Abstract:Influenza A viruses are important human and animal pathogens.They cause seasonal epidemics and occasional global pandemics,so they pose a serious public health threat.Multiple proteins of influenza A viruses are implicated in the cross-species transmission of these viruses,of which the virus hemagglutinin is the major limiting factor in host range,however,the polymerase protein and the non-structural protein 1 also play an important role.In each year,there are a various of new strains with unknown pathogenicity by constantly adapting to various hosts and long-term evolution,the pathogenicity of influenza A viruses are mainly affected by certain specific amino acid substitutions of polymerase protein,hemagglutinin and non-structural protein 1.In this paper,the research progress on the molecular mechanism of cross-species transmission and pathogenicity of influenza A viruses were reviewed.
