| Abstract: | Forest is increasingly playing an important role in the process of human development. It is helpful for forest resources assessment at global and national levels to establish the framework on criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management, and make clear the functions of forest ecosystem in global climate change and carbon cycle research. In this paper, global forest resources assessment (FRA) is systematically introduced, including history of FRA, background, standards and indicators, and methodology of FRA2005. According to the real situation of national forest resources inventory and monitoring in China, building forest resources assessment system for China is further put forward to meet international requirement. |
