The effects of peanut oil on the growth and slaughter performance in yellow-feathered broilers

The experiment was conducted to study the effects of adding different concentration （1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0% and 2.5% ） of peanut oil respectively in base diets on the early growth performance and slaughter performance of Yellow chickens （ 5 ） under the same feeding system. The results showed that the body weight of 7 weeks old chicken in group B was 1003.9± 67.8g, which was higher than group K, A, C and D by 2.89%, 4.36%, 2.98% or 7.25% respectively. The feed/weight ratio of group B was lower than that of control group （p〉 0.05）. There were not significant difference among 5 groups（K, A, B, C and D） in slaughter rate, half evisceration rate, evisceration rate and intermuscular fat width （p〉0.05）. The abdominal fat weight of group D was higher than other groups （p〈0.05） by 70.26%, 62.76%, 76.35% or 48.48% respectively. The subcutaneous fat thickness of C and D group was significantly higher than that of control group （p 〈0.05）. The results showed that the palatability of diets could be improved, the intakes could be increased and the growth could be promoted by adding suitable amounts of peanut oil （1.5%） on diets.
