| Abstract: | The underground storage of natural gas is a very important component part for the pipeline transportation system of natural gas, which plays a vital role to the seasonal peak shaving of natural gas for a city and the strategic reserve for a country. The paper reviews the worldwide construction of underground gas storage in the last century,systematically introduces the features,construction,and operation of underground gas storages constructed with depleted reserve, aquifer reserve, and salt cavern reserve that are mostly used at present,and looks forward to the development tendency of underground gas storage in the future. In accordance with the construction planning of pipeline project for "west gas to east", the further work to be done in no distant future in peak shaving,selection of storage location,design and construction of reserve storage,as well as horizontal drilling has been put forward in the article. |
