观赏海棠新品种‘红石榴’的选育与品种特性

观赏海棠在园林造景和城市绿化美化中占有重要地位。新品种的选育不仅丰富品种资源,也为植物的生物学研究提供宝贵的材料。本研究利用传统的实生选种方法,从欧美观赏海棠‘亚当’种子自然实生后代中选育出观赏海棠新品种——‘红石榴’。自然树形柱形,树姿开张。一年生枝条紫褐色;幼叶桔黄色,绒毛较多,成熟叶深绿色;花蕾深红色,盛开花红色;果实近圆形,底色绿色,果面盖色粉红色,片状着色,平均单果重2.18g,坐果率高。抗逆性较强,具有独特的观赏和推广价值。

The breeding and varietal characteristic of a new crabapple cultivar ＇ Hongshiliu＇

The crabapples play an important role in garden landscaping and city forestation. Breeding new crabapple cultivar not only rich the germplasm source, but also provide precious germplasm materials for biological research. ＇Hongshiliu＇ is a new crabapple cultivar which is selected from the progeny of ＇Adam＇ by seedling selection; however, the male parent is unknown. The cultivar has cylindrical crown and upright tree appearance. One year old branch is purplish-brown. Young leaves are saffron with lots of tomenta, while mature leaves present dark green. The buds are carmine, and then turn to red during bloom. The fruit is nearly round shape with good uniformity and higher fruit setting rate, in addition, its surface is smooth with green background and pink cover. The average fruit weight is 2.18g. Due to its strong resistance, the new cultivar has high ornamental and popularized value.
