, the efficacy of xylanase supplementation at 0, 100, 150, 200, 400 and 4000 FXU/kg diet was evaluated. A short-term balance trial was carried out according to a 4?×?2 factorial arrangement of treatments, involving 4 wheat cultivars and endo-xylanase at 0 or 200 FXU/kg.

2. In the growth trial, enzyme supplementation from 0 to 400 FXU/kg reduced feed intake and improved feed conversion linearly. Digesta viscosity was significantly reduced by all enzyme inclusion levels by 49·6–56·9%, in a quadratic manner.

3. In the balance trial, xylanase supplementation resulted in a significant improvement of protein, lipid and dry matter apparent digestibility coefficients of diets, accompanied by improved dietary AME N values. 研究分两部分,首先应用套算法评定肉鸡对发酵啤酒糟的干物质、能量、粗蛋白和氨基酸的表观消化率;再通过饲养试验研究其对肉鸡生长性能的影响。经套算法测出发酵啤酒糟的干物质、代谢能和粗蛋白质的表观消化率分别为62.28%、63.68%、80.76%;各氨基酸的表观消化率在41.41%~87.68%。饲养试验选用222只7日龄的AA肉鸡,随机分为4个处理,即对照组(玉米-豆粕型基础日粮)和分别添加发酵啤酒糟5%、10%、15%的试验组,各组日粮营养水平一致。饲养结果表明:日粮添加10%发酵啤酒糟组肉鸡、料重比最低(P<0.05),但15%发酵啤酒糟降低了肉鸡平均日增重、提高了料重比(P<0.05)。结论:发酵啤酒糟的营养价值较好,日粮中添加不超过10%的发酵啤酒糟对肉鸡生长有利。  相似文献
