翻译中的文化问题

对于不同语言的人来说翻译是进行交流的一种必然方式。这种情况下,在跨文化交流中通常会存在更多的问题。交流者会按照自己的文化习惯和期望来理解他人的言论。换句话说,文化术语对于译者来说是一种挑战,因为文化本身就是一群人所共享的信仰、看法、价值观和规则的复杂集合体。当文化相似时,翻译会变得简单。这是因为两种语言在文化的诸多方面很有可能存在或多或少的对等的文化术语。当文化不好理解时,通常找不到对等的词汇。译者要想在跨文化交流中进行有效地翻译,就必须要很好地熟悉译语和目的语文化,了解交流的目的和翻译的受众

Cultural Items in Translation

Translation is a reasonable way of communicating for people of different languages.In this case,there are often more problems in cross-cultural communication.Each participant may interpret the other’s speech according to his/her own cultural conventions and expectations.In other words,cultural items are one of the challenges for a translator,because culture is a complex of believes,attitudes,values and rules which a group of people share.When the cultures are similar,there is less difficulty in translating.This is because both languages will probably have terms that are more or less equivalent for the various aspects of the culture.When the cultures are very different,it is often difficult to find equivalent lexical items.Making to do his/her translation as effective cross-cultural communication,the translator should be familiar with SL and TL cultures,know the purpose of the communication and the audience for correct and on-time decision
