1. Irrespective of whether the hen carried the dwarfing gene, dw, food intake on days when there was ovulation and oviposition was higher than on days when there was only oviposition. 2. The “ overconsumption “ in dw hens was greater than in the Dw hens. 3. Food intake and shell thickness were correlated, the relationship being particularly close in dw hens. 4. There was a consistent and positive correlation between food intake and weight of egg laid on the same day in both Dw and dw hens. |
