Discussion on the breeding value and improvement measures of commercial DLY Sows

Under the background of African swine fever,pig farms will encounter two major issues,namely security and shortage ofbreeding pigs.It has formed a consensus that persistent improvement on biosafety could protect pig farms against contagion.However,the shortage ofbreeding pigs will remain ffor a long time.Currently,some farms start trying to breed the commercial DLY sows as gilts to restore pig farm production.There are few literatures about the reproductive performance of the commercial DLY sows,and it is widely discussed that whether the commercial DLY sows are capable of breeding and how to improve the reproductive performance.In order to help the pig farms to evaluate the reproductive performance of the commercial DLY sows and to improve it,this paper will conduct indepth analysis and discussion from three aspects:the breeding value,breeding disadvantages and improvement measures of the commercial DLY sows.
