Retrospect and Prospect on Maize Breeding in the Past Years in Heilongjiang Province

The developmental courses and advances about maize breeding in the past fifty years in Heilongjiang was illustrated comprehensively which included the selection and application farming varieties, comprehensive varieties and hybrid, breeding of inbred-line and creation of germplasm basic theory and special use maize breeding. The progress of breeding technology development of aims and breeding methed were discussed. The breeding of hybrid, germplasm innovation and inbred-lines election have made important achievement in the past fifty years. The suggestions were made to develop maize breeding in Heilongjiang province: such as enhancing work on researching the germplasm, breeding the disease-resistant and stress-resistant varieties, applying bio-technology in breeding and breeding density-tolerant varieties.
