“二元分类”──中国花卉品种分类新体系

该文介绍了花卉品种二元分类体系的形成及其３５年来推广应用情况，并着重指出其原理与优点：①品种演化关系与形态、实用兼顾，而以前者为主，科学性较强，可以指导生产；②“种源组成”是二元分类的前提性一级标准（“系统”或简称“系”），这就把品种分类放在种的分类基础之上；③在各系统之下，再按性状相对重要性依次分列各级标准，如类（群）、型等，从而构成了３（４）级分类体系．在论述二元分类的研究方法之后，提出该体系存在的问题，探讨了它的发展前景．

“Dual Classification”:A New Classification System for Chinese Flower Cultivars

A new classification system for flower cultivars in China was put forward in 1962 by Professor Chen Junyu and Associate Professor Zhou Jiaqi,using Mei flower or Paeonia suffruticosa and P.lactiflora as examples.According to the system,both evolutionary and development tendency as well as practical application and morphological characteristics of cultivars are considered,with the former of first consideration.In general,3 or 4 degrees of criteria for classification from the most important one to the less important one are used.For example in the Mei flower,“original specific constitution”is the first class or prerequisite criterium in classifying cultivars,viz.,Eumume Branch (true Prunus mume),Apricot Mei Branch (Hybrids between P.mume and P.armeniaca or P.sibirica) and Blireiana Branch(F 1 of P.cerasifera cv.Pissardii×P.mume, a pink double cultivar).Among the Eumume Branch,several groups mainly according to the gesture of the branches are divided,viz.①Upright Mei Group,②Pendulous MeiWTBZ] Group,③Tortuous Dragon Group.The Upright Mei Group consists of many forms according mostly to flower type and flower color as well as calyx color … The latest system represented in A Key for Classifying Chinese Mei Folwer Cultivars(1996) consists of 4 grades,i.e.3 branches,6 groups,(14 subgroups) and 25 forms.This is the newest development of the dual classification system for ornamental plants,sponsored by Zhou in 1962.The importance of an ideal classification system for ornamental plants,the creation and its extension of the so called dual classification system,its methods of research,its superiorties and prospects are discussed in the paper.
