Preliminary Exploration on the Origin of Citrus Fruit Trees Group

This paper outlines the origin of citrus fruit trees group and their related plants. The author, based on the theory of continental drift, analyzes the ecology of the climatic and geological vicissitude of each ancient continent, and come to the conclusion that the ancient plants of the citrus fruit trees group are reasonably supposed to have originated in these areas as Sichuan ,kang shen and South China ancient continent along with the India-China peninsula, then from these areas dispersed onto India, Africa and Australia. According to morphological characters, the present-day distribution and ecology of the genus Fortunella, Poncirus and Citrus are considered to be originated primitively from China, while the genus Eremocitrus, Clymeniaand Microcitrus from Australia.
