Test on Adding Different Rates of Peanut Vine Powder to Hog Diet

24 hybrid hogs were evenly divided into three groups at random, namely Group One, Group Two and Group Three. Peanwt vine powder in each group diet was 10% , 15% and 30% respectively in early testing stage, and 30%, 40% and 60% respectively in late stage. Feed consumption was measured and hogs were fed to appetite. The average daily weight gain of hogs in each group was 438.78g, 415.56g and 245.79g respectively, and the feed consumption for 1 kg of weight gain was 5.67kg, 6.23kg and 9.07kg respectivey. The result shows that adding too much peanut vine powder to hog diet would significantly lower the weight gain speed, feed conversion rate and the net profit. Therefore farmers in the main peanut producing areas of Henan Province should promptly change their feeding patterns, where they use peanut vine as their main hog diet. Peanut vine in hog diet should not be more than 10% in early feeding stage, not be more than 30% and in late stage.
