Abstract: | The effect of sample preparation on the amount of basophilic stippling of erythrocytes (BSE) was studied using blood from a calf with chronic experimental lead poisoning. The combination of EDTA anticoagulation and rapid drying of the blood smear resulted in the most BSE. Alcohol prefixation reduced BSE. Wright-Leishman stain was better than Wright stain in demonstrating BSE. |
