During the evaluation of the biochemical components of the arterial and venous blood of cows before and after milking, an insignificantly higher content of ash was found in the blood of the cows of Black-Pied Lowland breed, as compared with the Slovak Pied breed. The difference in the activity of alkaline phosphatase was found to be significant: the higher alkaline phosphatase activity was recorded in the blood of the cows of Slovak Pied breed than in the cows of Black-Pied Lowland cattle of the same age and in the same stage of lactation. A positive relationship was found between the milk yield and albumin level in the blood of the dairy cows of Black-Pied Lowland cattle; in the same breed a negative relationship was found between venous blood before milking and the level of gamma-globulins.  相似文献

A significantly lower alkaline phosphatase activity was recorded in the arterial blood of cows with higher milk efficiency. They also had higher sugar contents in their blood: highly significantly in arterial blood and significantly in venous blood after milking. As to the other blood components, the differences are low and insignificant. A significant positive relationship between the daily milk yield and the content of ash in blood (mainly in venous blood before milking), highly significant positive relationship between protein content in arterial blood and daily milk yield, and significant to highly significant negative relationship between the activity of alkaline phosphatase in arterial and venous blood before milking and the level of gamma-globulins in arterial blood were recorded in the group of cows with higher milk output. In the group of cows with lower milk production, significant to highly significant negative relationships were obtained between protein content in blood and the daily milk yield (in arterial and venous blood before milking).  相似文献

When evaluating the effects of yeast culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae1026) supplied with or without a vitamin premix and mineral bioplexes on some intermediates and end-products involved in the synthesis of milk constituents in 30 early-lactation Black and White Lowland cows, no significant differences were found in the glucose level, mineral contents and enzyme activities of the blood serum. The effect of yeast culture on the availability of minerals for milk synthesis depended upon the dynamics of degradation of mineral bioplexes in the rumen and the cows' mineral status. The insignificant increase found in blood total protein content and the simultaneous small differences in blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and milk urea nitrogen (MUN) values in cows supplied with the yeast culture were probably associated with a high ammonia incorporation into microbial protein in the rumen, which increased protein supply for milk protein synthesis and decreased the nitrogen loss.  相似文献

No explicit relations to the milk yield on the day of sampling were found when studying the content of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and sodium in the arterial and venous blood of cows before and after milking in the peak lactation period. However, there is a tendency of higher milk yields at higher phosphorus levels in the milk of the Black-Pied and higher-yielding cows. Some relations to milk fat content were found to be significant: a positive effect of phosphorus content in the blood of Slovak Spotted cows, a positive effect of calcium and magnesium content in the blood of more productive cows and a negative effect of magnesium content in the blood of less productive cows.  相似文献

No differences in blood samples were found out when the biochemical parameters in arterial and venous blood of dairy cows were compared before and after milking. Negative correlation coefficient (r = -0.3460) approaching the significance level was determined by comparing the values for milk yield on the day of sampling (in ascending phase of lactation) and protein content in venous blood after milking, and significant negative correlation coefficient (r = -0.3813) for daily milk yield and gamma-globulin concentration in venous blood before milking. The relationship between butterfat content on the day of milking and the values of alkaline phosphatase can be characterized by significant up to highly significant negative correlation coefficients in all three blood samples (r = -0.3232 to -0.3908).  相似文献

The problem was studied in a set of 678 mammary glands of 212 cows - crossbreds between the Holstein-Friesian breed with the Slovak Spotted cattle, crossbreds of the Black-Pied Lowland and Bohemian Spotted breed, and three-way crossbreds of the Black-Pied Lowland, Swedish White and Bohemian Spotted cattle. The confrontation of the confidence intervals of milk conductivity (MC) in healthy mammary glands at alpha = 0.05 showed that in the crossbreds of the Black-Pied Lowland cattle the MC was statistically significantly higher than in the breed types of the Holstein-Friesian cattle. The MC values decrease when there is a larger proportion of the blood of beef-and-dairy cattle (Slovak Spotted and Bohemian Spotted breeds). The locality where the stock was kept was found to act as an important factor underlying MC only in cases when both the geographical conditions and breed proportions were different. In a set homogenized with respect to the breeds, statistically significant differences in MC were demonstrated between the spring and summer season, spring and autumn, summer and autumn, and autumn and winter season.  相似文献

