Abstract:For the purpose of reducing pepper postharvest losing caused by bacterial soft rot,this study was carried out to isolate and screen antagonistic bacteria from pepper plants.The result showed that 3 strains of antagonist which could effectively control the bacterial soft rot were isolated,among them the strain PP-32 showed the most effective antagonizing activity,and its maximal inhibition circle diameter was 37 mm after incubated on the medium plate for 3 d,while the inhibition rate to the pathogeny was 56.7% after incubated for 7 d,and the strain PP-32 which had the characteristic of wide-spectrum antagonism was identified as Bacillus sp.preliminarily.The suspension(1.0 ×109cfu/mL)of the strain showed strong inhibiting effect to the growth of the pathogeny,however,its sterile cellular exudates showed no inhibiting effect.Further studies suggested that the strain had antagonizing effect 72.2% at least to the soft rot on pepper fruits and biocontrol efficacy 17.3% after the fruits stored at 25 ℃ for 18 d.As a result,the strain PP-32 could be applied as a biocontrol agent to control pepper postharvest bacterial soft rot.
