| Abstract: | Pinus latteri Mason is a pine tree species with high oleoresin productivity and can be used for tapping from the age of 15 years. It keeps high oleoresin productivity after the tree has been tapped for more than 20 years or inters its overmature period. There is little difference of oleoresin productivity between natural forests and artificial plantation, but it can differ greatly in oleoresin productivity between individual trees. Higher yields of oleoresin are found in sites of better conditions which should be chosen for rosin base forests. In Hainan Province, tapping should be carried out between March and November, and small notches should be cut for longer tapping. |