为调查我国当前主流饲喂方式下奶牛静脉血内毒素浓度的范围及内毒素浓度与产奶量的相关性,本试验首先验证了应用鲎试剂法定量奶牛静脉血中内毒素浓度的可行性,在此基础上,分别检测了安徽牧场 1(60头,饲粮精粗比 45∶55)、江苏牧场(15头,按产奶量高低精粗比分别为 20∶80、45∶55、50∶50)和安徽牧场 2(14头,饲粮精粗比 70∶30)共 89头奶牛的尾静脉血中内毒素浓度,并进行了内毒素浓度与产奶量的相关性分析。结果表明:鲎试剂法可有效检测奶牛静脉血中内毒素浓度,3个牧场奶牛静脉血中内毒素浓度高低不等,在 0~1.50EU/mL范围内。奶牛静脉血中内毒素浓度与产奶量之间的相关性皆不显著(P>0.05),但安徽牧场 2的相关系数(0.1952)大于安徽牧场 1(0.0205)和江苏牧场(0.0376)。结果提示,鲎试剂法可用于定量检测奶牛血中内毒素浓度,在我国当前的饲喂方式下,奶牛血液中普遍含有内毒素,静脉血内毒素浓度与产奶量无显著相关性。  相似文献

The levels of free amino acids in cow's milk vary greatly. The highest value of 164.484 mumol/l was recorded in glutamic acid, followed by glycine, alanine, lysine, and the lowest values were found in cystine, methionine, phenylalanine, tyrosine and isoleucine (5--10 mumol/l). The levels of free amino acids in milk and their order differ from the values and the order in blood. For a large proportion of free amino acids, significant to highly significant relations exist between the levels in arterial blood and venous blood before and after milking. On the other hand, significant positive correlations were found only between the level of cystine in arterial blood and in venous blood after milking, between threonine level in arterial blood and in venous blood before milking, and a highly significant negative correlation was recorded between the leucine level in venous blood before milking and the respective value in milk.  相似文献

Annual dynamics of the indices of acid-base homeostasis of blood was studied in dairy cows in two production regions, the corn production region and the potato-grain production region; venous blood was examined gasometrically by the Astrup apparatus. The examinations were performed eight times during the year and pH, pCO2, BE, PB, SB, AB and tCO2 were studied. In dairy cows from the corn production region lower values of the studied parameters were obtained than in dairy cows oriented to similar milk production in the potato-grain production region. In the corn production region besides the normal values also the lower values of the indices of acid-base balance were found, indicating the incidence of latent metabolic acidosis. A particularly critical situation occurred in the herd from the corn production region in September when the average value of blood pH was 7.35 logmolc and the following disorders were observed: clinical symptoms of metabolic acidosis, drop of milk yield, drop of milk fat content, hypomagnesemia and hypocalcemia as disorders of the mineral metabolism.  相似文献

Two experiments in vivo and one experiment in vitro were conduced to examine the mechanisms involved, which lead to mammary secretion of oestrogens and its importance for milk production and udder health in cows. In experiment 1 in six cows of the White-Black breed on day 268 of pregnancy catheters were inserted into uterine vein of pregnant horn, the abdominal aorta and the caudal superficial epigastric (milk) vein. Blood samples for estimation of oestrone, oestrone sulphate, oestradiol-17alpha and -17beta by RIA were obtained daily from day 7 pre-partum until day 1 post-partum. Only the concentration of oestradiol-17beta was statistically higher (P< or =0.01) in mammary venous plasma than in aortal and uterine plasma. In experiment 2 forty late-pregnant cows were divided into two groups according to their milk production in the previous lactation: group 1 (n=20) high-yielding cows (>6500kg milk per lactation), and group 2 (n=20) low-yielding cows (<3700kg milk per lactation). Blood samples for measurement of oestradiol-17beta by RIA were collected from milk and tail veins every fourth day during a period from day 20 prior to parturition to day 4 post-partum. The concentration of oestradiol-17beta was significantly higher (P< or =0.01) in the milk vein than in the peripheral plasma from day 12 pre-partum to parturition. In high-yielding cows the level of oestradiol-17beta in mammary venous blood was significantly higher (P< or =0.01) than in low-yielding cows. In six cows with pathological udder oedema ante-partum the concentration of oestradiol-17beta in milk vein was significantly higher (P< or =0.05) than in control cows. There were no statistically significant differences in the levels of oestradiol-17beta in cows with clinical mastitis (n=10) during 2 weeks after parturition and without it (P> or =0.05). In an in vitro experiment, homogenates of mammary tissue collected on day 7 pre-partum from two cows were incubated with 3H-androstendione. After incubation the samples were extracted and 3H-oestradiol-17beta was separated by HPLC. 3H-oestradiol-17beta was formed in a total yield of 37%. These results indicate that oestrone, oestrone sulphate and oestradiol-17alpha are not secreted by bovine mammary gland. Furthermore, the secretion of oestradiol-17beta starts about day 12 pre-partum and is associated with milk yield and udder oedema. Preliminary in vitro study suggests the synthesis of oestradiol-17beta by mammary tissue.  相似文献

