Advances in Genetic Model of Hybrid Sterility between Indica and Japonica Rice and Compatible Genes Study

To exploit the heterosis in hybrids between indica and japonica rice,the sterility in these hybrids must be overcome.Extensive researches on the genetic basis of inter-subspecific hybrid sterility have been carried out by geneticists and breeders in the world.Recently many advances in raising the fertility by compatible genes were made.This paper summarized genetic model of hybrid sterility and recent progress in wide and specific compatible genes study.
