The article first introduces the main points of the development of "new agricultural science", and shows the content and requirements of agricultural development under the background of "new agricultural science". Then, taking the agricultural engineering discipline of Jiamusi University as an example, it expounds the necessity and importance of the innovation of agricultural engineering specialty construction in applied universities, and points out the significance of agricultural engineering teaching exploration in colleges and universities under the background of "new agricultural science". Then, combined with the actual situation, it analyzes the improvement space existing in the current agricultural engineering specialty construction, and provides directions for the follow-up innovation. Finally, on the basis of the above development points, significance and problems, the thinking and exploration of the construction path of agricultural engineering specialty are carried out, and relevant practical development measures and suggestions are put forward.