To investigate the roles of mammary PTHrP in calcium uptake and/or release in the mammary gland of cows, plasma PTHrP and Ca levels, and their arterial-venous differences were examined in a Jersey cow during the periparturient period. Levels of Ca in both abdominal aorta and abdominal subcutaneous vein blood slightly decreased around the parturition and at 24 days after the parturition, however, no remarkable arterial-venous differences were observed. Plasma PTHrP levels in both arterial and venous samples were below the detection limit (0.57 pmol/l) during the experimental period. Milk PTHrP and Ca levels were measured in 9 Holstein dairy cows. Although plasma PTHrP levels in all arterial and venous samples were also below the detection limit, milk PTHrP and Ca levels were remarkably high, ranging from 14,900 pmol/l to 41,200 pmol/l and from 772 mg/l to 1,200 mg/l, respectively. In addition, a significant positive correlation (P<0.01) was observed between milk PTHrP and Ca levels. These results suggested that mammary PTHrP is closely related to Ca concentration in the milk.  相似文献

Abstract: Bovine coccygeal (median, caudal) vessel samples are not always venous in origin but may be arterial or a mixture of venous and arterial blood. Results of blood gas analysis of blood samples collected from 39 cows were consistent with typical venous, mixed venous-arterial, or typical arterial blood. This observation was made while establishing reference intervals for a new blood gas instrument. The pO2 and the oxygen saturation of hemoglobin (SO2) were most reflective of the amount of arterial blood contamination in the sample, but pCO2 and pH also were altered. The pO2 values ranged from 21 to 127 mm Hg, and SO2 ranged from 35% to 100%. The mean pCO2 in venous type samples was 46.3 mm Hg compared to 36.7 mm Hg in arterial type samples. The mean pH in venous type samples was 7.42 compared to 7.47 in arterial type samples.  相似文献

Cranial superficial epigastric (milk vein) and jugular venous blood pressure were measured in 8 cows with udder edema and in 3 normal control cows at least 2 weeks before parturition, at parturition, and 2 weeks after parturition. Cows with udder edema had a significant mean increase (P less than or equal to 0.05) in cranial superficial epigastric venous pressure at parturition when compared with pressures 2 weeks prepartum and 2 weeks postpartum. Unaffected control cows had an insignificant increase in cranial superficial epigastric venous pressure during these 3 periods of measurement. There was an insignificant increase in jugular venous blood pressure during the 3 periods of measurement in affected and control cows. A correlation was observed between mammary blood flow and cranial superficial epigastric blood pressure at parturition (r = -0.659, P less than or equal to 0.05).  相似文献

