Abstract:Rhizobium astragali is a fast-growing rhizobium isolated from Astragalus sinicus. Probing plasmids of R. astragali with pRmSL42 (nod) and pIJ242 (nif) separately, homologous DNA sequence was observed. The resulis showed that nod was located on pRaS52a and nif on pRaS52b in strain Sj2, and that nod and nif were on pRa 104a and pRa 104b, respectively, in strain HR101. In strain SR72 the nod was on pSR72a. This paper is the first to present physical evidence for the plasmid-borne symiotic genes in Rhizibium astragali.
