Clinical Observation on Qizheng Pain-eliminating Plaster Combined with Acupoint Block for Treatment on Periarthritis of Shoulder

Objiective To explore the therapeutic effect and superiority of Qizheng pain-eliminating Plaster combined with acupuncture point blockade for treatment on periarthritis of shoulder.Methods Sixty nine cases with shoulder periarthritis admitted in our hospital from 2007 to 2008 were selected.The subjects were randomly divided into treatment group（n=35） and control group（n=34）.The acupuncture point blockade treatment was given to the patients of control group.While plaster therapy was used for the treatment group after treated by Acupuncture point blockade.The treatment efficacy was judged by the principles promulgated by the Health Ministry in 1997 which is,Guiding Principles on Chinical Research of Chinese Herbal Medicine.Results Sixty nine cases with periarthritis on shoulder were all involved in the results analysis.Pain relief was observed in patients of both groups,but the relief in treatment group was superior to that of control group（p0.005）.The range of motion of shoulder joint improved in both groups,but the improvement in treatment group was superior to that of control group（p0.05）.One case suffered from skin itch in treatment group.There was not any side effect such as ulceration.Conclusion Pain-eliminating Plaster combined with Acupuncture point blockade is remarkably effective in reducing the pain caused by shouder periarthritis and can improve the range of motion of shoulder joint.It would be widely used in clinical practice.
