Relation of the metabolisable energy intake of growing cattle to body weight,live weight gain and dry matter intake

Equations relating daily energy intake to metabolic body weight, daily weight gain and dry matter intake in growing bulls over a practical range of energy densities, have been calculated from data published by the Agricultural Research Council (1965), the U.K. Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1972) and from growth experiments conducted in Israel. The equations obtained from these three sources were similar and provide a simple method for relating the necessary energy content of rations for growing cattle with body weight, daily gain and the dry matter intake by linear programming.
