Comparative Study on Urban Forestry Planning and Management Policy Between China and Europe

The accelerated urbanization process is the common problem faced up with by both China and Europe,which brings huge pressure on the city ecology,environment and sustainable economic development as well as exerting a grave impact on city residents' health.The European practices prove that the effective establishment and implementation of forestry policy could facilitate the development of urban forestry,thus effectively improving human living environment and human health.On the basis of gathering,classification and analysis of a large number of authoritative literatures on urban forestry and the field study on urban forestry in China and Europe,the comparative research on urban forestry policy and planning,urban forestry management approach and working method was conducted,with the view to learning the advanced experience and the best practices of urban forestry policy from Europe so as to improve the capacity of Chinese governmental decision-makers,managers,researchers,stakeholders and communities in the establishment and implementation of urban forestry policy,improve the environmental quality of urban and peri-urban areas in China,and bring into play multi-purpose functions of urban forestry in the promotion of human health and well-being to the greatest extent.
