The Origin of New York Central Park Construction from the Perspective of Public Health

The creation of New York Central Park in the 19th century is a landmark of modern urban park movement, which is significant for the Landscape Architecture. From the economic and social background, it can be found that the promotion of public health is an important factor affecting the construction of Central Park, and a more important background factor is the urban environmental reconstruction movement which was widely carried out in the western industrial cities in the 19th century. By analyzing the background factors of the construction of Central Park, this paper discusses some related contents in early stages from the perspective of public health. It is pointed out that these basic understandings of the connection between natural ecological space and public health have been carried through the construction process and continue up to now.