Effects of supplementing the basal diets with Mn, Zn and Cu, as sulphate, glycine or methionine salts, on colostrum and milk performance, some blood immunity indices and blood minerals of pre- and post-partum Holstein cows were accessed. Forty cows in different groups received: 1) a diet without supplementary Mn, Zn and Cu (control), 2) a diet containing Mn, Zn and Cu sulphates, 3) a diet containing Mn, Zn and Cu glycine, or 4) a diet containing Mn, Zn and Cu methionine with 10 cows per group from d 60 before calving (dry period) to d 100 of lactation. Dry matter intake (DMI), dry matter digestibility (DMD), colostrum and milk performance, milk somatic cell count (SCC), blood and milk total antioxidant capacity (TAC), immunoglobulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin A (IgA), and blood Mn, Zn and Cu were determined. Dietary supplementation with Mn, Zn and Cu as methionine, glycine or sulphate salts had positive effects on DMD, DMI, colostrum and milk performance, milk SCC, and blood Mn and Zn. Addition of Mn, Zn and Cu in diets could increase (P < 0.05) blood and milk TAC and blood IgA and IgM in the cows and their new-born calves. There were no differences in DMI, DMD, colostrum and milk yields, milk SCC, blood Mn (except d 50 postpartum), Zn and Cu and TAC (except d 50 postpartum) among the organic and inorganic minerals-supplemented groups (P > 0.05), however, the blood concentrations of IgA (except d 1 postpartum) and IgM in the cows supplemented with organic Mn, Zn and Cu were higher (P < 0.05) than those in the cows receiving the sulphate sources of minerals. Overall, dietary supplementation of Mn, Zn and Cu as methionine, glycine or sulphate salts can improve colostrum and milk performance, blood Zn and Mn and immunity indices in Holstein cows and their new-born calves. Moreover, the organic sources of Mn, Zn and Cu have advantage over the sulphate forms in terms of the blood immunoglobulins.  相似文献

Before injection of diuretic drugs, blood pressures were determined in the cranial superficial epigastric veins (milk vein) and jugular veins of 15 Holstein cows with udder edema at parturition and of 15 healthy (control) cows at parturition. Cows with udder edema had a significant (P less than or equal to 0.05) mean increase in cranial superficial epigastric venous pressure at parturition, compared with that of control cows. After IV administration of 500 mg of furosemide in cows with udder edema, the mean cranial superficial epigastric venous blood pressure significantly (P less than or equal to 0.05) decreased within 5 minutes, remained at the decreased pressure for 90 minutes, and then returned to near pretreatment pressures by 210 minutes after furosemide injection; however, furosemide did not significantly affect the jugular venous blood pressure of these cows. Furosemide injection did not significantly affect the cranial superficial epigastric or jugular venous blood pressure in the control cows. After IV administration of hydrochlorothiazide (250 mg), acetazolamide (500 mg), or 50% dextrose (500 g), the cranial superficial epigastric and jugular venous blood pressures in cows with udder edema at parturition were not significantly different from those in cows without udder edema at parturition during the 210-minute evaluation period after injection of the drugs.  相似文献

Increased milk somatic cell counts (SCC) are used as an indicator for bovine mastitis. During mastitis, polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) become the predominant cell type. Shortly after parturition, the severity of mastitis is increased and several PMN functions are downregulated. Apoptotic and necrotic processes of PMN could influence SCC and PMN functions. In this study, the percentages of apoptotic and necrotic PMN in blood and milk from early and midlactating healthy cows were compared. Apoptosis and necrosis of PMN were quantified using a dual-color flow cytometric procedure with fluorescein labeled annexin-V (green) and propidium iodide (red). Using this technique three different subpopulations of bovine PMN could be detected: apoptotic cells (high intensive green fluorescence), necrotic cells (high intensive green and high intensive red fluorescence) and viable cells (low intensive green and low intensive red fluorescence). Following a 4 h incubation of blood from both groups of cows at 37 degrees C to induce apoptosis, the mean percentage of apoptotic blood PMN was significantly higher (P < 0.01) in early lactating cows (15.1%, n = 9) compared with midlactating cows (5.3%, n = 10). The mean percentage of necrotic PMN remained lower than 5% in all cows. In contrast to blood, no significant difference was found between the percentage of apoptotic PMN in milk from early (41.2%, n = 7) and midlactating cows (34.0%, n = 8). The percentage of necrotic PMN in milk from early lactating cows (25.9%, n = 7) was significantly higher than that in midlactating cows (14.2%, n = 8) (P < 0.05). Higher percentages of apoptotic as well as necrotic PMN were consistently found in milk compared to blood in all cows. From these results, it can be concluded that spontaneously induced apoptosis was higher in blood PMN from early lactating cows than in blood PMN from midlactating cows. The higher percentage of necrotic milk PMN in early lactating cows than in midlactating cows could be explained by the induction of secondary necrosis.  相似文献

Polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN) function changes during mastitis. To investigate the contribution of milk PMN to the severity of Escherichia coli (E. coli) mastitis, chemiluminescence (CL) of blood and milk PMN and their efficiency to destroy coliform bacteria in the mammary gland were examined following the induction of E. coli mastitis in early lactating cows. To better assess and define the degree of mastitis severity, cows were classified as moderate and severe responders according to milk production loss in the non-infected quarters at post-infection hour (PIH) 48. There was an inverse relationship between pre-infection milk PMN CL and colony-forming units at PIH 6. In moderate cows, the pre-infection blood and milk PMN CL was approximately 2-fold higher than that of severe cows. The probability of severe response increased with decreasing pre-infection PMN CL. At the beginning of the infection blood and milk PMN CL was consistently higher, and milk PMN CL increased faster after infection in moderate cows. At PIH > 48 milk PMN CL in severe cows exceeded that of moderate cows. The somatic cell count (SCC) in moderate cows increased faster than colony-forming units, whereas in severe cows the results were reversed. The kinetics of CL activity for blood and milk PMN before and during the early phase of infection confirmed an impairment in PMN CL activity for severe responding cows. High pre-infection blood and milk PMN CL and the immediate increase of milk PMN CL and SCC after infection limited bacterial growth thereby facilitating the recovery of E. coli mastitis in moderate cows. Our study strengthens the idea that pre-existing milk PMN (a static part of the udder's immune defense) functions as a "cellular antibiotic" before and during infection, and low milk PMN CL is a risk factor for bovine coliform mastitis.  相似文献

Background

This study investigated the effect of milk yield on blood flow variables in the milk vein and musculophrenic vein in dairy cows.

Methods

Five healthy dry cows, five cows with a daily milk yield of 10 kg and five others with a daily milk yield of 20 kg underwent B-mode and colour Doppler sonographic examination. The diameter of the veins, blood flow velocities and blood flow volumes were measured on both sides in standing, non-sedated cows using a 7.5 MHz linear transducer.

Results

Lactating cows had significantly higher blood flow velocities in the milk vein than dry cows; the maximum blood flow velocity of dry cows and those with a daily milk yield of 10 and 20 kg were 14.04, 38.77 and 39.49 cm/s, respectively, the minimum velocities were 0.63, 3.02 and 2.64 cm/s, respectively, and the mean maximum velocities were 8.21, 26.67 und 28.22 cm/s, respectively. Cows producing 20 kg of milk a day had a blood flow volume of 3.09 l/min, which was significantly higher than 0.79 l/min recorded in dry cows. Lactating cows had significantly higher mean maximum blood flow velocities in the musculophrenic vein than dry cows. Blood flow variables of both veins did not differ significantly between the left and right side.

Conclusion

This study showed that milk yield has a profound effect on blood flow variables in the milk vein and to a lesser extent the musculophrenic vein. This must be taken into consideration in future Doppler sonographic studies of these veins and possibly other vessels. Furthermore, measurements on one side are representative of both sides.  相似文献

To examine the effect of parity on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) function, phagocytic and bactericidal activity of the PMN isolated from blood and milk against Staphylococcus aureus was compared between groups of 6 primiparous and 6 multiparous healthy dairy cows during early lactation using bacteriological and PMN-pathogen interaction assays. Latex-stimulated luminol-amplified chemiluminescence (CL) and viability of these PMN were also investigated. The phagocytosis and killing of S. aureus by blood were remarkably higher than those of milk PMN. Similarly, the CL and viability in blood PMN were markedly higher than in milk PMN. Both in blood and in milk the phagocytosis of S. aureus by PMN in primiparous cows was substantially higher than in multiparous cows. The killing activity of blood PMN against S. aureus was 42.3+/-3.4% and 23.2+/-1.7% in primiparous and multiparous, respectively. Milk PMN killed only 20.7+/-2% S. aureus in primiparous and 10.2+/-1.3% in multiparous cows. Blood and milk PMN CL and milk PMN viability were significantly higher in primiparous cows. The pronounced reduction in phagocytic and bactericidal activity in blood and milk-resident PMN from multiparous cows, in part, resulted from the pronounced decrease of PMN viability and free radicals production capacity; this suggests that heifers' udders could be more protected against S. aureus, which remains to be tested in the field.  相似文献
