Abstract:Biological effects of straw direct-application into fields tilled by a conventional method and shifting agriculture were investigated. The direct application significantly enhanced the activities of invertase, urease and neutral phosphatase. The enhancement of enzyme activity was positively correlated with the increases of organic matter, alkalihydrolyzable nitrogen and phosphorus at significant levels of 1% or 5%. In addition, the direct application promoted propagation of bacteria and fungi under the conventional tillage system. In view of tillage methods, the shifting agriculture generally achieved better biological effects than the conventional tillage system.
