中国木材科学发展战略构想

Some Tentative Ideas on the Development Strategy of Wood Science in China

Wood scientific research in China began in the early 1930s.In the past 60 yearsmuch progress was made in the wood scientific research in China.In the practical techniquesof wood processing,not only a number of important works have been published,but also indepth basic research and applied basic research have been conducted,especially significantachievements have been secured in researches on wood drying and preservation.The authors suggest a development strategy for wood scientific research in China.The immeadiate objective is managing to set up a preliminary modern wood science system in 2005,with a com-plete set of sub-field studies,centering aroud the priority subjects.The inter-mediate objetctive is to carry out readjustment in 5 fields to make research in some fields of wood science to enter the advanced ranks of the world within 10 years.The final objective is to make the wood science as a whole come up to the advanced world level in 2060s.The authors suggest that in the coming 5~10 years researches should be conducted in the following impor-tant aspects:(1) The relation between wood nature in industrial plantations in China and theforest culture in connection with wood processing and utilization.Research in this major field inclue the principles about the relation between the wood nature of industrial plantations and silviculture and the relation between wood nature and processing and utilization,the mechanism of quick wood drying,natural durablility,growth and stress in processing.(2) Researches on the regional traits of natural wood nature in China and its practical usefulne-ss,including the regional traits of wood nature of typical trees in natural forests in China andthe relation between growth conditions and wood nature of native trees for plywood,paperwood and construction timber.(3) Basec reseasrches on wood based composite wood includethe compatibility between wood materials and inorganic materials,synthetic polymer materi-als and the glue bonding mechanism,mathematic models on the performance,structural and technological parameters of wood based composite materials and the new techniques and methods of testing and analysis.
