Effect of Copper Sulfate on Sperm Motility in Misgurnus anguillicaudatus

Reproductive toxicity of copper sulfate(0.1,1 and 10 mg/L) on sperm from the Misgurnus anguillicaudatus(loach) was examined by a computer-assisted semen analyzer(CASA).The results showed that the sperm motility velocity obviously reduced at 0.1 mg/L,both the duration and the velocity decreased at 1 mg/L,and so done all parameters of sperm motility at 10 mg/L(P<0.05).The sperm exposed copper sulfate for 2 hours,and all parameters sharply decreased(P<0.05);and the motility was significantly decreased with increasing the doses and the time.These results suggested that copper sulfate could significantly affect the motility of loach sperm and might have a harmful effect on the loach reproduction.
