| Abstract: | Three tannin fractions, including the ether extract ( 1 ) ,ethyl acetate extract ( 2 ) and water extract ( 3 ) from the acetone-soluble materials of Abies fabri bark were used for tanning hide powder and pig skin. Results of analysis show that the order of penetration rate is ( 1 )>( 2 ) >(3), and that of shrinkage temperature and combined tannin is ( 3 ) > 2>( 1 ). Shrinkage temperature and combined tannin of commercial fir bark tannin extract are in between ( 2 ) and ( 3 ). |
