Abstract: | Weed research within the All India Co-ordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture over the past decade has included weed surveys to determine the dominant weed flora in various regions and cropping systems of the country: weed interference studies to determine the losses caused by weeds in various crops, weed control studies involving traditional and improved tillage methods: chemical control of weeds with emphasis on herbicides available in India, and studies of integrated weed-management systems. Much useful information has been accumulated and improved weed-control practices have been developed. The strategies for weed-control research and technology transfer discussed in this paper may be helpful in developing or introducing improved weed control practices in other Third-World countries. |
