| Abstract: | One-day-old chickens of 5 strains were injected intravenously with AMV BAI-A strain. Strain AA and AV were more susceptible to the disease than other strains. The most typical change of myeloblastosis was a great number of myeloblasts in blood smear, which is valuable in diagnosis. Myeloblasts were of large size, with high N/C ratio, and slightly basophilie cytoplasm figures. Histopathological examinations revealed massive intravascular and extravascular accumulation of myeloblasts in most organs and degeneration and necrosis of parenchymal cells. The ultrastructure of myeloblasts, showed large, evident and plemorphie nuclei with prominent euchromatin, and abundant polyribosomes in cytoplasm. AMV was observed in the ultrathin sections of infected tissue. |
