Abstract:The pattern of nutrient cycling in a succession series from birch (Betula platyphylla) Stands to Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis) Stands was revealed by studying the extant amount and nutrient contents of litter,biomass of shrubs and herbs and so on. In this succession series,the litter and its mineral elements increased with the soccession deveoping, but the maximum was in birch stand rather than in Korean pine stand stage. With the age increased,the biomass of the shrubs and herbs decreased but the nutrient contents increased with; and the total biomass and its mineral elements of the shrubs and herbs showed fluctuation property.
