Abstract:Jiulong Mountain is a part of the low mountainous area in the western suburb of Beijing. A comprehensive investigation was made on the growth of dominant trees of Pinus tabulaeformis plantation stands distributed in various site in Jiulong Mountain area. The site-index table for P. tabulaeformis plantation in this area was made. Meanwhile, the relations between the growth of the P. tabulaeformis dominant trees and their site factors such as altitude, aspect, slope, form of stope surface, characteristics of soil etc. were analyzed with the multiple linear progressive regression.It was pointed out that the thickness of soil layer and the soil moisture were the limiting factors that affect upon the growth of P. tabulaeformis plantation in Jiulong Mountain area. Suggestions were made that how to manage the P. tabulaeformis plantation scientificly and how to use the deforested land appropriately, which has the site conditions of thinner soil layer and less nutrient and moisture capacites like Jiulong Mountain and in the low mountainous area in the suburb of Beijing.
