Abstract:A feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary lipid levels on body pigmentation, growth, partial physiological and biochemical indexes of Ornamental Carp (Cyprinus carpio L) (initial mean body weight: 5.85 ±0.19 g). Five experimental diets containing different lipid levels (5.60% , 7.93% , 9.95% , 11.93% , 14.20% ) were formulated and fed to apparent satiety to five groups of i0 fish for 60 days, each diet contained 130 mg/kg astaxanthins. The results show that the value of a * was the highest at the level of 9.95%, but the differences was no significance, while the concentration of carotenoid in the skin of fish was significantly different from other experimental groups ( P 〈 0.05 ). The body weight gain and feed conversion ratio increased significantly with the dietary lipid level increased from 5.60% to 9.95%. There were no significant effects on ALT, CHO1 and TG blood biochemical ( P 〉 0.05 ). The CAT and SOD activity decreased observely from 5.60% to 9.95% (P 〈 0.05 ). The results show that the lipid level of 9.95% dietary contained equivalent astaxanthin was effective in growth and modifying the body color. The results of this study also illustrate that the utilization of astaxanthin of Ornamental Carp ( Cyprinus carpio L) did not improve constantly with the increase of lipid level of dietary in diet.
