| Abstract: | To investigate the effects of matrine on mast cells of the stomach in weanlling piglets, sixteen 21- day-old piglets were randomly divided into two treatments （matrine group and control） with eight replicates. The results showed that the rate of diarrheic piglets in matrine group （0） was significantly （P 〈 0.05 ） lower than that of control （75%）. The number of mast cells of matrine group （ 108.7 ± 10.1 ） n/em2 in the fundus of stomach mueosa （P 〈 0.05）, pylorie region （126.7 ± 12.6）n/em2 and cardiac region （192.8 ± 10.3） n/em2 mueosa （P 〈 0.01 ） was significantly higher than that of control （ 108.7 ± 10. 1 ） n/cm2 ]. The histamine concentrations in the mucosa of stomach in weanlling piglets of matrine group was obviously （ P 〈 0.05 ） higher than that of the control. These data suggested that matrine stabilize the mast cell to prevent the diarrhea of weanlling piglets. |
