| Abstract: | Eleven wheat cultivars grown in Huaiyin region,Jiangsu Province were planted in a3-replicated split plot design layout at Huaiyin in 1987-1989 for two crop seasons.Grain yield and yieldcomponents were evaluated.The yield of Xuzhou 14 was only 230 kg/mu but that of Taishan 1 was 320kg/mu largely owing to the increasing of ears per unit area and 1000 grain weight.The yield of Boai74-22and Shannong 7859 was 360 kg/mu,and the increasing of yield was due to maintaining the grain weightand increasing the grains per spike.Results from this study suggested that further yield advances could be at-rained by increasing ears per unit area,1000 grain weight and or grains per spike coordinately. |
